  • Now that's one beautiful Volvo...

  • I heard these are great cars, how are they on maintenance? How good is the XC model off road? I want a car that can take me farther than the average car off road, (but not like major mudding and mountain climbing) but can still be a good car without all the big cons of a SUV/pickup truck.

Sorry for the long comment but I wanna get down to one or two cars rather then have like 5-6 for different uses :P

  • @braydenmartindale lol, they are REALLY good in the snow, i mean like really good. i towed out 6 cars out of the snow taht winter... and they have a decent amount of power, and good fuel economy. its fullly loaded too, a/c, cruise, auto climate control, and it has like 3 modes for the ECU, winter, sport, and economy. i personally drive on the sports mode just cuz i LOVE the sound of the engine. i highly reconmend it. =)

  • @braydenmartindale i have a 98 cross country and i love the car.

Roomy, more power than you will need, smart awd system (ecu transfers power away from slipping wheels) Not very good on gas if your a lead foot :) Better have deep pockets if you like to keep them tip top. You fix one problem and three pop up. But the only thing that comes close to this in my ohio winter is my polaris 488 snowmobile.

  • @braydenmartindale my volvo xc70 is at 190k ONLY problem i had w/ it was the angle box paid for it once, dealer replaced it for free 3x's, come to find out there was a "software" glitch. since then, i have no oil leaks or problems w/ my volvo. i love her as much as the day i first bought her!

  • these people are a joke

  • There is nothing wrong with viscous kids...my Vw Syncros are some of the most capable 4x4 every put on public roads...and they are amazing viscous systems.

  • Ever heard of a rearend mirror or is that a frikking option down in EU?!?

  • stop, stop, stop!!!!!! hahahaha

  • That's not even haldex, before 01 it was visco(useless 4wd)

haldex would have been much better there, been using both haldex and torsen myself

  • LOL... it takes skill to get stuck in that little snow. And what is the rope doing tied to the rear wiper???

  • I can't believe you didn't rip that bumper off. you should tie the rope to the frames not plastic bumpers.

  • how can we see how the awd works when you filmed only back wheels?

  • @Areoplane7

The V70 is front wheeled unless that pair spins, if so torque is sent back to the rear wheel pair, in this model by a visco coupling! ;-)

  • @schwwein I know it haldex but thx :D

my point = he should have taped the whole car so we can see front to rear wheel power transfer

  • don't rip ur bumper and rear wiper off! good job

  • WHy the hell did you point the came to the ground for the most interesting parts ?? OO

  • ,,stop!stop!stop!!,, -lol

  • This Volvo has not real AWD!

  • why

  • In Sweden we call it Haldexkopplingen = oildifferential. Hydraulic differential

  • well in north america, we call it AWD.

it works pretty much the same as Awd so who cares. the point is that the V70 is a great car =]

  • yes, he mean that haldex is the name on the awd system. its swedish company so you americans maybe have another name for it but in europe everyone know what you mean if you say haldex :P

  • @240Grabben

This car hasn't got the HALDEX system. V70 Gen 1 uses the visco system. 2nd gen V70 (and V70 XC / XC70) used visco until around MY02, so around MY03 was the first MY with HALDEX.

  • @240Grabben

Rättelse det är en viskokoppling, förstår inte vad du menar med att det inte är riktig awd. Driver det på alla hjul är det awd (All Wheels Drive). Sen att det inte är konstant fyrhjulsdrift är en annan sak.

Sorry for writing in swedish but i needed to explain something to this fellow. I have a volvo 855 awd with the same awd system, it´s great fun to drive in the winter :D

  • @240Grabben You're right, Audi and Subaru = AWD. Haldex (ex: Volvo, VW) means it only locks in another axle when needed... Therefore 2 wheel drive until the system senses slipping, therefore lag until it becomes AWD, therefore somewhat unpredictable handling charicteristics...

  • @quattro4kss Thanks :) somone who gets it!

  • I saw a review where an XC90 AWD was freewheeling during its off-road run..

  • would be great to see some more videos of the V70 AWD.

  • ill try to get some more. maybe interior?

p.s: this oldsmobile is the 4th car we tolled out of snow banks this winter.

  • that would be great. have you ever got the V70 stuck in the snow?

  • lol, good question, but with this car's AWd and Traction control? no i havnt.

  • nice. great to know. thanks for the replies-i look forward to seeing another video of the car.

  • np. its great to know that someone shares the same hobby as me. btw, what car do u have? =]

  • well, im only 15 so i can only drive on deserted lanes-1987 Fiat Panda 4x4. But my dad has a 1998 V70XC AWD.

  • i like ur ride bro^^

  • volvos are good in the snow

  • "STOP STOP STOP!!!" LOL. But good try and demostrating the AWD aspect. Would of been great to see it work a bit better. I want one.

  • i couldn't get a better view because the road is too narrow and i had to dodge the guy thats conducting so, ill try to get a better view next time.
