Beautiful pictures to a lyrically wonderful sad song.
Sad because our forefathers and thiers could not come together and truly become friends and neighbors and live side by side with each other in harmony, will we ever? so sad...............
I can't tell you how excited I was to find this after about 14 years of thinking I'd never get to hear this song again. A group played it at my middle school and I've been singing the chorus since. I cannot directly empathize with the atrocities suffered by my home country's first inhabitants, but I was touched even at the tender age of 12 by the simple but elegant depth of feeling expressed in this song. The drum is a very spiritual instrument to me as well. This song never fails to move me.
A beautiful tribute to our Native Americans and their trail of tears. My great grandmother was full Cherokee and I try to always keep that legacy near and dear to my heart. Thanks for writing and sharing a beautiful song.
