i honestly think this is the best death drop i've ever seen. he is a GOD. no one else will ever compare. he had absolutely everything, artistry and athleticism combined into one amazing skater.
Hi, Hannahrose - - his previous program was the cutesy clown one; this one showed more maturity, long lines, enthusiasm. I wasn't as enthused by "Tosca" and "Broken Arrow" because the music was slow, didn't arouse crowd enthusiasm. I didn't like the music to "Overcome" either; however, I love his footwork during that exhibition program - - his choreography in "Racing" is also clever. I watch recent videos of him and think he made the right decision. I'd rather people remember him at his best!
Absolutely - - his choreography was unmatched once he had Tatiana start coaching him. While Plushenko seems to build up speed for a jump, Alexei continues making his program interesting by clever footwork and arm movements as he gains speed. I don't think next year's Olympians have reached his level yet - - many don't do one quad; Alexei and his opponents were doing TWO. He and Tatiana interpret music better than any other skater or choreographer.
i agree, i am xX0oHannahrose btw haha, new programme, something seemed to happen to the other one, its just such a shame he had to stop skating so early due to his hip :(:( he remains the best skater ever in my mind though :) xx
I really love everything about this program !! It's probably one of my favorite... so much elegance and kindness in all his movements and expressions... and such a pretty face (^.^) !!
it's yagudin and the other skaters ..as terrible as it sounds ...there was never such a great skater in the world ...he really loves to compete, skate , dance and feel the music ..it gives me shivers everytime I watch him
Looking back, I can't believe how young (barely 20) he was by the time he already won 3 world titles. He won his fourth and final world title at age 22, which is when most guys just start winning. Both he and Evgeny Plushenko started when they were really young.
I love this music, does anyone know the name of the song he's skating to? I know it's from Nutcracker, but I would like to know the name of the song :)
Admittedly I haven't really watched figure skating in recent years but come one, could anybody ever really beat this performance?! Except maybe Alexei himself did with 'Winter' in Salt Lake City... :)
He got cuter, and cuter with every year. I remember I thought he looked rather like a cute, chubby cheeked chipmunk back in 1997-1998. By the 2002 Olympics-Handsome Hotness. ;)
what an amazing amazing amazing performance!!!

Was a double axel a compulsory element in men's short programme? It's just strange to see that he had to do that double axel.

It's "Nutrocker" by Robert Wells. It was also played live at Gothenborg 2008 Gala.
