It's BASED on a true story. BASED ON, doesn't mean it's nowhere near accurate, most "true story" movies are like that, they add shit to make it more dramatic or what not. It was marketed as a true story to attract a wider audience, but it doesn't mean that what you see is accurate, it's still a movie, yes at it's core it's true but a lot was added. BTW this movie made me angry seeing her be tortured by all those little fucks and no one does anything.

I do agree, however, the murder should have been laid to rest long ago. No movie was needed.

Sure this film went a tad bit overboard. THERE WAS fucked up things going on and having a 15 year old girl raped by her cousin and boys in the neigborhood is fucked up enough. Go read the Sylvia Likens case...and go read how she was tortured and sexual abuse. Again this may have been TOO much but not far from what actually happened

Police investigations concluded that "On October 26, 1965, after multiple beatings, burnings, and scalding baths, she died of a brain hemorrhage, shock and malnutrition", "she was forced to consume feces and urine", "used a heated eye bolt to burn the number "3" into Sylvia's chest.", among other things. I do agree, however, the murder should have been laid to rest long ago. No movie was needed.

I just got done watching the movie.But the blame is on the innocent boy.He saw what was going on down there,every single day.He saw how the boys were abusive , how the lady treated the two girls.He did not do shit,he just went along in a nice way,then at the last minute he decided to take action.If all together he took action she would have been alive.Such a messed up story,I would have beat those kids down and torture them.
