In the 70s, life for an extended "while" was REAL tough.
SH (& Elton John's Island Girl & the Bros. Johnson's Strawberry Letter) helped immensely in easing the load, sending a message to the worries that they were going to be given notice, evicted, thrown out on the curb when things would be turned around.
I too am sorry about Clive. I saw nothing in the news in 2009 about this and his passing certainly should have been given more respect.
A Superb remake...very faithful to the original (this comming from a person who despises sampling and the 'Let's redo that great tyne and IMPROVE it'-type of mindset so common nowadays.
Rest in Peace my old friend Clive on keyboard. I was hoping you could come and hang out when I come to visit UK next year. Fond memories of you are written in the clouds above Radford Coventry where we grew up. I am so saddened that I did not get to see you again. Coventry has lost one of its brightest stars.
I am too sad to have just discovered that while I was getting ready to celebrate my 60th birthday in May, my childhood friend Clive Scott had passed. We grew up around the corner from each other in Coventry. FirsI met when I moved to England from Jamaica in 1962 He was a wonderful friend and role model during my teenage years. He was one of the sweetest English men I ever knew. I lost touch with him in 1979 , when I moved to the USA. Rest Peace my old friend.
Reading through the info provided by Ian Levine about this video, I think this is the orignal singer/songwriter Des Dyer along with the original keyboard player/songwriter Clive Scott. Sadly Clive passed away recently. Brilliant song.
Jigsaw was part of my history a great band saw them many times and they were always entertaining and really nice guys scotty will be sorely missed thank you for the great music m8
Clive Scott will be missed.Along with Des Dyer they were two of the most underrated songwriters in the history of rock and roll.Ian,if you ever get a chance. How about a cd of Jigsaw hits and rarities?
Clive was a lovely man and I have fond memories of him in Jigsaw when they appeared in Chatham Naval Base on numerous occasions..God Bless You Clive x
On behalf of Carol, Leah & myself, we want to express our sadness for the loss of Clive - a friend to us all, and our thoughts are with Ann, Sam and Bren... at this time. Along with his family, his legacy will be the wonderful songs he has written & performed with his friends and colleagues. We'll all miss him.
It is with a painfully heavy heart, and with the deepest of sadness burdening my soul, that I have to tell you all that my wonderful and brilliant and irreplaceable songwriting partner of the last sixteen years, Clive Scott, passed away on Sunday night, after suffering a massive stroke as a complication of him falling off a ladder onto concrete two weeks ago. The world will never be the same.
So sad to hear about Clive. I been on with Jigsaw a number of times around various RAF bases and clubs in the East Anglia/Peterborough area in the 1970s.. My condolences to family and friends
Very sad news about Clive. Sky High is one of my alltime favourate songs ever, even if i was too young to know about the original release! There is a certain "happy, nostagic sadness" about it, if it makes any sense?
Clive Scott of Jigsaw, who has been my co-producer and co-writer for the last sixteen years, has had a terrible accident. He's fallen off a ladder and has multiple shattered bones plus bleeding in his brain, and he's in intensive care and it's touch and go. I am numb right now, and don't know what else to say. I ask anyone who has ever enjoyed our music to say a prayer for him please.
AWESOME! Loved this song as a kid growing up in the '70s and still do-40 now. Incredible job in making the song actually sound better than the original version. Thumbs UP !!
This song was the start of my musical career when we performed it for Hughie Green on Oppertunity Knocks, ( now Im showing my age).We were called 'Astral Plane' and we came second. That was way back in 76. Funny but we met the guys at a hotel gig they were doing in Salisbury some ten years later. Ive always been a fan of Scott/Dyer and they have to be Two of the most underestimated songwriters this country ever produced. Thanks guys for some great work and inspiration.

Have you read the paper's, Have you heard the new's,
Then why'd you get out of bed,
Did'nt you read what they said,
They said todays the coldest monday, Since it broke that awfulf sunday,
was it in the afternoon,
I lost my head,I forget.........................
A song that I love by Scott/Dyer that I used to play quite often, but now has a very different meaning to me.
I was shocked by the news of Clives death and still cant believe it. R I P Clive.
