Bond is a different style of espionage. It's more fantasy. And it wasn't so much a relaunch. The idea behind James Bond is that the name is picked up by the top agent in MI-6. His DOB, and various other aspects of his origin vary drastically. Look up his details in depth sometime.

Who cares if Bond was first? Bourne's a far superior creative thinker. Looking good in a tux does nothing for you in any of the situations Bourne gets caught up in. Bond would be dead if he tried to step in Bourne's shoes. In the books, I'll bet Bourne would have Bond's real identity in less than a month. He's like the CIA's wet dream. He doesn't need fancy gadgets. He's a strategic genius. (Plus, in the books, he's actually schizophrenic, which makes him interesting.)

@17jun1989 bourne owned JB for a couple of reasons:

1: way better acting

2: better storyline

3: not some macho shit where he fuckes a girl, she dies, he cries, gets another girl and forgets about his last 13

4: you have to actualy think to be able to folow the storyline wich makes it much more tense :)

in my opinion james bond got old and boring, bourne is way better

@DJ3G3T5 Spy films were actually born because of Ian Flemming's James Bond Books and Films. So if it wasn't for Bond, Bourne wouldn't of happened. Not just Spy films but most Action Thrillers. And if you study each Bonds and films there not all the same, have a look at Timothy Dalton's approach of Bond. But in all i love Bourne and all Spy Movies, such as Mission Impossible, and others.

@DJ3G3T5 Jason Bourne, is alot different from Bond, Jason Bourne is an disavowed agent who lost hes memory, and is trying to figure out who he is, as James Bond varies from saving the world to Vengeance and Romance with Violence. I agree Bournes realism is nice to watch but the whole thrill of films is to make viewers believe that inevitable can happen in all sorts of circumstances that Bond is given whether he is trapped in a cave or held at gun point makes a Novelistic feel as it was.
