  • Man, that looks sh*t-slow inside!! 8 secs to 60? I have the 2.8 fwd and its hitting 60 in just under 6 with only a cat-back stainless, panel filter & magnacor leads.. Not even put on the 2.9 throttle body & inlet or got it mapped yet..

  • @andylieves No man...10 secs to 100. It's syncro: means much heavier with only 16 bhp more. And as you know the weight is due to all the syncro shit ;)

  • The syncro's are good at pulling in tight round corner's and overall handling, but not very good on the acceleration. where as a two wheel drive shaft vr6 will spin off the mark a lot quicker and have a lot more pull and acceleration power. That is why i would get a vr6 front wheel drive with the engine chipped then your talking power.

  • The syncro 4 wheel drive shaft golf's are not as quick as the two wheel drive shaft one's, That is why this vr6 aint going as fast as the other one's would. When you have 4 wheel drive shaft on a vr6 engine it makes it more hard work for the engine, because the pounds of torque has go between to two drive shafts giving it a little bit of drag where as a single 2 wheel drive shaft vr6 the power is more direct because the engine only has to spin one drive shaft giving it more pull.

  • vr6 arent even fast they sound good and all that.... but very embarrasing when you put the food down making all that noise and you still got someone in a fuckin clio 1.2 still on your tail!!!!

  • @dan832 well my vr6 runs a 14.6sec 1/4 mile. in a heavy mk4 jetta. i don't consider 14's slow. not even 15's.

  • @dan832 i got a 24v with a tt catback, eurosport intake and a c2 chip so that pretty much turns it into a r32. it's definitely respectable in terms of power and acceleration, but it all depends on how much money you want to dump into it. personally i cant afford every mod, or even a turbo. but you might as well turbo it instead of getting an .:R. it's $1500 less than a supercharger lol

  • @WheelChairBndit Maybe, In terms of noise I favor the VR for sure. I'm a member of a forum over here in UK. Its called E38, they have classified sections selling used chargers or deals on them all the time- we go done that route. Also I don't have full system exhaust which will be on the list. Mods on the car were on when I bought it- not many - spax adjustable- exhaust but not full- momo 280 steering wheel etc- All I've done is driven it as a daily for last 2 yr- I need more speed now!

  • @WheelChairBndit depends where you are in the world, in england my vr6 set me back 1800 quid and i have private plate ''g6 vr6'' :) its a nice a car especially as its the highline version with leather seats. Ill upload a video of it for you .... google this N30 DUB. thats like mine but mines not supercharged

  • i have a VR at the moment, it is getting taken off the road next week for 12-18 months while it gets basically new everything, bigger brakes, new pistons conrods, cams, leather interior carpets turbo'd bbs alloys and new paint job, this will take time over 18 months as its when i get more money to put into it.... with the turbo it should be over the 350bhp, was going to go for the 500bhp option but i will wait for a bit with that....

  • @jocky102 - nope, we have to import them. Only syncro i believe we got was the Passat g60 syncro (wagon-sedan). At least for Canada, unsure if the US got them (never bothered to research).

  • 3rd gear at 60MPH. My Crown Vic Switches to the third gear at 95 MPH. I don't know what power you are really talking about in the title.

  • @Amirnake and what does that prove? Only that your Crown Vic comes with a 4 speed auto so its reasonable that it has longer gearing. Anyway, why is a car still produced with 4 speed box in 2010?

  • @energymc22 Since you asked I'll tell you what it proves, Gladly.

    1st. That if your car has to switch 3 gears before you hit 60 MPH it means it does not have power. At least not enough. If you knew what a HP/RPM curve looked like, you would know that your little engine peaks power at such a narrow window, while my throbbing V8 could burn out standing still in 2nd gear and keep that gear till it hits 95 MPH. Because it will have more HP available at a wider RPM range thus is more powerful.

  • @Amirnake I have no doubt your V8 is more powerful and has more torque across a wider rev range than the engine in a Golf but you can't reach any such conclusions simply from the speed it will reach in a certain gear. Yours has a 4 speed box so the ratios are spaced further apart but again even this means nothing. Proof in point even an E60 M5 with a seven speed box, over twice as much power and quite a bit more torque than a CV still maxes out 60mph in second. Besides, 95 in 2nd is optimistic!

  • @energymc22 I will Very soon post a video of me doing a 0-110 again, With my exhaust and intake and you shall see what I mean. and There is no way an M5 hits 3rd gear at 60 MPH, my sisters 328 goes faster than that on 2dn gear. But My point is, there is a reason why my car runs a 4 speeder, it's because It can, and it is not as crucial for it to stay withing a certain RPM hence different gear ratios, becuase it puts out enough HP regardless of the RPM.

  • @Amirnake I'm not here to argue and this is my last post on the subject but firstly, with an exhaust and intake you will not manage a higher gear speed unless you raise the rev limiter via software. Secondly, in both E36 (V8) and E60 (V10) M5 second gear unwinds at 60mph check watch?v=0fzf7IK30Z8 and watch?v=3BSPmLpRaxI. In fact 99% of European cars with a petrol engine and manual box will hit between 45 and 70mph in second, the other 1% are proper performance cars with indeed "real power".

  • Amirnake - Hp is more related 2 top speed, torque is more based for acceleration. Just for giggles, ur 03 crown vic in best form (cop car package) does 0-60 in 8.7sec. Any factory golf or corrado vr6 does it in 6.8-6.9sec. Oddly the VR6 makes as much torque as it does hp. Yet oddly for a more powerful car you think your CV is, its still slower than than the vid car. Being more powerful doesnt always help. Funny ur comparing 4speed auto 2a 5 speed manual. Lots of V8s have shorter ratio gear boxes

  • @zcarporn It's all very complicated, If this guy raced me he would probably have the lead off the bat but once he's in 3rd gear I catch up. My Vic puts down about 200 on the pavement and is heavy as hell and in that video you're looking at 2.73 gears. So go figure with 3.55s I'll make dust much easier...but then again look at this car, it looks like a toy car, who cares how fast it can go, My Vic is Vicious

  • @Amirnake - Not complicated at all. HP takes over when torque falls. Gearing is a way to fake more torque. You have more weight per hp 2get that tank going. Also upping ur gears will shorten each gear in ur autobox. On top of lowering ur top speed. Btw a toy car can beat a grocery getter CV with ease, stock too. My old mk2 jetta puts down 385whp @ 2400lbs. Thats a real vicious car compared to ur claim. Still get better mileage, looks better, and faster. Your car aint no marauder.

  • @Amirnake - btw, i have worked on all types of cars for 18 years as well as drove since you were 6 years old... I also will state i owned 2 ex-cop cars (crowns vics). And i am sorry, most of your claims are false. You wont get him in 3rd gear ever. Look at the crown vics 1/4 mile times for that year. 2005 Ford Crown Victoria = 0-60 mph 8.0sec, Quarter mile 16.0sec ---- Factory 1996 Volkswagen GTI VR6 6.7sec, 0-60mph quarter mile in 15.1sec... The facts are very clear.

  • @zcarporn Just thought I'd throw an obvious one in there..but weight is a factor but most importantly its the driver... If the driver is serious about his driving skills he/she will out race any 18 year old kid that blew his college fund on a car... Personal experience after owning a 91 Talon @450hp, 2001 BMW M3 and a 2004 Subaru STi, BUT drag is just one sector of motorsports racing, try canyon racing or hit the tracks... sometimes a stock civic can dominate over the "Best" Food for thought ; ]

  • @16GDSM - I've kind of learned all that stuff a long time ago (and pointed out a few times already, did you not see that?). Power to weight ratio is important as are many other factors i have mentioned. Which is what i was trying to get Amirnake (crown vic boy) to realize (reading between the lines). But the Ford Crown Victoria guy is too ignorant to figure any of that out. On a side note... I do drag, auto-X, and circuit racing.

  • @16GDSM - NP, and i agree. I do everything i can with trying to take advantage on multiple levels. It could be power to weight, reciprocal mass, matching your gears to powerband, oem swap ability, chassis stiffening, suspension work, so much more. All work on all aspects of racing, all vary in tuning to suit. I try to build something thats capable of being driven daily, all year, and still be comfortable. Yet can be put in all situations and hold its own. To me its all about the balance.

  • @zcarporn Dude you are comparing a 4200 pound full size sedan to a toy car, it doesnt take much torque or hp to move that little thing, but if you jam 5 people in there each weighing 200ibs like I do then you see how much that engine struggles while mine will take off like a champ

  • Have you ported out the intake manifold? TIP...Cut out a square underneath make the inside hollow then weld an aluminum sheet,...mount it & feel the difference =). Lightened flywheel, and aluminum underdrive pulley will help you free up the engine even more. All you have to do is go to the machine shop. & show the real power =)
