Nice info, I am 14 in less than 1 month, and I am a little over 30 lbs overweight, but I have philosophy about push-ups, squats, and sit-ups being the best exercise you can get(I was a former weight lifter), and I just started yesterday, now I think it would be cool, and nice if you made a video about this, so I can learn "The best way I can exercise" soon.If you decide to make one of your new videos based upon this comment I would be honored!

You do a good job standing firm. Please continue to stand firm. it is rare in this world. I like your patience with everyone thus far. Thanks for sharing your info.
Everything in this video is correct. I myself lifted weights too heavy at age 13 and partially stunted my growth. I'm an inch shorter than I should be :( Any way, make sure the weight is light and that you don't go over board!
this is true but i started lifting weights like this at 10 now at 15 im training harder than most other bodybuilders sure ive had some minor pulls but nothing major i just pushed my self a little bit to much but other wise i think its perfectly fine as long as you know what your doing
No this video is all wrong. Lifting weights is a fast, intense movement. It is about the intensity of the reps not the number of reps. If you don't believe me then how come everyone in the world doesn't have huge legs just from walking around all day. I mean it is about 1000 reps right. It is because it is just not intense enough to cause muscle growth
hey bud, my football coach did the same thing (which can help for linemen to bulk up) but you really need endurance over strength at first. Say you are 14 starting to work out, do what weight you can 15 to even 50 reps very slow and controlled. I see too many freshmen tough guys suffer hernias and pulled muscles due to this mentality that I want to bench 300 lbs in a day from 100 lbs. Whne you get to 17-18, then you can go for maxing strength (highest weight done once with good form). peace.
what if your lifting to get stronger for a sport. will that mess ur body up? because im trying to go to college with my tennis, and even though i hit the ball fast and consistent, i feel they may judge me because im not real tall or muscular
Lifting weights slowly is the best. Lowering weights slowly is even better!!! :-) I'd explain why, but it would take me an entire book. That's why I've written one.
If you research the research, I think you might realize that I MORE THAN know what I'm talking about....
This is wrong. Weight lifting is an explosive, ballistic movement. Muscles grow from one thing and one thing only: demand. This demand comes from intense muscular contractions. Now, when you lift weights slowly, you're putting unneeded stress on your muscles. Your muscles only have a certain amount of fuel in them. Therefore, they are getting tired out before the intense contractions have occurred. It will produce results, but you're capable of so much more.
I can appreciate your input, but you are definitely mixing up some key points. Many people do this. There is an INVERSE relationship between the speed at which a muscle fiber contracts and the force it can create. In other words, faster contractions produce less force... and vice-versa. Most people don't realize this.
Granted, faster motions are capable of generating more power, but that is a different equation: (Force X Distance) / Time For muscular size/strength, don't emphasize power
The main reason people give this advice is to make people focus on training both the concentric and eccentric functions of a muscle, ensuring the most muscle is worked so the most muscle can be rebuilt.
i do weights right now.and im 16,i dont do much(lol im kind of a panzy) i only lift 10 kg weights up to 30 times but rest after each ten, then go jogging for a few km's or so,is that bad for my bones?
Im 15. I dont train like a body builder me and my friend take it slow we will go up like 10 every month. And have been doing it for years. We are both normal size.
A person under the age of 18-21's body hasn't developed fully... Lifting weights wouldn't be a good idea because you can mess up the the way the body grows before the body fully develops.. Using your own body's weight, bending and stretching, running, swimming, riding a bicycle, and keeping active can be a big contribution to getting into shape until your body has developed enough for the weights to come into play...
i am now 14 i was weight lifting since 12 i am now pretty strong and i am @ a normal hight because i understood that i have been using the same weights since 2years ago first i did 10 now i do 100 each day and they dont make my arms tired at all(the weights are 5kg) so take it slow no rush ur life is still ahead of you
actually you dont have to add weight to bulk up.u can follow many strict protein diets to gain muscle.i mean STRICT like a yrs worth of stuff to follow up on.lol
wow, this is retarded.... im 14 years old and im doing intense core exercises and big weights and guess what???? i have the best six-pack in high school, including seniors. i am also very tall for my age and the girls like my six pack and big bi-ceps..... owned!!!!!
wat do u meen intense core exercices?? i merely lift my 5kg weights 100-150times per day while talking to my freinds on xbox and my bicepts awesome too but six packs ill have to wait a bit for that
dude, dont. I stated to lift weights at your age. In that time i was the tallest kid of my class, in fact everyone in my family is tall. And now at age 19 i'm the smallest of my friends cause my column didn't develop normally cause of lifting weights at a young age. Don't do it or you will regret it the rest of your life.
hey i do wrestling and im ripped but im only 118 lbs and i need to stack on more weight, what would be the best way to do that at home, what would be great workouts to do without weights?
Well, Herschel Walker didn't really lift weights at all; just did push-ups. Look how well he did !! Not sure if that's really going to help people here. I'm convinced I developed a tendon injury while bench-pressing, tried a maximum lift. Bad idea. Years later still can't do much bench press w/ out the same problem.

i'm only 14, i go to the gym 4 times a week, i can bench press a good 80kg for 5 or so reps, dont know if i could go any higher.
but i believe people should start training at around 12, i havent been training for long(about 3 months) but i enjoy every second of it and the benefits are already showing.

im 12 i weigh 155 i started lifting at the begining of the school year when i weighed 145 but since ive been lifting ive gained wait is that good or bad??

Lol, I'm 13. I have weight class, so I NEED to lift weights, If not I fail. I don't think I'm "Strong" nor "Weak" Just a 45 picker- upper. Lol They say it's bad to do exercise on the same set of muscles... My whole class does that, Why is it bad?
im 13 and pretty much everyday i lift 5kg, that is pretty light for me, but i do about 500 reps, then take a break, then again, is that bad?? or better than lifting a lot?
i started lifting when i was 14. and i'm 6'2'' i was lifting competitively since 15. i weighed about 170 and i could bench more than 250. i squatted in the three plate club like 315+. so it didnt affect me or should i be taller than i am?
im 12, i love weights and do not do them all the time but 3 days a week about 10 reps (because of my age) but i do like to lift heavy but in control. the max i've done is 50kg. in my school (secondary, im 13 this year) 4 people can lift that, out of 200 to 230 pupils. To be on the safe side i normaly just do 7.5kg so i don't get stronger but keep my bicepts in shape.

I lifted extremely heavy weights from 15 onwards.... all I have to show for it is stretch marks!!!! My shoulders ended up looking like brock lesnars..... but with a massive price- my shoulders are COVERED in marks. If you want to become STRONG and not look like a freak! Lift smaller weights, more times! Even if it's as low as 5 or 10lbs... if you're lifting them 1000 times! You'll get STRONG. Push ups and other resistance training is the best tho! work AGAINST your weight!
Well, just dont. Im 15, and even now, i dont do it with big weights, when you start, do it with small weights, and very gradually you can increase the weight... But go on and start now, if you wanna stay 5 foot...
Mate, when I was 15, I was lifting 330lbs in most exercises. I weighed about 21 stone which is nearly 300lbs. I lifted in bulk, and didn't do it for reps. It helped me lose some of my fat. But for the past 3 years I've realised how stupid it was to do this! Lifting a smaller weight (around 100lbs) hundreds of times is the way to true strength. I'm 22 now, and because of what I did when I was 15, I'm covered in stretch marks. No matter how ripped and toned I get now, they're with me for LIFE!
amen you need heavy lifting if your a football player even in high school.
