  • HI Zak,

cool vids as always. Please tell me where you get your white tays, I love them!!!

    noeli

  • @SuperSupernoel As I explain in the video this is my friends setup that I'm using to demonstrate. He just gets them from a local gardening department type of store.

  • Thanks for the videos, great info! One thing though, the lights are not full spectrum, they are probably T5 bulbs in the 6000k range, 5500k-6500k for veg and 2500k-2700k for flowering, sprouts only veg so you only need the high spectrum lights. But for beginners a T12 2 light strip from home depot with two 40w 6000k will work real well.

  • @UrbanFarm210 The lights most certainly do emit UV light which is an important factor for growing sprouts or any plants.

  • i want that set up! when i get my first house i will have a whole room dedicated to sprouts(and seed supplies) please guide me in the right direction<3

  • Thank you so much for providing such a clear and informative trio of videos. Could you please recommend a website or store to buy a good quality ceramic knife? I could not find a source on your pages. My kind thanks for your time.

  • Where do you get your bulk seeds, or places I should look for in my area (Houston, TX). I don't wanna get killed with high shipping nor do I wanna pay a high price for like 1lb.

  • @sagerhys Look at my answer to the comment below.

  • Where do I get the sunflower seeds?

  • @magylyn sprouting .c om is where I get them in bulk.

  • Hi Zak - im starting my indoor wheatgrass, buckwheat, n sunflower garden and your first video really helped! I've been a bit crunched for time, not yet gotten to the second or third. Two question: can i use reg indoor lighting or need UV? I looked at your links under equiptment and I could not find indoor lighting in them - can you please help me out?? I look forward to finishing this series and checking out anything else you've already posted. Joy to you! Staci

  • Thanks for the video! I'd like to have some pointers on the planting of the presoaked sunflower sprouts: depth of planting, depth of soil in tray? Very informational video.

  • @daunaw That's covered in part 2 of 3.

  • How do you get your sunflower greens growing without all the little black seeds on the tips? It takes me ages to remove them all by hand as they seem stuck by the time I harvest them.. also If I were to just juice the greens with the black seeds would this be a problem?

    thanks!

  • @doyle430 I cant remember if I demonstrated how to get them off in parts 2 or 3, but when they're around day 5, or 7 if you water them and wait about 15 minutes you can brush your arm across them and gt about 80% of the shells off. Some will still always have them on but it makes a big difference if you can gently (but not too gently) sort of whip your arm/hand across them and they pop off onto the floor.

  • Hi Zak, I really appreciate these vids. I want to start a small grow op, for my family and to share with others. You say that the wheat grass shouldnt be in direct sunlight but if Im growing indoors using lights how will the grass and sprouts react to direct light from the plant lights? the sunflwr sprouts must need light too but when and how much on these kinds of things? Thanks for your help friend. BTW, im tuning in quite frequintly now that I found your channel. Thanks again.

  • @imgoingraw Thanks for watching and checking my vids out :)

The light from the lights is no where near as strong as the sun. Direct sunlight will dry out and damage the baby sprouts. The full spectrum UV lamps will not. Parts 2 and 3 explain how long they need to be under the light for.

  • Thanks for your time in making these videos, your a star!!!

  • I always try to soak my seeds but they always sprout while I'm soaking them

  • @jrock99618 Soak for 8-12 hours and then drain. Rinse every 12 hours after that.

  • WOW! aswesome example of a wonderful sprouting set up!

    Very nice1

  • haha a fig tree up here is definitely rare. Do you know about the guy in Mississauga that grows hundreds of fig trees on his city lot? he's kind of a species collector. awesome series though

  • @ChasinTranes Thanks, no I didn't know about him, but there's a guy at our farmers market who is selling fresh figs right now and he grows the trees in his green house...

  • i've sprouted wheatgrass and sunflowr sprouts, broccoli and cauliflaur sprouts but never even thought of buckwheat lettuce..what is that any way?

  • @calsweet It's a sprouted sprouted buckwheat groat. Very high in lecithin and rutin which helps prevent vericose veins later in life. Also very high in protein.
