  • Low volume audio but a heart-touching movie,I watched it for the first time when i was 6,7 years old!

  • so bad

  • I don't understand why the actors do not at least speak with south american accents

  • Bad acting? yeah right. I guess most of you people dont know the actors actually DID endure starvation to further sink into their characters....AND they actually endured the cold temperature in which they were shooting the film. Most of them got the flu from being always damp clothed and the retakes of some scenes in this film which sometimes took too long. This movie is a GREAT homage to this unfortunate event.

  • This reminds me of a Gary Larson Cartoon where the pilots are like " Say Mike...What's a moutain goat doing way up here in the clouds?" haha

  • “After 20 years, you analyze a lot. You remember people, heroism. “The Miracle of the Andes”, that’s what they called it. Many people come up to me and say that had they been there, they surely would have died. But it makes no sense, because until you’re in a… situation like that… you… you have no idea… how you’d behave. To be affronted by solitude without decadence or a… single material thing to prostitute it elevates you to a sprititual plane, where I felt the presence of God.

  • Greaaaat movie..one of my all time favorites

  • hey thanks so much forposting

  • oh shit this movies on yt!?

  • Most disturbing part of the crash, 8:08, when the suitcase hits Nando actor in the face for real as it exits the plane

  • Just finished watching it...

    10 out of 10

    thanks for the upload

  • The pilots have that face at the end that they know damn well in hell they will become human food.

  • wow... that is what i call BAD acting

  • @123Nikodemus The pilots?

  • Truly a hilarious scene.

  • @SamVlog i wish i had your sense of humor.

  • @Curiner With reference to your last year's comment on the Alive! actors not being representative of Uruguayan people, you can see two documentaries featuring the real guys (in the present century): 1. The 1972 Andes Survivors - documentary (iA2zYwp4XzY), and 2. Stranded! The Andes Plane Crash Survivors (Lh4paCxxwDQ)

  • I had a hard time eating ribs and white meat after watching this movie lol

  • Brilliant true story, and this is a great film which could never do it justice really. If you want a more realistic and grittier picture of what happened, read the book 'Alive' by Piers Paul Read.

  • Fake movie

  • @xXURrejectedXx it was a true story though

  • @xXURrejectedXx what do u mean fake movie? :/ the story was true... although the acting was crappy at times

  • nyari film nya dimana ya ???

  • Best movie

  • I remember watching certain parts of this when i was younger I never finished it so here I am now!

By the way thanks for the uploads!!

  • @fjfjfq Uuh, we don't have midnight sun or Aurora Australis in continental Chile. We do have them in the Antarctic claim, though.

  • @DerAnstifter Did you read what i said? I'd been there in Torres del Payne (Chile), I have pictures of the Southern Lights in the faraway horizon right there.

  • @Curiner I'm sorry to remark how ignorant you are. Chile, Argentina and Uruguay are majorly European countries. As a matter of fact, Uruguay is almost 100% European, even more than the nameless country between Canada and Mexico, dumbass!

  • The scariest thing about this is that they were lucky. Normally the chances of surviving a crash are minimal, look at the statistics. And please people, stop whining about the canibalistic part, it's just flesh, our ancestors did practice cannibalism alot, and in extreme cases it goes on even today, what a bunch of whimps commenting here....

  • First time I saw this movie was maybe 14 year ago when I was 10. It was a spine-chilling experience.

  • the effects arent very convincing but its such a good moviee!!

  • i cant hear

  • true story but there were 39 dead not 29.... :(

  • @rudnymullenlover no im pretty sure it was 29 because there were 45 on the plane and 16 survived.... lol we watched this in religion class, including all the extra stuff and interviews... i know my stuff XD

  • it was a real case.

  • They are drinking "mate" not tea :s

  • the plane that was used in those days was a Fokker 27 passenger conversion plane. the seats could be slid out for cargo only flights. in north America these type of planes were banned from use because of sliding seats could cause these types of fatality's as seen in the crash of this movie.

  • who cares if uruguay people are white.italian, and european wanna be.....this is about the movie........not race...so please save your racial stupid comments.....I was in uruagua 3 times i saw white spanish people....darl skin people as well....u dont have black people thats right but ARGENTINA AND CHILE DONT HAVE BLACK PEOPLE NEITHER!!!!...and if they had ...so what?

  • I looked up "Weird aircraft incidents" and came across the incident that this movie was based on. Wow/haha

  • It's strange how the players were actually from chile

  • I hope people don't take this movie as an excuse not to visit Uruguay, which is sunny and generally laid back. A nice place.

  • I love how everyone tells plane horror stories. So here's mine. Straight over the atlantic. We hit a storm and the turbulance was out of this world. We hit an air pocket about 2 hours before landing.. dropped a few hundred feet or so it seemed. Everything went BANG. The christians were cussing and the atheists were praying.. When we landed in Edinburgh, the landing gear malfunctioned and we bounced down the runway and somehow skidded to a dirty stop. Everyone cheered.

  • @groovylocks even the pilot was scared during the storm. He kept saying everything was ok for awhile. But then eventually he stopped saying that and just told us to hang in there, stay in our seats and try to relax. It was a red eye flight and i could see the ocean (I think) below us. And kept thinking about how, if we DID crash it would be a giant, epic bellyflop. Sucked ass.

  • @groovylocks ANY landing you can walk away from...

  • Respond to this video... To make this movie these days the cause would shift from human error to computer error.

  • lmfao I like it how they don't have a reaction when the airplane has crashed and broken while the rest are flying out but when they crash on the snow they begin to scream

  • Just watched the true story told by the survivors and it was chilling. Brave people who did what they had to do to remain alive.

  • id shit my pants

  • I don't get why people think this movie is full of bad acting. It's quite amazing, actually. I love this movie and the story.

  • stupid pilot.

  • "a south american rugby team" they should put "Uruguayan rugby team", instead

  • @insastifecho tenes razon pero para los yanquis somos todos "sudamerica" :P

  • @insastifecho Most of people are stupid and don't know what Uruguay is , that's why ....

  • @insastifecho when they said that, they wanted people to truly understand what happened for people who never read the book. I read it.

  • @insastifecho A lot of north americans dont know where Uruguay is. Gosh, whenever they see someone who speaks spanish they assume your are from Mehico. "Hi, where are you from? Mexico?" (sometimes even when the person clearly speaking portuguese)

  • Watched this in English sophmore year because Nobody wanted to read the book so my teacher gave up and was like Ok where just gonna watch the film Loll

  • @Ashleycookie88 Lucky!

I'm reading it right now.. =/

  • This is my favourite movie of all time. I just can't find this movie anywhere to rent or buy.

  • we watched clips of this in my psych class.

  • The passengers are dead silent during the whole disaster. Nobody is that quiet when you're in a crashing plane. Should be loads of screaming.

  • @dockecj uh why would you scream? you would sit and think because screaming is retarded

  • @EldestSauce: Say what you will, but you know I'm right. No way that plane was that silent.

  • @dockecj For folks who have spent their entire lives near sea level to experience a complete loss of compression at 11,000 feet with the terrifying threat of death it's actually a shock that there was even a peep of noise from anyone's throat.

I had never been above 1,000 feet elevation in my life. When I made my first skydive at 13,000 feet I had to scream to be heard in a talk for lack of oxygen - and I was enjoying myself!

The producers did a hell of a job here, trust me.

  • @WellConditioned 7:04-7:46: At high altitudes, turboprop airplanes aren't able to climb the way they can at sea level. Airplanes have an "absolute ceiling" which is basically the altitude at which it will climb no more. So the events dramatized in this scene are realistic. Despite both engines being at full power here, the airplane seems almost unresponsive and the pilots are shown to be struggling in their desperate and unsuccessful bid to gain altitude and climb clear of the mountain peak.

  • IT DOES NOT MATTER if they speak english!!! All that matters is that you're trying to tell a story as good as you ever can just to TOUCH people!! I know because I have LEARNT IN SCHOOL how to make drama!! I mean, Marie Antoinette (from Sofia Coppola) was a huge success although all of the real people of Versailles were speaking french in their real lives and in the movie everyone were speaking english. But what does it really matter??

  • @sasmg excelente!! exactamente!!

  • @Curiner uruguayan people are white, in Uruguay and Argentina doesnt exist black people sorry for my english

  • @nombredeusuarionombr uruguayan people are white?......ive been in URUGUAY and u have white and dark skin people...what are u talking about?......be proud of being latino...because thats what u r!!!!

  • @nombredeusuarionombr What are you talking about? Are you blind or what? I know a lot of negros from Argentina and Uruguay. All America is full of negros.

  • tea instead of mate ?? pathetic film really pathetic

  • @nosorab3 ??? you are pathetic, try to write in spanish and we ll see if you are perfect

  • Its the most ridiculous film ever, how people from Uruguay are speaking in english ?? thats totally ridiculous jaajajaj you people from usa must know this is a TRUE story and the survivors are heros here in Uruguay Argentina and Chile and they are still alive, so I know what I am talking about, is pathetic to make a film with "people from Uruguay" crossing Los Andes and speaking in english

  • That sucks that they were just a few miles from help, yet they went the long way 90 some miles through that is just unreal. With no food or shelter. Just goes to show that when people have to, we can survive against all odds against us. Amazing! Most people can't walk 90 miles on flat ground with food and shelter. Because of this movie I can honestly say I have never really had a bad day.

  • You are all crazy !Remember guys this is suppose to be a true story! I thought it was quite good!

  • I waitressed the summer before I started college....on my last night, a few friends and I thought we would have some fun. We got on the intercom and made the announcement "Donner, party of 12," few mins later....."Correction, Donner, Party of 10..." this movie reminded me of that. LOL!!

  • @u725674 If you genuinely believe that you are one pathetic wanker. Grow up.

  • @u725674 Get your facts str8. This where bad political days in Uruguay back in the 70's, with kids mostly 19 year old flying on a charter plane. What would you like them to fly? KLM or Lufthanza 1st class? They didnt simply had the money. And they went on a charter plane before. This crash was due to an error from the Pilot, period!

People like you wouldn't survive 5 minutes up in those mountains. You would never be like them.... true HEROES! Just watch "Stranded" next time

  • My Go-d poor people!

This is a fact of survive .Thank for posting in you-tube.

  • Ok, to stop all the subjective racism comments, let's stick to the facts:

    1. The members of the "Old Christians" rugby team came from the elite families of Montevideo

    2. Most of the elite families of Montevideo, as the elite families from all over Latin America, are of RECENT European ancestry

    3. Examples: Nando's mother was from Ukraine. Daniel, Fito and Eduardo are from the Strauch family, from Germany. Roy Harley's family came fron Ireland. Canessa, Mangino n Zerbino r of italian ancestry

  • @heymissdeejay Yea thats true. When I first heard of this incident I was shocked to hear some of these names of the passengers from a South American nation. Roy Harley??? You got to be kidding me, you cant get more American than that name.

  • Comment removed

  • I think they needed more power just saying! Oh and its the thought that counts for this movie!

  • i would hate to be sitting in back of the plan.shit

  • What I don't understand is what was two Air Force pilots doing flying a group of civilian kids on a Air Force passenger plane to a rugby match? It doesnt make any sense. Is that how the military works in South America where military pilots act as airline pilots for civilians if the price is right?

  • @duncan7599 I don't know how it is now, but what the survivors say is that when they were planning the trip, they realized it would be cheaper if they rented a chartered Air Force Plane, rather than buying airline tickets. Since they were all in their late teens, and did not have any jobs, they opted for the cheaper - and later on, wrong - decision. The more people on the plane there were, the cheaper the cost would be, that's why Nando invited his mom and sister to come along

  • @heymissdeejay If thats the case than its worse than I thought that South American nations are renting out their militarys for private contracting to the lowest bidder. In the U.S. it is illegal for military planes to be used for private reasons or flying civilians unless the civilians lives are at risk. I mean you or I cant just call the U.S. Air Force and say hey can we rent some of your military transport planes and pilots, we will give you a dirt cheap price if you do.

  • propeller planes are so full of shit...

  • the film misleads you into thinking that the male air steward is going to be a central charachter and part of the film, the plane hits the mountain and he is sucked out of the back of the plane, showing how horrific the situation is. this plane crash is incredibly scary. i remember seeing this in the 90's for the first time it terrified me. very realistic.

  • The plane crash is epic, brings chills to my body!

  • unas de las peliculas mas memorables basada el guion y el argumento en la vida real

  • At 8:07 you see a piece of luggage smack Ethan Hawke square in the face (Lol) but if you listen carefully right after that, you can hear a guy say, "Suck on this" Lol, I'm not lying.

  • @Xoxinwulf lol!!

  • ta historia wydarzyla sie naprawde urzeklo mnie to w jaki sposub dawali sobie rade wstrzasajacy film malo osub przezylo tragiczny obraz tego wszystkiego co sie tam stalo

  • You what else makes this situation really screwed up? It took place on FRIDAY 13TH OCTOBER!!!!!!!!! That's fucked up.

  • yea eat ur fellow man : )

  • dont know why but i just luv the sound of the plane :)

  • it's hilarious how they show everything before the crash as being lollipops, rainbows, and pixie farts like they were all just invincible, happy-go-lucky free spirits without a care in the world but laughter and rugby and taking pictures... woo hoo! crock of shit...

  • 8:49 fasten your seat belt

  • I bet they used beef jerky for the meat anyway im pretty sure I would rather die in the crash than be frozen, but then again,i would get eaten but if i was alive i would be a cannibal hmm oh i know im never gonna go on a plane over the andes with a imbesal driver

  • @callofdutywordatwar it was turkey jerky, according to imdb.com

  • Most under-rated movie ever made !!!

  • My ex-boyfriend decided to show me this film to help me conquer my fear of flying...that's why he's my ex-boyfriend...

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 My mom showed me this film to help me conquer my fear of flying and now its the reason why i will never fly ever again :/

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 I bet you said that because you saw it on the Simpsons as Homers method lol

  • @craazyman85 No, it's what he actually did.

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 that ain't bad. i watched wolf creek and a cry in the dark before i went to australia

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 i guess then just live in fear then

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 shut up bitch

  • @defmanz fytp

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 in his defense i think that he may have showed this 2 tell u that in a great effort anything can happen he cudda also bn a dick but who am i to judge =-)

  • @ADEMruinedmylife909 sweet, now that's entertainment!

  • whos john malovicks supposed 2 be on this?

  • @TheHandler89 I think it's supposed to be Roberto Canessa, I have not seen the whole movie yet

  • @unico5616 hes Carlito .. i found out

  • Was I the only person who got a hankering for some meat while watching this movie?

  • at the start of the movie, is it carlitos speaking??? or is it canessa?? i really need to know :S i hav exams on it tomorow!! :/

  • They didn't speak english.

  • WE NEED MOAR POWAH!

  • Ill tell you, once I was landing in a trip from the US and the weather was terrilble, we were almost touching the runway when the wind suddlenly twisted the plane like a piece of paper (this was a massive airbus), never seen anything like it before. The pilot then turned the engines to a maximum to abort landing, we hang on in there for what seemed ages, I thought I was gona die and started praying like this guy. worst feeling I ever had in my life.

  • Such a big production just to show a tea (it's a MATE) and it doesn't drink like that. YANKEES BRUTOS (ASSHOLES)

    Eugenia and Magdalena, from Argentina

    AGUANTE EL MATEEEE LOCOOOOO

  • Human = Beefy

  • FUCKING GRNGOS THIS IS A LATINO STORY U FAGGOTS HAAHAHAHAHHA

  • @Flaitesexy That's interesting, since many of the kids who died in real life were white.

  • @mustwinder of course there white , LATINOS ARE WHITE U DUMBSHIT, WTF U THINK WE ARE? MEXICANS?? U FUCKING RETARD HAHAHHAHHA U AMERICANS ARE SO NIGGERS AHAHAHAA!

  • @Flaitesexy You need some help, a doctor, medication, something.

  • @Flaitesexy Hahaha too funny. I'm not sure if I'm laughing with you or at you but I'm laughing nonetheless.

  • @AvsJoe hmm lol

  • @Flaitesexy they're... they are white

  • @siobanethier

its a movie and it was made in 90 and i dont think they are white white if anything they look like spainards

  • @royalflipskater I'm simply trying to correct Flaitesexy's spelling mistake. Why are homophones so hard to distinguish? Their: their dog was barking all night, there: there are too many cooks in the kitchen, they're: they're is a contraction of they are... it's so annoying how so many people mix them up.

  • @siobanethier Some people just do not care. Others were never taught; it is a shame on public schooling in any city, state, or country.

  • @royalflipskater I'm glad you agree. It often makes me wonder what people were doing while their teachers were explaining the differences-if they explained them at all. I know someone whose writing is full of such mistakes & it's such a pet peeve of mine. I wish her husband would look over her blogs & correct her so that she wouldn't look so ignorant! I wish it wasn't taboo to correct your friends' grammar! I did once & another friend flipped out on me. I was like 'Geez I'm trying to help you!'

  • @mustwinder Latinos, aren't all mestizos or black, there are some countries in south america like Argentina, chile, brazil or uruguay inhabited by white people, many of them are descendants of Spain and Italy

  • @marbacig I know.

  • @Flaitesexy then suck my fat gringo dick you sorry spic piece of shit

  • And no CGI. Case closed.

  • this is soo sad man. What struck me as odd was how none of them were really screaming

  • I saw this moive in high school back in the mid 1990s, and the whole class was laughing when half the people on the plane got sucked out of the fuselage! Our teacher became very upset and stopped the movie until we all claimed down!

  • Oh my god.

  • @sasmg Turks are camel fuckers. Mohammad sucks camel dicks, just like the homo Turks. Scheiß Türken!!

  • 0:57 to the far left, is that not Nando him self?... and the guy in the beginning playing Carlitos, thats John Malkovich

  • @Iamfukenripped the coach in the team photo is Nando Perrado.

  • lionel messi at 2:59....xaxaxa

  • i read the story and sorry for my ignorance there is this movie... i remeber how my stomach churned reading the gruesome parts of it and felt relief when all their ordeal came to an end... this story just showed how determination and perserverance can overcome any obstacles in life, even in those times that we felt is almost over...

  • whos the guy that said the hail mary prayer?

  • @GieraryHirr Carlitos

  • 7:50 - 8:07

Always makes me sad.... I was watching this during English... and when they showed that part my class laughed and replayed it, and I thought.... wow.... THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE DESERVED THIS..... ;(

  • its a good story i read the book and saw the movie its all very interesting, and the fact they survived this horrible travisty is reason enough not to disrespect the people who were on that plane

  • Awesome quality and thanks for this~ WOW.. All I can think to say. :\

  • i was so afraid of flying after i saw this but i got over it..

  • This is an unbelieveable inspiring story.

  • His trousers are on fire!

  • Very interesting indeed

  • thanks! they don't show this movie anywhere on tv anymore

  • If it's bad weather, they could of flew around it. They just went right into it. Crazy. No power. Yeah, because the weather is stronger then the plan. U can't control that. DAM. The other people should of sat up front. Dam.

  • snack time

  • i know nothing about planes so asking this could make me sound stupid but.. when your the pilot and a bright red light is blinking pull up how hard is it to pull up??

  • @snrub92 I know very little as well but you can't pull up too quick (I believe). If you do, you may stall the engine. Plus, the g-force (gravitational force) would be extreme. You'd have to climb more gradually as opposed to a precipitous jolt... Only my opinion from the little I know.

  • That is one hell of a Toboggan ride.

  • Got into a heated argument with a guy from Uruguay. It turned ugly and without thinking I just blurted out "go munch on someone's leg."

  • OH MY GOD!! Massimo1gk do you have any idea how much I have prayed to God to see this on TV?! I TOTALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I saw this like 10 years ago and this never left me alone... I can't stop thinking about this. The one who put this film here made my dream come true. I'll pray for you that you will have EVERYTHING YOU'VE EVER WANTED.

  • @IdelinZu me too. I was twelve when i watched this movie. Now i am 27 and can watch it again. thanks a lot Massimo1gk cos u make my day.
