  • There's a wonderful quality of joy each time I watch your video that crosses the many thousands of kilometers from there to here in northern Virginia. I have a notebook now writing down items for my trip over there because of your videos (and others!).

  • Lol you always just get chicken products, and you honestly ordered french fries -,- hahahah Im just messing with yeah. If I lived in Japan tho i'd be eating all the odd seafood-stuff. I know you don't like seafood :p

  • You sure do eat out alot...Must be Nice to be You!

  • He didnt say ''more videos coming soon'' like he normally does!

hahahaha sometimes it cracks me up ''hey guys'' xD he needs a NEW third lyne!

  • Half-cooked chicken is a gamble. The rest of it looked tasty.

  • Do you prefer "Furaibou" than "yamachan"?

  • Man, I want to go to Japan just to eat. Yummy!

  • I 'liked' the vdeo, but I really dislike it because it made me hungry! :)

  • Nice video. About how much would the average meal in an izakaya such as this cost - if it isn't rude to ask? That looked like a very good meal.

  • Good video as always

  • Uwaa~! That agedashi tofu looks so delicious! I love the atmosphere in izakayas. You just made me hungry! haha Great vid!

  • I went to an Izakaya a couple days ago with some buddies and ate Horse Sashimi! it was kind of tough and chewy but good!

  • @okinawaskate O.o Horse!? Now THAT'S interesting...

  • i wonder what the food facts are about raw chicken? ...interesting

  • I love the Agedashi Tofu c:

  • You can never end a video without the ''more videos...coming soon..''

    Good job!

  • Izakaya is like heaven! I always feel at home and comfortable when I eat at one. I always like to challenge new items, and so far, I have not run into an item on the menu that I do not like.

  • thank you for the video.

  • what oil do they use mostly?

  • Love the food vids....This reminds me to post my Yakiniku videos! I've got two ready to go.

  • Yumm.....

  • All that Japanese food and suddenly I see french fries. I thought at the end you were going to ask, which food in your video doesn't belong on the table.

  • Etamame? Is that what you said? I think I'd like that, I need to try that. :P

  • Everytime a video starts and I hear "Hey guys..." I immediately press the Like button.

  • @NostalgicLink

    Excellent attitude!

    Thank you!

  • @NostalgicLink Lol, i press the like button even before the video starts.....

  • @NostalgicLink Don't forget about the "More videos coming soon" To bad you can only like once.

  • @NostalgicLink

hahaha me too, I love Japan and these videos

  • @NostalgicLink me too

  • Now I'm drooling again XD Sometimes I don't understand what I'll get from the menu's over here. The name won't tell me the ingredients nor the looks. So I'm guessing that's the same in Japan. So even if I could read the menu's names, I'd still not know what I've ordered. It all looks so tasty though so I'm up for surprises (as long as it's not bugs or moluscs).

  • Manly men, manly men, manly manly manly, men! Yum yum, yum yum, yummy yummy yummy, yum!

  • This is not helping my hunger.

  • You should go to the Izakaya that has the monkey waiter!

  • I give a thumbs up for manly men using the word yummy !!! waaawhhh hawhhh..

  • hey when u first went to japan what was the first thing u ate

  • do they serve donburi in izakayas?

  • ewww chicken balls!!!

  • Raw egg & raw meats are common there & are a lot better than what you would expect. Also raw horse meat isn't all that bad either.

  • Damn!

There is a never ending supply of these awesome videos.

These make it a lot easier to explain japan & the food & culture to my friends & family. Thanks for doing this.

  • Awesome, as well :0

  • Raw egg is delicious, but chicken... I like to think I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food, but raw chicken? I mean, I'm sure it's safe, I just don't know if I could do it lol.

  • looks super yummy

  • do the waitresses come around collecting plates like they do in most restaurants in America?

  • @genuinebbuck he isnt from america, he's australian

  • @Legionario21 I know that but I'm sure he knows what I'm talking about, that is if he even read my comment.

  • @genuinebbuck

I read every comment left on my channel - about 1,000 a day..

And yes, they collecting the plates :-)

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom I know you did a video on politeness but if you could answer this question it would take a load off my mind. I'm American with a Japanese professor. He made a mistake today and I replied with "saru mo ki kara ochiru" or 猿も木から落ちる. Was this rude???

  • @nate91han

It would depend on the relationship with your teacher...

    I wouldn't use it again...

  • That food looks so good! The raw chicken however...you make it sound like it's a delicacy. Do they check it for salmonella or something?

  • oh I has some edamame the other day at a Japanese restaurant. it was yummy. I think I spelt it wrong. I'm not sure..

  • it is so cute there! I love the tables and tatami mats. I wish they had restaurants like this in California.

  • And you will eat all the food O_O !?!?!? WOW ... is every meal like this one :O ?

  • One person got salmonella and voted this video down

  • raw chicken ... puuuuuuuuuuuuuke

  • Always happy when I see another food ideo, especially when it's the fried and grilled variety, and not the "wet food".

  • What is up with half cooked chicken or non-cooked eggs? Do poeple get salmonella?

  • @millan32 In Japan, chickens are kept pretty well inspected as the culture has these types of raw food in it. The eggs are pasteurized and everything is kept on very strict sort of food quality and safety measure.

  • @millan32, with about any food product, if it is not handled correctly you can get sick. Its very possible to have chick that is completely raw if certain precautions are taken. For example I will be very picky about what kind of fish I buy in the USA because I like raw or just barely cooked. Sometimes I will not buy if the fish looks dodgy. I will also pay a bit of premium for very fresh vegetables because I want the freshness and clean vegetables as well.

  • @millan32

raw egg is SUPPOSE to be alright if you eat them right after cracking the shell.

but you still got a small small chance of getting virus or bad bacteria.

  • @hitachi088 The salmonella can reside inside the egg aswell. But im guessing this isnt a big problem in Japan, I think they even have eggs that are meant to be eaten raw, I hope they are just about sterile inside and well cleaned on the outside.

  • @Degenskonto

yeah, i also heard about excrement on the outside of the egg and then cross-contamination...

that is why i said they still have a small possibility of getting sick.

personally, i prefer my food dead and smokey hot.

  • @hitachi088 Same here. Dear, firm and cooked above 70 degrees.

  • @millan32 There are actually salmonella shots for chickens. So I think it's pretty safe to assume they use those.

  • @millan32 I think its chicken is handled differently over there, so u can eat it raw like a steak. As for eggs, i've never gotten sick from eating a raw egg before, even here in the U.S.

  • @millan32 The chicken's a higher grade than typical supermarket chicken, and it's sold to restaurants by specialty suppliers who take additional precautions to ensure it can be safely consumed almost raw. Besides, salmonella is only found on the surface and inside the cavity of a chicken, and it can't survive temperatures above 137°F. Even chicken sashimi is normally blanched beforehand.

  • @millan32 My wife cooks like that all the time for some Japanese dishes. We will do eggs but when we find a fresh chicken from an organic farm its just delightful. You get a much more creamy/tender feel from the chicken or egg. Totally recommend giving it a shot :D

  • @millan32

It's the same with something like raw/medium steak. Chicken meat, the same as beef is much less likely to carry bacteria and microbes like pork does. Thus, it is safe to eat raw (although it has to be handled well and come from a 'clean' place).

The same goes with raw eggs. If they are fresh, it's fine most of the time.

The majority (90%+) of people do not get salmonella from eating these if the foods are handled with proper care and attention.

  • @millan32 ye i was wonderin the same thing!

  • @millan32 Nope. When I went last summer I ate raw meat and raw egg. Delicious. Safe.

  • @millan32 obviously they don't and they are much healthier than the majority of the world :-)

Have you ever had raw lamb liver ? gotta be fresh , salt a lil bit and yyummy yummy .

  • @millan32 He said in another food video that the Japanese have much more sanitary raw things, so he doesn't even worry about that stuff there.

  • @millan32 you'll have to assume that they dont, why would they be eating raw food otherwise?

  • Are u guys ok?! An earthquake just hit japan :(

  • @xTenshiAi You goober nugget. I think they would no it hit without your comment. and it was like 2 weeks ago. and! hes already made videos about it.

  • @k2theC2thejo No I meant the aftershock that happened today. o_o'

  • @k2theC2thejo correct me if I am wrong xTenshiai ,but what I think xTenshiai is reffering to is the powerful 7.4 aftershock that hit late yesterday in sendai it was later downgraded to 7.1 and yes I agree, I'am sure they are well aware of it .

  • raw chicken?

  • I hope you and your love ones are all okay.

  • Are you safe?? D:

  • I have an idea for a video! Cook up some western grilled burgers or steaks for your friends and film it ^^y, or do a interview video on Japanese perception and taste of western foods like what is your favorite western dish ( cheese burger, pizza, or even Mexican food or not at all). BTW stay safe heard there was another quake ><

  • awwww ... I love Japan ...

This video makes me hungry ... :(

    take care and stay safe.

  • Another big earthquake hit east Japan again just one hour ago, are you OK?

BTW this video makes me hungry.

  • just read of the recent aftershock . .. hope everything is well . . . stay safe everyone <3

  • Gosh, this is so wrong, how can food look so good O.O screw it iam going to japanese restaurant today

  • Was that an egg yoke in that rice bowl?

  • When i first had those beans i ate the pod. Bad idea :(

  • Video length: 2:09

    Weird coincidence.

  • that looks Good :p ok I saw alot of Nihon food but Who orderd the french fries? I real mis Japan for it's cooking. keep the peace and stay safe

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom Japanese food is always so tasty. But some of the foods are a bit O_O and not something that I'd eat. Most of the seafood stuff is ok, but I don't like eating raw food. It just feels too weird. But stuff like katsu items are always good. Curry rice is good too. And of course ramen. Haha! French fries? Now that seems a bit out of place on this table. =P

  • ooh the edamame, I could NEVER stop eating those.... So addictive

  • Yummy!!

  • Is it true there's been another earthquake right now? :S

  • Omg, that made me so hungry O_O

    Looks delicious!
