The Bible has many contradictory verses. Some would argue that scripture in the Old testament is renewed by the New testament. 2 Timothy 3:16 is allowing the Bible to contradict itself by saying that ALL scripture can be used to teach even if it contradicts itself. For example, especially in Leviticus and Deuteronomy talk about putting people to death for disobeying the word of god. In Mathew and the 10 commandments, they both say murder is a sin.
I wish there was a non-anti-creationist version of this. The message about human intelligence and societal knowledge is inspiring, and I'm willing to wager you could get many creationist (just one would be worth the effort) to start asking questions that would lead them to scientific understanding for themselves.

The only 'treatment' was vaccinations and Quarantine/isolation of individuals that were ill with the disease. Other than that, the only treatment was symptomatic and usually left some sort of a scar or other disfigurement afterwards assuming the disease didn't eventually kill the patient.

Thunderf00t, I'm with you in spirit, but I have to point out that no society has successfully treated Small-pox (even the modified version). It needs to be said that prayer is ineffective at treatment.
The only 'treatment' was vaccinations and Quarantine/isolation of individuals that were ill with the disease. Other than that, the only treatment was symptomatic and usually left some sort of a scar or other disfigurement afterwards assuming the disease didn't eventually kill the patient.

Religious people are a detriment to society, good thing all important world leaders, and religious leaders at that, are atheist. If someone truly believed they were going to heaven, what's to stop them donating everything to charity to help people who don't have the bare minimum, surely comforts in this life mean nothing to someone who is going to have an eternity of paradise. Alas no religious person will, as none truly have faith, they just cannot accept their own immortality.

Alright if you don't say God exist then thell me this what created everything?Don't say the big bang if you do tell me what made that and what made that.Also you can't make something out of nothing then nothing will be in existence.Some sort of Infinite being or object is out there and that is what i refer to be God.

@goblinchieftain He/she or it has always been there as in he/she or it is infinite.This God probably isn't what we humans think it is.It could be an object or it could be something different.What I refer to god isn't what we humans have created I call w/e was always here.Think about it something has always have to be here.I don't really believe in any major religion I do adapt it's moral teachings b/c I think they're sensible like don't steal or murder,etc.

@TheOrangeAlex I don't see how believing in an infinite god-being is any different from believing that the universe could form spontaneously. Since anything outside of our universe is by definition beyond our ability to experience, all speculations are equally valid (or invalid). That would seem to make the entire concept of god(s) moot.

@TheOrangeAlex I'm aware that Egypt had religion but they didn't have a monotheist relgion. They believed in science because they didn't have one god that just "made everything." If they didn't understand something they just created a new god and said he/she did it, but they were always looking for answers, they knew the circumfrance of the earth thousands of years ago.

@TheOrangeAlex I have never read any scientific papers that say they know what caused the big bang. The fact is we know that a big bang happened, we don't know what caused it. That's what science is, we observe and then we derive answers from our observations.

@TheOrangeAlex Scientists don't say that the big bang is proof against god, Creationists (and other sects of christianity) say that god is proof against the big bang. If religion was able to adapt to new information and say "god caused the big bang and helped push evolution the right way to create intelligent life" I wouldn't be against it. But it's people who say that the universe is 6,000 years old and was pooped into existance along with all the life that makes me angry.

@shagoosty Yeah you got me there but it's more of both.Deism is still more accurate then any other religion IMO though.The only thing they have in common is to change people to be good and try to make this world better but some people misunderstood that and somehow religions fight against each other for some mythical land.I'd say Jesus was a great philosopher w/ the intentions of making people see the light and have more common sense in not doing bad things cuz some people are kind of stupid.

@shagoosty Yeah but you can't really blame religion directly for the choices people make.Everyone is different but the majority are kind of dumb and need someone to lead them.They're weak they need to be taught lessons on how to live.Basically Children need to be better raised and in better places.You know what they say Childrean are innocent they're clay and the place and the way they grow up molds them.If we want to change we need to change the way kids grow and develop.

@shagoosty Pretty much spot on but some people need comfor to keep on living if you tell someone they'll just rott in the ground they'll lose all hope and jsut give up in the long run.The smart ones will ignore it and move and learn to live while they still can.Children aren't born Atheist they are born with nothing but the vessel they will live in for the rest of their lives they'll have to figure out what they want to believe on their own unless someone raises the child in someway.

The reason it's there is most likely due to the fact that people who listened to stories ("People who eat those berries die") lived and passed on their genes. The problem is we believe in the bullshit stories too ("There was a world wide flood.) The invention of relgion is just that, an invention. Used by people to control a populace.
