  • amen you need heavy lifting if your a football player even in high school.

  • so you and jediindy are father and son?

  • i like your message, doug. i dont think u should ever encourage kids to lift weights, but at least u're telling those who do, and everyone else, to do it properly. and now im encouraged to lift weights, and it's okay cause im 20 and know how to do it properly ^^

  • this is a good idea makeing cool vids to help people with legoes lol call my school and tell them to let u play this vid in our class!!! i subbed btw! =]

  • @superbadninjadude I doubt if you have 13 inch arms you can bench 230. 13 inch arms aren't very big, and 230 is alot of weight.

  • Nice info, I am 14 in less than 1 month, and I am a little over 30 lbs overweight, but I have philosophy about push-ups, squats, and sit-ups being the best exercise you can get(I was a former weight lifter), and I just started yesterday, now I think it would be cool, and nice if you made a video about this, so I can learn "The best way I can exercise" soon.If you decide to make one of your new videos based upon this comment I would be honored!

  • Hay! Im just 13 yers old, but Ihave a question. What is the best to do for my age to get big abdominal muscles? Please answer and sorry for my bad einglesh. Thanks!!!

  • Hay man! Im Josip and im 12 yers old.I need answer for one question. Can you tell me what do I need to do for big big big big abdominal muscles? Im from Croatia and sorry for my bad einglesh.

  • Hay man! Im Josip and im 12 yers old.I need answer for one question. Can you tell me what do I need to do for big big big big abdominal muscles? Im from Croatia and sorry for my bad einglesh.

  • lmfao

  • Ha, you're such a dude! I thought only Ron Burgundy actually referred to his arms as "guns".

  • You do a good job standing firm. Please continue to stand firm. it is rare in this world. I like your patience with everyone thus far. Thanks for sharing your info.

  • i weight 120 and can i keep workoing out my abs and how will they come out?

  • Everything in this video is correct. I myself lifted weights too heavy at age 13 and partially stunted my growth. I'm an inch shorter than I should be :( Any way, make sure the weight is light and that you don't go over board!

  • he doesnt actualycare

he is giving advice to people that dont wont to have deformed muscle or bones..

i stick by with wat standfirm is saying and making sure people shud be corshous with the weights they are lifting

ur body may be more devoloped than other bodys so u mayt be at ur adult hood already but some people may reach ther adult hood at 18

  • this is true but i started lifting weights like this at 10 now at 15 im training harder than most other bodybuilders sure ive had some minor pulls but nothing major i just pushed my self a little bit to much but other wise i think its perfectly fine as long as you know what your doing

  • thats how nerds pretend to say they have muscle "13inch guns of pure muscle can bench 230etc" you probs havnt even hit puberty yet you retard

  • No this video is all wrong. Lifting weights is a fast, intense movement. It is about the intensity of the reps not the number of reps. If you don't believe me then how come everyone in the world doesn't have huge legs just from walking around all day. I mean it is about 1000 reps right. It is because it is just not intense enough to cause muscle growth

  • 13 inch isnt much i have 14,5 and iam 16 and iam ripped as well :p

  • I'm actually a certified Mensa and am just trying to help you avoid problems sooner or later... or, most likely, both. Be careful!!! :-)

  • hey bud, my football coach did the same thing (which can help for linemen to bulk up) but you really need endurance over strength at first. Say you are 14 starting to work out, do what weight you can 15 to even 50 reps very slow and controlled. I see too many freshmen tough guys suffer hernias and pulled muscles due to this mentality that I want to bench 300 lbs in a day from 100 lbs. Whne you get to 17-18, then you can go for maxing strength (highest weight done once with good form). peace.

  • what if your lifting to get stronger for a sport. will that mess ur body up? because im trying to go to college with my tennis, and even though i hit the ball fast and consistent, i feel they may judge me because im not real tall or muscular

  • BOLLOCKS

  • Anyone who gives advice to lift weights slowly doesn't know what they're talking about.....

  • Lifting weights slowly is the best. Lowering weights slowly is even better!!! :-) I'd explain why, but it would take me an entire book. That's why I've written one.

If you research the research, I think you might realize that I MORE THAN know what I'm talking about....

    Doug :-)

  • This is wrong. Weight lifting is an explosive, ballistic movement. Muscles grow from one thing and one thing only: demand. This demand comes from intense muscular contractions. Now, when you lift weights slowly, you're putting unneeded stress on your muscles. Your muscles only have a certain amount of fuel in them. Therefore, they are getting tired out before the intense contractions have occurred. It will produce results, but you're capable of so much more.

  • I can appreciate your input, but you are definitely mixing up some key points. Many people do this. There is an INVERSE relationship between the speed at which a muscle fiber contracts and the force it can create. In other words, faster contractions produce less force... and vice-versa. Most people don't realize this.

Granted, faster motions are capable of generating more power, but that is a different equation: (Force X Distance) / Time For muscular size/strength, don't emphasize power

  • Look up Steve Turano of Body Peformance;he touched on this in his last show on Blog Talk Radio as well.

  • The main reason people give this advice is to make people focus on training both the concentric and eccentric functions of a muscle, ensuring the most muscle is worked so the most muscle can be rebuilt.

  • your an idiot if you listened to what he said it made perfect sence and you can ask any trainer and they will tell you to lift slowly.....think

  • i'm just 14, im weight lifting for 1,5years now, using 8kg. 25x left, 25x right 3times a day. no injuries ( yet ;) )

  • i do weights right now.and im 16,i dont do much(lol im kind of a panzy) i only lift 10 kg weights up to 30 times but rest after each ten, then go jogging for a few km's or so,is that bad for my bones?

  • Im 15. I dont train like a body builder me and my friend take it slow we will go up like 10 every month. And have been doing it for years. We are both normal size.

  • A person under the age of 18-21's body hasn't developed fully... Lifting weights wouldn't be a good idea because you can mess up the the way the body grows before the body fully develops.. Using your own body's weight, bending and stretching, running, swimming, riding a bicycle, and keeping active can be a big contribution to getting into shape until your body has developed enough for the weights to come into play...

  • what about pull ups , push ups, squats?

  • i am now 14 i was weight lifting since 12 i am now pretty strong and i am @ a normal hight because i understood that i have been using the same weights since 2years ago first i did 10 now i do 100 each day and they dont make my arms tired at all(the weights are 5kg) so take it slow no rush ur life is still ahead of you

  • actually you dont have to add weight to bulk up.u can follow many strict protein diets to gain muscle.i mean STRICT like a yrs worth of stuff to follow up on.lol

  • No you're wrong. Protein does not CAUSE muscle growth. It is NEEDED for muscle growth however it is lifting weights that makes you gain muscle

  • wow, this is retarded.... im 14 years old and im doing intense core exercises and big weights and guess what???? i have the best six-pack in high school, including seniors. i am also very tall for my age and the girls like my six pack and big bi-ceps..... owned!!!!!

  • wat do u meen intense core exercices?? i merely lift my 5kg weights 100-150times per day while talking to my freinds on xbox and my bicepts awesome too but six packs ill have to wait a bit for that

  • Lol, great vid. But shit now what do I do with the weights I bought since I can't do 15-20?

  • use lighter weights till ur muscles are strong enough to lift those ones 15-20 times

  • just answer yes or no

  • Reps are the way to go

I get up to about 3 sets of 50 reps every time i add 10 lbs before moving up

  • you suck then lol

  • dude, dont. I stated to lift weights at your age. In that time i was the tallest kid of my class, in fact everyone in my family is tall. And now at age 19 i'm the smallest of my friends cause my column didn't develop normally cause of lifting weights at a young age. Don't do it or you will regret it the rest of your life.

  • Listen dude, Your coach is wrong. If you do too much weight it will deform your muscles. Don't take the risk. :\

  • @

thelandoftherealman: your coach really is stupid and destroys your health... this video is basically correct to a large extent

  • hey i do wrestling and im ripped but im only 118 lbs and i need to stack on more weight, what would be the best way to do that at home, what would be great workouts to do without weights?

  • Kids, haven't hit puberty, therefore they have 0 test.

  • How on earth did you train those little lego people to speak English ?

  • Well, Herschel Walker didn't really lift weights at all; just did push-ups. Look how well he did !! Not sure if that's really going to help people here. I'm convinced I developed a tendon injury while bench-pressing, tried a maximum lift. Bad idea. Years later still can't do much bench press w/ out the same problem.

  • hahaha what a freako xD if you're 15 and interrested in workout and having a tight body, you probberly already hate lego :D and loove girls <3

  • you idiot. you can't tell kids to do homework about exercise before they do it, kids hate homework you're just making them fat

  • Go heavy or go home. That's what I followed ever since I was 13. It was worth every risk.

  • rubbish, bulking is just silly.

There is so much more to working out than just that.

  • go for toning, you dont wanna look like a roid monkey, i.e all of those Mr. Olympia guys. Don't even try to make me laugh, all of those guys are juicing.

  • Ive always been told to Do as much weight as you can for 8-10 reps, because if you just always do one weight for 15 reps than your just training yourself for tht weight not to get stronger.....

  • no u start adding weight when it gets too easy

  • Im 13 and i have six-pack abs and i exercise alot, u can see my video, but im not all sure if its healthy for me? :)

  • u look pretty healthy :)

  • i'm only 14, i go to the gym 4 times a week, i can bench press a good 80kg for 5 or so reps, dont know if i could go any higher.

but i believe people should start training at around 12, i havent been training for long(about 3 months) but i enjoy every second of it and the benefits are already showing.

to any young people wanting to start weight training, give yourself the head start and do it : )

  • start at 15...till 15 put on weight so you have what to grow...then at 15 or 16 start pumping like hell ;)

  • Yea pace yourself, build tone dont go all out

If you excerise to much you can stun your growth and you willl grow alot slower.

  • im 12 i weigh 155 i started lifting at the begining of the school year when i weighed 145 but since ive been lifting ive gained wait is that good or bad??

  • It means either your eating alot, or your workouts are working, I think it means your workouts are working... I just started working out about amonth ago, and wish I would of started in 8th grade instead of freshmen year...

  • ya that meant you gained muccles or how ever you spell it lol so ya its really good that means you gained 10 pounds os muccle or whatever lol

  • dude im 13 i lift weights and almost have a six-pack. i think kids should exercise

  • most people have six packs its usually hidden behind fat.

  • i had a visible six-pack at 13:D

  • swew da last comment had no bad langauge i cen***** it but basicly 13 people insult me i (bad language rep[lacement) ill get skinny nao for all 7|-|3 13375365 and you all (bad language replacement actually meant to keep em up) im sorry i wont do light but i do right i cant afford any other equipment and im subscribin to jediindy nao! meep not as much emotion i wonder if this will get taken off probably people will say SPAM! and down rate lol but no sense in reading this unless your 1337. 93\/367

  • lol i though he said "do it right, and do it right" im like wtf.

  • I'm 13 and I dont do much weightlifting right now. I'm in the processes of making my lower abs in a good shape. Is there a specific exercises for lower abs?

  • Your lower abs are fine, all you need to do is to loose a little more fat for them to show. Trust me i know. search for scooby1961 on youtube and look at his truth about abs and six pack abs fast videos.

  • I thought you said do it right and white lol

  • i hate these little kids who think theyre like amazingly strong your not. listen up. when you turn aout 14 your muscles start to grow rapidly, then you should do bicep curls. if your any younger your gonna hurt yourself. Im 14 and im doing 51 pound curls

  • Lol, I'm 13. I have weight class, so I NEED to lift weights, If not I fail. I don't think I'm "Strong" nor "Weak" Just a 45 picker- upper. Lol They say it's bad to do exercise on the same set of muscles... My whole class does that, Why is it bad?

  • can i lift weights i am 13 becouse everione is strong i want to be strong to

  • lol

  • im 13 and pretty much everyday i lift 5kg, that is pretty light for me, but i do about 500 reps, then take a break, then again, is that bad?? or better than lifting a lot?

  • yeah. you should just do alot of different work outs.

    i do 15 hours a week im only 16

  • well small weight with many reps give you tone heavey weght with small reps give bulk

  • i started lifting when i was 14. and i'm 6'2'' i was lifting competitively since 15. i weighed about 170 and i could bench more than 250. i squatted in the three plate club like 315+. so it didnt affect me or should i be taller than i am?

  • so Should Kids Lift Weights?

  • Yes... but do it RIGHT and do it LIGHT. :-)

  • Great advice for everyone

  • im 12, i love weights and do not do them all the time but 3 days a week about 10 reps (because of my age) but i do like to lift heavy but in control. the max i've done is 50kg. in my school (secondary, im 13 this year) 4 people can lift that, out of 200 to 230 pupils. To be on the safe side i normaly just do 7.5kg so i don't get stronger but keep my bicepts in shape.

  • THANKS A LOT!!!

  • haha, in the video is sounded like I haven't lifted weights before.

  • in high school you need to make sure you are actuall moving your weights up....and you only need like 15 reps...and you should have a spoter. good try though ;)

  • not that im saying your lying, but i'd like to see proven facts that this is true, and maybe some of the results(both pros/cons) of lifting heavy in high school

  • I lifted extremely heavy weights from 15 onwards.... all I have to show for it is stretch marks!!!! My shoulders ended up looking like brock lesnars..... but with a massive price- my shoulders are COVERED in marks. If you want to become STRONG and not look like a freak! Lift smaller weights, more times! Even if it's as low as 5 or 10lbs... if you're lifting them 1000 times! You'll get STRONG. Push ups and other resistance training is the best tho! work AGAINST your weight!

  • im 11 and i wanted to start lift weight if you start puberty early like super early when will puberty be over so i can start liftin weights

  • Well, just dont. Im 15, and even now, i dont do it with big weights, when you start, do it with small weights, and very gradually you can increase the weight... But go on and start now, if you wanna stay 5 foot...

  • Uhm weight lift during puberty? How stupid can you get, lawl.

  • the 15 year old had stubble LOL.

i am 15 and i bench about 120 pounds. with the bar its about 165. same as my body weight.

  • Mate, when I was 15, I was lifting 330lbs in most exercises. I weighed about 21 stone which is nearly 300lbs. I lifted in bulk, and didn't do it for reps. It helped me lose some of my fat. But for the past 3 years I've realised how stupid it was to do this! Lifting a smaller weight (around 100lbs) hundreds of times is the way to true strength. I'm 22 now, and because of what I did when I was 15, I'm covered in stretch marks. No matter how ripped and toned I get now, they're with me for LIFE!

  • thats not that much actually. Same here accept that i weight like 120 and i can bench like 150ish. Since when do you work out?

  • quality video :)

  • genious

  • Dude, awesome, simply put - awesome. Lovin' your vids and this lego stuff is a great idea actually.

  • what is the youngest weight, you recommend to do weights?
