  • Ye think it was their slogan "Very Sivilised" It being spelt with a "S" because of the letter "S" in the word "Silverjet"

  • They spelt "Civilised" wrong.

  • @SirTubelot It was not done by accident...

  • This ad was produced by the marketing company Saatchi & Saatchi for Silverjet following the termination their contract with BA.... both adverts are pretty lame IMO.

  • silverjets retired :(

  • My Music Teacher Sang This !

  • Yeah, and they still went bust!

  • coppied BA big time

  • THAT WAS THE BLOODY POINT.

It was made by the SAME person who made the original.

It was to take the mickey out of BA and rathe than 'bringing millions together' like BA said, they say 'a select few' suggesting the exclusivity and benefits from Silverjet.

The problem is that this was TOO CLEVER for many people, as they just don't think logically. It really does amaze me how so many people miss things.

  • That THE POINT... genius! Parody of the BA commercial.

  • I really prefer this version of the "flower duet" than the BA's one.

  • Your all getting the wrong end of the stick the main point of this add is to compare BA 24 million people together to few people together to create emphisis around silverjets exclusive quiet service away from the mad rush airlines e.g. BA hence the 5 or so people doing the wink and one person running through NY instead instead of the large groups for both scenes in the BA add to impose the impression that silverjet service is quiet and exclusive something that a SELECTED FEW get to do.

  • I'm amazed at how so many people just don't get the idea behind this advert, it seems it's just too clever for some.

  • Remember who this was directed by - Hugh Hudson, who also directed the original BA advert, not to mention several of the Cinzano ads, and the Fiat Strada ad. The essence of the Silverjet ad was parody - they had not got the vast availability of advertising cash that BA had used in the original. The outcome was excellent.

  • Its worrying... To much like the BA one...

  • its a joke

  • Thankyou!

  • What idiot thought this ad up!

This is reserved for BA how cheeky of silverjet. BA is better as they didn't go bust!

  • That's stupid. BA is a much larger company than Silverjet was. Any airline of that size can easily go bust in the high climate in the airline industry.

The 'idiot' that thought this up was the person who created the original.

THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS IS TO TAKE THE MICK OUT OF BA AND ALSO SHOW THAT IT IS MORE EXCLUSIVE AS THERE ARE LESS PEOPLE.

UNFORTUNATELY IT'S ONE OF THOSE ADVERTS THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND.

  • Yeah but the problem was that silverjet was running on the wrong plane (using a 767 insted of a 757) and having less people and it all led up to them going bust. At least the joke got shoved back in Silverjets face for doing such a stupid and copyright abuse thing!

  • What the hell are yo on about 'Running the wrong plane' ??

The point of this airline was to offer an all business class service, for less money - which is a good idea.

Don't have a go at them, they knew what they were doing and they had a good go at it. The prices of oil skyrocketed and most small and new airlines couldn't cope no matter how good or bad they were.

Just because you like BA, don't a biased and childish idiot about it. You are just too ignorant.

  • They knew what plane's they were running... how can they operate a 767 instead of a 757? They ordered two 67's and one 57 I believe... they didn't accidentally order it.

  • I take your side on this one..

  • Silverjet launches "The world's most Bust airline" HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • This one sucks compared to the BA one. They just copied BAs idea.

  • Ye its exactly like the BA one!

  • It's a mickey take on BA. read my other comments on this page.

  • So UNORIGINAL!

  • Silverjet has GONE BUST from the 30th May.

  • Oh please...how unoriginal. The Silverjet cabin crew manager is the ***** who created the great BA cabin crew strike of 1997 which began BA's downfall. So...Silverjet pick up BA management rejects....! Look forward to Willie Walsh joining the ranks any day now.

  • No, they are not, but it is not copying, because the music isn't owned by BA thery are free to use it, providing they pay the artist, and you either get the advert or you don't. What you are meant to get is thatthey basically play with things you know. Many adverts do,it is not easy to find a balance, but I think silverjet got it rtight here, it certainly is anything but lame or cheap imitation, they didn't plagiarise in that sense.

  • It's also known as the Flower Duet.

  • The song is "Viens Malika" from "L'Opéra Lakme.

  • THANX

    HULISESS7

  • Silverjet remind me of Virgin Atlantic when they started, poking fun at British Airways. Good luck to them. They're flying to Dubai as well now which is smart. They like a bit of luxury and bling over there. Maybe Delhi or Shanghai next........

  • That's the point, the BA advert was about bringing everyone in the world together, but the Silverjet one is about bringing 'a select few together'. See? It's quite clever really.

  • It's not clever it's just copying and it is lame and rude! They should've found some other way to show that instead of knicking the idea from a brilliant ad from years ago.

  • You definitely missed the point of the advert, they are playing towards the recognition effect, I for instance was in the kitchen when it came up and said: "BA, isn't it" only to be proven wrong.

  • That exactly proves the point that it's copying and it's lame doesn't it?

People that hear the music and think it's BA are gonna be confused when they see it's actually not BA.

I still think it's just a lame immitation of something that was really amazing first of all.

Are they still showing this advert on the tv anyway?

  • i only searched for this after seeing the commercial on tv and wondering why they spelled it 'sivilised'. is it supposed to be because of the word silverjet? the could have at least you the logo typeface to denote that. it really just looks like a typo.

  • Many of the Silverjet managers are Ex-Ba. They did it on purpose, stressing the fact that cabin crew have a lot less passengers to look after, that's why there are not masses of people. They surely didn't do this because they're stupid or thought nobody would realise it's a copy.

  • It would be great if you could tell us why you belive BA Club is much better. We welcome all of your suggestions on how to make our fantastic service even better.

  • Now THAT'S a great ad!

  • Sivilised? I dont understand why they've spelt it incorrectly? Can anyone clarify please? I don't get it!

  • if the idea is - 'As good as BA but smaller' then i think it's cheeky and fun. Confusing though really, but you got me to talk and think about it.....

  • nice ad

  • This is quite an fun parody, right down to the fewer voices singing in the Silverjet v. BA versions. Very subtle, but clever! Is that Joanna Lumley doing the voice over?

  • Yes it is.

  • This is art

  • I saw this on TV and wanted to see it again as it is so stunning. Thanks youtube - its a great ad

  • A near miss. Lawrence, it needs to be better branded. Also, go for an explicit pop at BA.

  • That would not be 'sivilised' now would it?

  • Thats the point, Silverjet play with words, make things fun. Look at some of the advertising 'You Lier' etc

  • It might be convincing if CIVILIZED was spelled right.

  • it is! Sivilised....silver ged it!

  • Silverjet... Sivilised...I really don't think this ad was aimed at you.

  • I cant see BA being happy about this advert, although it could prompt them to remake the "face" advert. Would be nice to see a modern British Airways version.

  • The Silverjet spoof is great fun, but who are they?

  • After seeing the new BA ad which was obviously driven by the client, it's great to see that Silverjet has a bit more fun and much more clever with their budget.

  • Clever! Very cheeky, as well. That said, what is it with airlines and arias?

  • David and Goliath.. need I say more.

  • It's good fun, specially if you remember the original

  • Epic! A classic redefined

  • Superb! Very well executed with a classic redefined. Can't get the tune out of my head

  • AGREED!

  • spoof-tastic
