Some cultural differences in the original Japanese version vs. the U.S. version;
Here in the U.S. version Capt. Wildstar doesn't retreat because he wants to give the 471 crew members on Avatar's ship a chance of survival. In this way he's "thinking of the greater good", a concept Americans can understand.
In the original Japanese version Wildstar doesn't retreat because that would be a HUGE disgrace. He even says to Avatar angrily "I want to be able to look my dead crew mates in the face in
@psychofish4444 me too..religiously, I would "Fly"around on my bike all around my neighborhood fighting Gamilons and Natzis..lol my Front Yard had a SaturnV (magnolia tree with awesome seats)
I was home sick with the flu when I saw this show. I thought I had halucinated it because I could not remember the name for the longest time. So glad to see it on here (and that I didn't dream it...lol) It was a awesome show. Epic is the right way to describe it.
b, this is my last post to you on this. but don't worry, it'll be ok.
so here's the most basic similarity:
star force: good guys
usa: good guys
desslok/gamilons: bad guys
hitler/nazis: bad guys
i hope you can comprehend that, 'cause if if you need me to cut the meat of this point any further, it would have the consistency of baby food. so you'll just have to forgive me if i decide not to do it, out of respecting you too much to feed you gerber at this stage of your life.
@dukenthaylor during world war 2 usa wasnt just fighting the nazis they were also fighting japan and japan had the yamato one of most largest battleships the world has ever seen this is the usa verison of the space battle ship yamato
@hellhound737 i KNOW that my country didn't kick JUST nazi ass in WW2; i didn't have reason to say or imply that they did, so...I DIDN'T! likewise, i ALSO KNOW that the Argo is the US name/version of Japanese Yamato; also likewise, i didn't have reason to say or imply that IT wasn't, so...again, likewise...I DIDN'T!
.
The Gamilons in Star Blazers DON'T bring to mind the Japanese. They DO bring to mind the Nazi Germans. EVEN DESSLOK'S NAME is obviously influenced by Germanic nomenclature!
This is the Earth flagship 225. Our answer: Idiots! Over...

(continued)..."face in the afterlife." Death before dishonour, a concept that the Japanese can understand.

c'mon, B!
the story of the star force battling desslok and the gamilons here...
is fictionalized in this toon space-war epic...
in a way that reflects the similar feel of the real-life story of...
the usa battling hitler and the nazis during WWII.
there are many similarities between these stories, clear enough for most to see.
