  • I had planned to give my baby up for adoption in 1969. I'm sad to say that he was stillborn and I never had to make that decision. I don't know if I could have. I used to dream that it was all a mistake. That he would someday walk up to my home and ring my doorbell. Unfortunately, I always wake up from the dream. I would give everything for the dream to be true. I hope SO much that all of you will be able to find where you came from.

  • check out the ad, by lawyer who makes money doing adoptions?

  • Children have an absolute right to know their birth parents. To deny it is a criminal act. We must support this right as it is a very basic HUMAN RIGHT!

  • Hear this,,,,I am 21 yrs old and live in florida.Yup I still live with my adoptive fam wich have emotionally made me unstable all of my life.Evrytime I try to get real answers about my birthmom or fam,I keep getting the runaraound.WEll folks I will have you all know,I have assembled a team of LAN artists and wrote a very strong letter to the adoption foundation and law legislators, about how we will on,8/21/08 gain acess to all sealed records, and open them to all who need to know.

  • Awesome video! Open records are long overdue.

  • "Keep your mouth shut ..."

Adoptees are SICK of keeping our mouths shut. It is time for us to know our own truths!

  • :O i'm an adoptee.

  • good video and the meaning is really important..but i don't really see what it has to do with the song?

  • not trying to be flip , but if you held a position in the adoption triad ,you wouldn't need to ask .......

  • Great video! For those of us who are adopted, it is so important to know where we came from! My parent's and I found out valuable information and we even have a relationship with some of my biological siblings which has given us an extended family with more love. God does have a plan.

  • This is beautiful! It touches all adoptees and will bring awareness to the general public.

  • Great video! I was adopted 10/27/83 and am a big supporter of access to birth records for adult adoptees!

  • Great video with a powerful message! nmom.

  • Good job from a mom of a daughter surrendered in 1966 and who is a supporter of open records

  • I wish you could help all of us in our searchs for our familys, we get so down due to every one always telling us NO.. We need help some where............

  • Here's to you for raising awareness about equal access to birth records for adopted people!

  • Good job. This video is exactly why I advocate TRUE open adoption. (Not "promised" open adoption.) I adopted my son at 6 weeks old in February. Our adoption is extremely open. Not open like pictures or annual visits, but open like I teach at the school where my son's firstmother attends.

When she got his original birth certificate, I immediately requested a copy. I will have a copy in our files and put one in his scrapbook. There will be no secrets.

  • Loved it. Beautiful video and great song. You did us proud. Let's hope it makes a difference.

  • thats such a beautiful video

  • I love it you guys. the song is perfect and the message is simple for the simple minded. Love the pics too. see you later.

    Kaluah

  • I hope this video wins, wins to raise awareness for the adult adoptees, who are currently denied their right to their BIRTH records!

  • Great video, good luck with the contest.

  • This is beautiful. You did a great job and I hope that this video is the winner.

  • Fantastic video. My identity is being held hostage by the State. My identity doesn't belong to anyone but ME.

    Equal rights for Adoptees NOW!

  • I, too, believe these records believe to the adoptees themselves. This is a human rights issue, and knowledge of their family histories is a birth right that they are currently being denied. I hope this video wins and raises awareness on this issue.

  • I'm a pre-adoptive parent... sister in law to an adoptee... and very much pro open records for adoptees. Thanks for the great video. I hope this will bring more attention to this struggle.

  • Awesome video!! Cheers to you for impacting so many people. I know that it is about time adoptees have our rights...I never signed anything at birth that I wanted less rights than any other human being. God Bless and Good Luck with the contest.

  • Absolutely. Adult adoptees have the right to know the truth about their past -- information on legal documents should be equally available to adopted and non-adopted people.

  • I am an adoptive parent of three and I totally agree with your message. I have always taught my children that they were adopted and have information about their birthfamilies for when they ask about it. Even if yu never find out, remember you are who you are, no matter where you came from. Keep it up.

  • YES! It is a basic human right to know our natural born heredity. Those adopted and their families of origin are denied knowledge of each other. This is imposed upon them by the powers that be. Do not believe the myth of confidentiality this is yet another imposition placed on young, unwed mothers. Keeping adoption records sealed only perpetuates shame. No one should be made to feel shameful for their existence no matter what their family status is.

  • It's beautiful. You guys did an AWESOME job.

  • I am glad someone is trying to get the message out in this way. It is one thing as an adult adoptee that I wish I could get. I have met my Birthmother, her siblings and my half siblings but some of us are not that lucky. Great Job!

  • Great video! Every person, whether adopted or not, should have access to their original birth records. It's part of who we are.

  • Awesome video...really makes a statement. I totally agree - it is a right every adoptee should have. I hope you win!

  • The world needs to hear this message! Adult adoptees have the right to know their stories. Thanks for this poignant video.

  • Great video ! I am an adult adoptee who searched for her origins, & have been reunited since 1994. I support open records, & intend to see it happen in _all_ of our states in my lifetime. Thank you for your efforts & getting the word out in such a unique way !

  • Wonderful video and message!! As the adoptive parent to a little boy from Russia, it amazes me that I have been able to locate his birthfamily in Russia--yes,RUSSIA!!!!??, yet American adoptees aren't allowed access to their own history?? You own it...keep fighting!!

    Susan

  • Adult adoptees are treated as perptual children in America. We deserve to have the same right as everyone else to our heritage, identity, history ~ for us and our children. When you deny one person their rights, you put at jeopardy everyone else's also. Please do the right thing, American government, and unlock our lives ~ pass laws which allow us to own our personal obc.

  • powerful video hope you win!!!

  • great video!

  • Beautiful!

  • Very good !! Every person has a right to know his roots, his family and medical history. Adoption laws in many states prevent this. Give adoptees the same rights as any other adult.

  • I Really hope that anyone who sees this has their eyes opened! I will keep promoting this video and telling anyone and everyone that every citizen in this country has the right to their Orignal Birth Certficate. I will keep talking and speaking my truth and all of you should as well..

  • Excellent Video. Every person deserves to know who they are and where they came from. Secrets hurt everyone.

  • Wow... outstanding!! You don't have to be touched by adoption (though we all probably are in some way) to get the message.

  • This is an awesome video for those of us who have been touched by adoption. Thanks for remembering the often forgotten people when it comes to basic human rights. Access to a birth certificate...is that too much to ask?

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • Wonderful video...please get the word out that all adoptees are human beings just wanting what is rightfully theirs - their heritage...this video is a great voice!

  • Absolutely terrific!! And YES YES YES to open records for all adoptees!

  • Another adoptive parent says, "amen."

  • Excellent video.

  • Kudos to you and the video from an adoptive mother and an adoption worker. If enough people speak out maybe there will be change.

  • Birthmom for open records <3 I missed rating the video, so here goes ;)

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!!!! Together we will all make a difference. I SUPPORT OPEN RECORD. NO MORE LIES. Keep up the great work <3

  • True.. Thanks for supporting the efforts.

  • everyone should see this. how can society at large simple ignore this plea for such a basic human right?

  • thank you for letting the world know how ridiculous some laws can be. in this day and age it seems as if an adoptee would certainly be able to find the missing piece of their life puzzle. I SUPPORT OPEN RECORDS!!!

  • thank you!

I hope you win, so more Americans

can see this message, and maybe see that adoptees

    are people too.

  • Amen.

  • Very well done.

  • This is fabulous! Open the records, make all citizens truly equal! Very, very touching.

  • Really moving, informative and just plain nifty!

  • Thanks for making this! It's insane that adoptees are deprived of this basic civil right!!!

  • Great job Kevin!

    You WILL make a difference!

  • Awesome Video! More people need to know about this. My wife was adopted and it drove her crazy when we were going to start a family that she has no idea what her medical history is and how it may effect the baby etc. It is such an important message to get out to the public. Keep up the great work!

  • Wonderful video! My spouse and I are both adopted so this is a big issue in our lives. Opening adoption records is extremely important.

  • yes yes yes!! brilliant, i can't stop watching it, all day every day this video ROCKS!!

  • Great video!! Words of the song really fit the subject. Really opened my eyes about adoption, something i never thought about before. Hope it wins!!

  • LOVE IT,, I'm putting it on my page on myspace

  • AWESOME VIDEO! All people should have access to their orginal birth certificates!! Thank you my fellow adoptees for making this video and standing up for us all.

  • I have tears in my eyes. I found my birth mom and 4 brothers. Every adoptee should have the change to experience the feeling of being reunited. Thank you for sharing this with all of us and for sharing the knowledge.

  • OPEN RECORDS IN ALL STATES! I am searching in Arkansas.

  • Awesome video. thank you for getting the word out...

sealed adoption records are a civil rights/human rights violation that puts the lives of adoptees and their children in jeaopardy. The states with sealed records hang on to the files...if not for adult adoptees and their families than for whom?

  • Most Excellent Video!

    I'm an adoptee from PA.

Open the adoption records for crimminey sakes! Let's get real huh?! Why don't we have the right to know, at least, our medical history?

  • This is awesome, the more we get the word out the better it is. We have a right to know who we are and where we come from.

It's kinda of spooky one of the pictures looks just like me as a kid. Makes ya go HMMM!!!

  • Great !

    I loved it.

I am a Maine adoptee who had to hire a lawyer to have my adoption records opened for myself and 1 sister who were both adopted by the same family .I have met some of my birth family and still keep in contact .

KEEP UP the good work ! !

  • I encourage everything to let everyone you know about this video!

  • GREAT! Please everyone--support open adoption records--it's a crying shame that adoptees cannot learn their origins/family history, or most importantly, their medical history.

  • Love it - good stuff!

    GO HONESTY IN ADOPTION!

    Original Birth Certificates for ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This thing is taking off. I have been watching the responses. YIPPPEEEEE

  • I love it! I've been looking for my husband's birthfamily for several years now and I totally support opening adoption records in all states.

  • Beautiful video.

  • This is wonderful. I love the facts mixed in with the images and music.

  • As an adoptee I thank you for this great video!

  • Thank you so much for making this video. It rocks! Great job!

  • What a wonderful way to let people know how many are touched by adoption and deserve access to there birth certificates. We do have a voice and you have given it to us.

    Blessings.

  • Great video with a very important message - the effects of adoption need to be made public. I full heartedly support open adoption records for all.

  • I support the opening of all Sealed Adoption Records.

Love the Song & Video. We deserve to have that missing piece of the puzzle to or LIFES.

  • Great video and a great way to get the message out.

Support open records for adult adoptees!

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We must stand together and let our government hear our voices. We deserve to know our heritage. It is our right.

  • An important civil rights issue. I posted on my blog.

  • I love what it says and means. We are behind this video all the way. Great work...

  • Compelling and thoughtful.

My best wishes to all of you, and particularly to one.

    AVR

  • Great video with a critical message for all connected to adoption and especially the people in political office who can change our laws and allow us to know our roots, our culture and our medical information. Excellent job!!!

  • how eye opening..

i loved this...and will pass it on

  • Too many adoptees and/or their children are dying because of closed records! It is time to stop the secrets and give adoptees the truth! I am a birth mother and a free searcher with EMLA helping adoptees with medical emergencies find their birth families. Thank you for the great video with a very important message!

Emergency Medical Locators for Adoptees - (free searches for adoptees in need their medical history for emergency purposes and situations)

  • How True!

  • I wish everyone felt the way I did while watching this Excellent Video. I cannot say how much I appreciate it! A+ X infinity !!!!!

    Lisa (Adoptee)

  • Great Video!!!! It is cruel to withhold information about a person's heritage- exactly who is being protected? I am a firstmom who would never withhold information about my son's

  • Nice tune, clear message. Open records will restore the dignity and full citizenship rights to adopted people. It wil also help to prevent the exploitation of natural parents that go on under the cover of closed records.

    Ope

  • T I had no idea you were so hot! Love the video! I almost cried! Not like that surprises you, or should surprise anyone at all! This comment blows!

  • I never asked for privacy! Almost all mothers can say the same! I wanted my child to know where and who I was! OPEN THE RECORDS NOW!!!

  • Great job!

Signed a reunited adoptee who's records were closed and had to find "other ways" to be reunited with the family who missed her for 30 years!

  • Let's all share this with our State and US Representatives! Maybe we can be heard! Please help those of us who are adopted and don't have the knowledge of where we came from - Alex Haley has written "In all of us there is a hunger, marrow deep, to know our heritage—to know who we are and where we came from." Let's spread the word that we need to know!

  • Thank you for a great video. I hope it shines some light on the secrets that are hurting so many with sealed records. Everyone should know their origin, and history. Adult adoptee's have rights too!

thank you from the wife of an adoptee who I've witnessed the hurt and emptiness inside due to the adoption and secrets.

I was blessed to see some healing when we found my husbands birthdad... now still searching for his mom. it shouldn't be so hard....

  • Also missed the rating - think this is a subject that has been too long in the shadows - we need to give all adult adoptees access to their heritages. Best video I've seen lately on the subject!

  • This could be the difference between life and death to an adult adoptee with medical issues.

We must change the laws in this country to make birth certificates and adoption documents accessable to adult adoptees. Future adoptions need to be open records so these kinds of problems never happen again.

  • Sorry... missed the rating part... THUMBS UP! A Big High 5!

  • Wonderful Video...What a great way to get the word out on this issue!

  • It is absolutely ridiculous that these archaic laws denying adult adopted people (and yes, even their natural mothers)equal access to their original birth certificates are still in place. Enough is enough already... Who are 'they' really trying to protect? I know it ain't me (a natural mother in reunion), nor do I believe it is the adult adopted person.. Who does that leave?????

  • I lost a child thru coercion to adoption. I, too, never asked for any privacy! Open records to all of us mothers, too! We gave birth so why should we not have open access to the original birth certificate of our own child????? Open the records to our children so they can know who they are and to have access to vital medical records. To heck with secrecy ... everyone has a right to know who they are and from where they came!!! Heritage is life and life is heritage!!!!

  • Great video. Passing it on.

  • This is a issue that is closer to more people than we all realize. So many do not register because of the fear that has been perpetuated. We are not second class, we are not untrustworthy. Give us our rights, open birth records!!

  • Great video!!! Adoptees need access to the original birth certificates, medical info and personal histories NOW!!!!!

  • Thank you for bringing attention to the subject of adoption and record access! The more people know how important opening access to these records is the less people will fear the process.

  • Thank you! There are millions of original parents who lost a child to adoption; for most women, it was a trauma from which they have never healed. Now, when they want to provide knowledge about their child's origins, circumstances of relinquishment, family medical history, genetics, they are blocked by these insane secrecy laws. That adult adoptees are barred by law from learning about themselves is an un-Constitutional deprivation of civil rights.

  • This Rocks!

  • Excellent video about a topic that is all too often brushed under the carpet. As an adoptee in search of my basic birth right to know who I am and where I come from, THANK YOU!

  • Give my son HIS birth certificate. It's HIS!!

  • Adoptees in the US are the most disrespected people in this country. To tell a child they can not know their parents names is the epitomy of evil and it is child abuse and major neglect. I am digusted with The Churches role in this, engaging in the lies that our mothers did not want us to know who they are, punishing instead of forgiving both are mothers and us innocent adoptees. Social workers have abused us as well.

  • Closed records = closed minds, hearts and souls.

Open them up now. Let us know who we are, and stop "protecting" us from our birthright.

  • Loved your video - good job. To bramasolecrafts. As a mother who relinquished a child to adoption, we were not promised privacy, nor do we need it. Nor do statistics indicate that privacy encourage more adoptions - the majority of adoptions are now open.

  • To deny adoptees access to their birth records is a denial of civil liberties and should be stopped NOW. The only people who are benefitted by this old-fashioned, out of date practice is adopters.

  • What a powerful video! Hard to believe there is an entire class of American citizens who STILL are not protected by the Constitution. Adoptees are human beings, not chattel.

  • Wonderful job...adoptees have been denied basic civil rights for far too long!!

    OPEN OUR RECORDS....NOW!!

  • This video will change someone's life. What a powerful and honest message. NO more secrets, NO more lies!

THANK YOU from the husband of an adoptee and a friend to many others.

  • Absolutely brilliant.

All Australians adoptees have access to their identity - WHY DON'T AMERICANS???

    Open records NOW.

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!! Great Video! Really hits home.

  • Awesome video!! well done you guys!! I will blast it all over the place, this needs to be heard, you're spreading the word, i am so honored to know you guys.... wow!!

  • What a great video and song!!! The need for open adoption records is long overdue. I am a birthmother and was fortunate enough to find my son and able to give him "his past". No matter where he travels, he knows where his roots lie.

  • Well done - a subject many seldom think about. I told KT I thought those who gave their babies up for adoption had the right to privacy. I still believe the possibility of privacy encourages more to consider adoption over abortion, but I agree that more problems are created by the unknown. These adults are missing vital info that could effect their lives, their children's & more. These adults have a right to know as much about their origins as possible. Thanks, KT, for making us aware. Great job

  • Excellent song and a crucial message to allow the over 18 million people in this country affected by adoption to have their truth. Adopted adults vote, run for government and go to war to defend our country. The least they deserve is the truth of their origins.

  • Excellent. Moving and very beautiful. It has now been posted across the web.

  • Even access to non-identifying information, like medical histories, would be an excellent place to start. I'm lucky enough to have found my birthmother and I have some information I never thought I'd have.

An excellent interpretation of the song. Nicely done ;)

  • I'm glad you've found your birthmother. Finding my son was a miracle for both of us, the end of 38 years of my wondering and worrying. It's a good thing to know your roots!

  • Spread the WORD!!!! You can make a difference for so many.

  • This is a very powerful video, with a very important message. I hope and pray that all the provinces and states which still deny adoptees their basic human right to know who they are will finally do the right thing.

Pam, who still, at the age of 55, can't get her original birth certificate from Manitoba

  • This totally awesome!! As a birth mother and a sibling to an adoptee, we need these records OPENED!!!!

    Lorrie

  • This is an awesome video. My wish is that all adoptees find their birth family including me.

  • Way cool!!! Love it!

  • KT is a FREEKIN GENIUS.

    This is SOOO beautiful.

Did I mention that I LIKE it

  • My mom is adopted. Closed records affect me too. This video is AWESOME, I hope you guys win!!!

  • This was a very well done video and I will keep my fingers crossed that those states who don't allow it now will soon change their laws! (Not holding my breath tho,)

  • Very good message very well done. Stand up for your US Constitution the freedom to access information is all there so use it and protect it.

  • this is a great video!! Great job!! Speak truth to power!!

  • Great!!! this just might be an answer to so much. Thanks

  • YEAH - AWESOME!!!!! Thank you so much for making this. Power to adoptees!

  • Excellent video, thank you.

  • AWESOME....such a strong & powerful message...Missy said it best "WOW"

    NAMASTE

  • really nice work on this. Good Job Kevin!

  • Thank you K. My birth certificate - my right!

  • Right on, KT. Good job.

  • Wonderful, powerful! I hope you win and that this video makes a positive impact!

  • Wow - great job. Loved it!!

  • Powerful!
