  • This album, I adore.

  • Thumbs up if you think think this should've been the soundtrack to the LotR films

  • @BeforeTheBlackGates No. It's a great album but Howard Shore is a god and did a fantastic job that could not possibly be outdone, not even by Summoning.

  • @RogueAdamantiumQueen I appreciate Howard Shore, but his soundtrack sounds too conventional, sounding almost like 1000s of other movie sountracks. I think Summoning does capture the spirit of LOTR, without the black metal vocals of course.

  • i am a christ... a serb... i love jesus... but too metal and all other metal gernes... !

  • conjuering pf sotrrow of pain of darkness!!!666

  • J.R.R.TOLKIEN should be proud!!!666 importand album...

  • brilliant

  • EPIC.................

  • Weird, the fortress used in the album cover is not Minas Morgul. Looks more like Elms Deep.

  • Sounds like GuitarPRO midi-player... -_-

  • @metallisticmann Sounds like you cannot appreciate music.

  • My friends and I listen to Summoning when we play DnD..there is no better music, nor will there ever be..props be to the Black Metal gods Protector and Orion who make this possible

  • @Gankzify ...Orion...?

  • why did they call the album minas morgul and put gondolin in the picture :D

  • @peto983 lol. is it really not Minas Morgul? If they had that monstrously epic black and green image of MM back then, that probs would have been used. I'd use it.

  • This song reminds me the middle age... darker, epic and full of fear !

  • Lord of the Rings musical leader should be nothing else than SUMMONING!

    ALL HAIL TO SUMMONING!

  • Why minas morgul? Lord of the ring fan?

  • @soundofmusic94 yeah im to, whats wrong with that?

  • @666TheMetalmaniac666 mmm nothing.. just asking?

  • @soundofmusic94 well enjoy the music ;)

  • @soundofmusic94 Not only that. Summoning is full of LOTR references, Minas Morgul, The Grey Company, Khazad Dum, Dol Guldur, Flight of the Nazgul, Gray Havens, Legend of the Master Ring,.....

  • @soundofmusic94 I mean they even have a song called Saruman. lol

  • @northfromheree Fan of LOTR , rare...

  • Runescape

  • Aragorn. Elessar. Elfstone. Dunedain. The heir of Isildur. Strider.

Was there ever anyone like him?

  • Guys this is totally like that song in Ocarina of Time!

  • Reminds me of Legend of Zelda. Awesome.

  • @GoatsexKvlt

Can all you creepy kiddies shut up with comparing it to video games?

  • @RatioFarmerin No, we can´t.

  • Comment removed

  • @RatioFarmerin it sounds like something that would be in an oldschool RPG, dipshit. naturally people are going to mention the things it reminds them of, and if they think of video games when they hear this, then so be it. people enjoy music in their own way. this is nerdy music and theres nothing wrong with that, unless youre an insecure pussy whos worried about what people think of you. oh, and even the cover of this album is from an old RPG. so go suck a dick.

  • Is this Protector or Silenius? I would believe the latter, but correct me if I'm wrong...

  • @SlimJimVG Protector on this one.

  • @SlimJimVG

    luv u

  • @SlimJimVG Protector handles vocals in this song.

  • music for the batle!!!!

  • this song remains me of shinig force II,and other games of rol, very amazing song

  • I love Summoning but I really wish they sang more clearly, I can barely understand the lyrics here

  • @legion999 schäd uup

  • I still don't understand how that artistic duo made me adore their awful and cheesy synths. By means of magic, I think :)

    Great album.

  • @Helpoing

    Thank you.

  • This song perfectly expresses my feeling of disappointment in the humanity,

When i listen this song i always imagine, as I shout back to the humans, leaving them, returning back into the abysses of the mountains.

  • @Lovaszinas sry if bad english

  • @Lovaszinas Racist! :D

  • Most of the songs are places in LOTR...

  • @Ghoulkreap If it's not about a place in Middle-Earth, it's about a character from Middle-Earth. That part of what makes Summoning the shit.

  • @xPsychoxClownx i love summoning but i really can't understand what protector is singing. everything else is top notch.

  • @chiaromontestephen look up the lyrics they're a lot easier to understand if you already know what they are.

  • @xPsychoxClownx the lyrics are in the description. i try to follow them but i still have a hard time understanding when the words are sung. they're a little clearer on some of the other songs on the album.

  • some kind of Rhapsody/ Summoning collaboration could be awesome

  • Best song from them, for me :), cool medievel bm

  • Summoning's songs remind me The Death Gate Cycle...

  • this band always manages to bring the horn section to life and somehow fuse it with beautiful grim vocals

  • Blood pressure in my veins going really high when I listening Summoning. All discography is in my possession, fuck yeah!!!

  • amazing black metal. Me and my band are making a concept album based on the war of wrath and taking heavy influences from summoning

  • name fail :P awesome track thou ;)

  • I think of Halbarad, of Elrohir, and Elladan, and finally of my dog...

  • One of the best of Summoning

  • my absolute favourite Summoning song.

  • video games?? maybe you should search deeper into your arcane memories and the fires that dwell there.

  • Damn i love that fucking song and the whole discography of Summoning. This is really the Lord of the Ring Soundtrack, cheers from France brothers !

  • This song reminds me of Dragon Age so much, I dont know if anyone played that game, but it was epicx151561 plus there's this ritual that the "Grey Wardens" have to go through so it reminds me of that since it's titled the "passing of the grey company" even if im way off, id still like to picture Dragon Age in my head while listening to this. Love this album.

  • @MorbidJanette Well, that's true. DAO is a pretty good game, anyway.

  • @MorbidJanette That's what I think of, haha! Dragon Age rules, and so does Summoning!

  • @TalvellaMaa FUCK YES.

  • @MorbidJanette Idk about that. Ever since i heard it, all i can think of is Vandal Hearts for the PSX. the whole games soundtrack has music like this.

  • @MorbidJanette Well, actually, the Grey Company are Aragorn and the army of the Dead.

  • @bkemeny92 The grey company is the little group of Dunedain that was with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli :>

  • @Corey6781 Actually I think they are Aragorn, Halbarad, Elrohir, Elladan and the Army of the Dead. Seems we need to reread the Stone of Erech part :)

  • @bkemeny92 I guess you're right :D

  • @bkemeny92 And MorbidJanette and Corey6781: Thank you for the info. I had always, in passing, assumed the Grey Company to be the Fellowship under Gandalf the Grey. Seems I need to read the trilogy again!. :) Cheers and mae govannen~

  • @MorbidJanette

Fuck off. This was so more than Dragon Age. This was soundtrack to life.

  • @RatioFarmerin OH JESUS, IT SEEMS YOU HAVE A SERIOUS CASE OF TEENAGE ANGST AND BASEMENT-DWELLING NERDISM IF YOU TAKE THE EVIL IN LoTR LITERAL LIKE YOU REVEALED YOU DID IN YOUR LAST COMMENTS ON THROUGH THE FORESTS OF GOL COCKDUR. no but srsly. NOW YOU THINK THIS IS A SOUNDTRACK TO LIFE. IT'S ABOUT A FICTIONAL FUCKING WORLD. JESUS, HOW MUCH DO YOU PLAY LoTR ONLINE? HAVE YOU EVER SEEN AN ORC? OH MY SWEET GOD, I WILL SAVE YOU WITH THE POWER OF CHRIST.

  • @lolanonlol there are also small letters

  • Let's slay 8 people.

  • The other songs are only music. This is a divine poetry.

  • @RiccardoTheBeAst True. Tolkien Metal speaks Divine Poetry!

  • @elakiel I must agree to this sarcasm.

    Awesome song imo.

  • HAIL TO THIS EPIC BAND OF TRUE BLACK METAL

  • PUNCH A BABY AND SLAY A DRAGON!!

    HAIL SUMMONING!!!

  • This Song is from Summoning's "Minas Morgul" Album... not from the band Minas Morgul...

  • @Metafa666 Read the description, friend.

  • @alifeofarcticsounds hahaha xD lol

  • 16bit Black Metal :D

  • The "ghosts" were in the theatrical release as well, only Jackson added a few more scenes in the extended edition with them. But I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about Aragorn folks, tall and blessed with long life, the Dunedain rangers. They were not in the movies, though there are about 2 chapters about them in the book, they travel with Aragorn to the mountains.

  • Great Song

  • I love this song \m/, , long live the gods and Asgaard to valhalla

  • I hope they release a new album sometime in the near future.

    My favorite bm band period.

  • @guildwars69x Apparently they are recording it.

  • when the drums and guitar kick in, fucking epic

  • what the heck is this?!?!

  • @sergiu2008man lord of the rings metal

  • Actually, they write about Tolkein poetry not Lord of the Rings. But, it's still awesome and it makes me feel like a nerd with passion. >.>

  • @sergiu2008man mh? art? :3

  • And as he leaves the paths from the other end, the "grey company" follows behind him and his partners. People see them in area and cower in fear...thus the last two verses of this song. Thanks again, elakiel! Very interesting.

  • Thanks to you for the explanation !

  • Ahh! So the Oathbreakers is another name for the grey company, or should I say the proper name. These Oathbreakers are men of the mountains who broke an oath to follow this person named Isildur by turning to worship Sauron. Isildur damned the men to never rest until they fulfilled their oath. Many many years later, Aragorn has to travel through the Paths of the Dead to get somewhere and apparently ony the heir of Isildur's throne can pass through safely. He ends up being the one and makes it.

  • @Sayujinse

actually the grey company and the oathbreakers aren't the same. As you said, the oathbreakers were the men of the white mountains, perharps Dunlendings, that betrayed Isildur during the wars with Sauron on the Second Age. But the grey company was, of course a company, of men from Northern Dúnedain leaded by Halbarad who was Aragorn's kinsman, and joined too by Elladar and Elrohir, both twins sons of Elrond

  • Then help me understand this song then, if you will. Is this song not speaking of the paths of the dead? Thanks for your input!

  • @Sayujinse

Yes it is, The Passing of the Grey Company refers to the passing of Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and the company of Dúnedain men leaded by Halbarad and Elrond's sons through the Paths of the Dead, then Aragorn speaks to the dead and summons them to folllow him to the Stone of Erech. The lyrics, or some parts, are taken from the Return of the King, chapter The Passing of the Grey Company, from a prophecy made by Malbeth the Seers Word

  • @Sayujinse

if you have more doubts about any summoning lyrics, I'm more than pleased to help everybody that requests it ;)

  • The last two lines of the lyrics invoke a powerful image for me. I am not very familiar with the folklore of tolkien's works. What is the grey company? Anyone knowledgeable?

  • Search on Tolkien Gateway, cannot explain it with my actual English. Maybe someone else could help!

  • Thank you! I shall! If I learn anything, I'll share on here for others. Hail Summoning!

  • The grey company are the Dunedain rangers from north, pretty much folks like Aragorn, humans blessed with long life. When Aragorn was to take the paths of the dead with Gimli, Legolas where he was to promise the souls to free them as the King of Gondor if they help with the war, the Grey Company marches with him. In the movie you do not see them at all, which kind of saddens me : (

  • Those movies didn't really capture the essense of the mythology really. At least as far as I've heard from others (including an interview of Varg Vikernes that I read). Thanks for clearing this up also cannabisabuser! I appreciate this song all the more now that I know the story behind it. It has quite an impact.

  • In all honesty, I loved the movies for what they were. Peter Jackson changed a lot, added some things, removed others, but all in all, it was a beautiful representation of the Middle-Earth, the cast was great, the score was wonderful and the trilogy for me will always be as "one" of my favorite and best movies ever.

  • is a beautiful song I like it

  • @BalkanibalX

Summoning is great, but music score for Jackson's LOTR.... Man, it's just magic, much more than just music....

  • Yeah i really love that song, the melodies are perfect !

  • This song reminds me of Vandal Hearts. Not the 2nd or 3rd, the first one. The best one :)

  • And what's the fuckin' matter with Peter fucking Jackson, why didn't he called Summoning to do the soundtrack for Lord of the rings???!!!

  • No idea. probably would've only wanted the instrumentals, not the shrieking =\

  • don't these guys have some stuff in orcish or the language of Mordor or whatever?

  • @defyexistance

Yes, they did. On their last Album.

  • Yup, they have. "Mirdautas Vras" is the only song in the black speech of Mordor.

    God, I sound like a nerd. :3

    Anyway, awesome song!

  • Check out the Oath Bound album. ;)

  • This band is really good!

  • 7:06 to 7:26 doesn't sound like English, does it?

One of the best songs of one of the best bands I've ever listened to. I can feel somethings in my ears, in my head and in my eyes, when I'm listening to The Passing of the Grey Company.

  • this song remaiden me when i live in charlotte nc i dont forgette that

  • I think he does actually.. Now that I've listened to it countless times I can kind of descry a few different lyrics. But if you look at the actual prophecy itself and then listen to him as he sings it word by word, there aren't nearly the same amount of lyrics. He's saying something else in there as well.

  • yeah but he is also speeking in a diffrent langauge so you have to include that.

summoning is awesome to the max!

  • I think this song is fantastic, I just wish I could understand the language lol.

    Speaking only one language blows.

  • He sings in English, doesn't he?

  • The lyrics are online at Darklyrics, and it is all in English my friend. :)

Learning a language is kind of easy, and no different than learning how to play music. It just requires a lot of time and effort. Find a English-(Foreign Language) dictionary somewhere and take five minutes each day to learn a word. Lycka till! (Good luck ;)

  • loveeeeeee itttttttttt

hear the song land of the dead of this band

    awesome song toooo

  • Epic song.

  • Ich spreche nicht Österreichische. I don't speak german either. Well, that is. All I can say is that Summoning is one of the best bands in the world, this is from their 1995 album, and it's been a two man band since that time, with Protector and Silenus. They've done great albums, even after the movies came, when they (and I) thought it would be pointless to create the own Middle-earth in music...

  • fucking epic.

  • Monumental song! Alternative an audio accompaniment to the Lord of the Rings trilogy........

  • Meant to give this a 5 star rating, but I clicked on 2 stars by accident, sorry! Classic song

  • lol

  • i love this music *_*

  • 5*****..BRILLIANT BAND!!!!!

  • malade esti de bon band cheers !

  • French is beautifull, allthough very hard and different from my own (norwegian) :)!

  • Amazing music from an amazing band

  • Comment removed

  • Mit Sicherheit ist ihm das bewusst. Das Lied ist ja schließlich von Summoning.

  • elakiel dont feel sorry for your language i am european too!

  • Haha... k... But your grammar isnt bad... My grammar is bad, but I try anyway...

You dont have to say you like the English language... I dont like it at all....

  • Ok. Okay! Well i like the English language xD But i prefer using my mother-tongue language: The French! And i think you won't say bad things on frenchies 'cause you seem to be a good guy. Am i wrong?

  • ... hehe... Your not wrong xP.... I dont got anything against the French... If something, I would have to say the style (clothes and haircuts....)....

Anyway, grate song, thnx for the upload!

  • hahaha!! im american born, and even ill admit english is a dumb fuckin language

  • all languages are beautiful in someway (cept for the clickers). Most people will always have a fascination with a language besides their own.

so naturally i love Gaeilge, German, and the such.

  • @TulkorHAOMARUSH

I love German, Japanese, my first language is Català and I love it =)

    btw, fantastic song!

  • Epic!

  • piękna że tak powiem...

  • Laissez-vous tenter, commentez!

  • Driitlei av å se komentarer på et språk jeg ikke kan ha mulighet til å forstå... dittirriterende ikke sant!?....

  • Alors, alors. Sorry! I don't speak Svenska(Norsk? ) . I can speak english if you want.

  • Yeah... start writing english on utube...
