WOW this guy sucks. The best defending tactic:

Make sure you have a right and left midfield as well as defenders. If a skilled dribbler passes the mid defense, the mid man has to make a full sprint to go behind the defender. That way, we have depth, which is a full line of defense. The defender has to make a challenge, and if he fails, i jockey him out of play or challenge him, my call. If i fail, the defending man is already making a sprint to go behind me, therefore we get a neverending def.

People in the USA should take soccer much more seriously. Some of my friends say that soccer is for sissies, but they are way wrong. Soccer is very much a contact sport, lots of pushing and kicking (most of the time not on purpose though). remember the idea is not so much to win the ball, but to deny the player access to the goal.

1.) always be goal side of the defender and stay at a resonable distance

2.) get down low (bend your knees)

3.) turn your body on an angle facing the sideline

4.) dont let him pass you,he will be forced to move to the side line, or turn around and pass it back to another player. once he turns, you can push on against him if you wish. remember, never dive in unless you are 100% sure.
