I had planned to give my baby up for adoption in 1969. I'm sad to say that he was stillborn and I never had to make that decision. I don't know if I could have. I used to dream that it was all a mistake. That he would someday walk up to my home and ring my doorbell. Unfortunately, I always wake up from the dream. I would give everything for the dream to be true. I hope SO much that all of you will be able to find where you came from.

Good job. This video is exactly why I advocate TRUE open adoption. (Not "promised" open adoption.) I adopted my son at 6 weeks old in February. Our adoption is extremely open. Not open like pictures or annual visits, but open like I teach at the school where my son's firstmother attends.

When she got his original birth certificate, I immediately requested a copy. I will have a copy in our files and put one in his scrapbook. There will be no secrets.

YES! It is a basic human right to know our natural born heredity. Those adopted and their families of origin are denied knowledge of each other. This is imposed upon them by the powers that be. Do not believe the myth of confidentiality this is yet another imposition placed on young, unwed mothers. Keeping adoption records sealed only perpetuates shame. No one should be made to feel shameful for their existence no matter what their family status is.
