  • Pretty much the best you can get for good money.

  • mmm, now thats the perfect snare drum right there

  • what ride is that?.(LOVE THE SNARE BY THE WAY!!!!)

  • what drum heads are you using in the batter side?

  • Wow! It sounds awesome! How would it cost?

  • oh my god, this guy plays the exact same way in EVERY SINGLE FUCKING VIDEO, its so annoying now.

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls thats to give you a valid comparison between the different drums / cymbals he plays. stop being an idiot.

  • @chrisr696 When I look back now, the comment was fairly dumb. But they also tune the drum to sound the same like every other, that is just pointless.

  • what is the difference between brass snares and snares?

  • are the hoops diecast?

  • Do you have the Reference Series Cast Stell snare? Could you please upload a sample of it?

  • @frantico87 eheheh sorry i mean steel

  • or i can pay 125$ for a tama metalworks which sounds better.

  • Holy shit that snare sounds good.

  • they all may sound the same but they all sound awesome

  • @memphisdrumshop >whats the tuning tone?

  • You should really show different tunings of your snares, based on this i wouldnt buy one, but being able to play one at a local shop, i bloody LOVED it.

  • Can you guys do a video showing taye studio maple snare?

  • thats a pretty hot piece of brass

  • How would this snare respond in high tunings with a...let's say a Remo Coated Emperor on the top and a diplomat on the resonant side?

  • hey jw ...do you have the master duel celio ... it is the marching kind of snare ..but without the sr1000 strainer

  • I love that ring metal snare drums give!

  • Nice Snare! Nice rendition of Gadd's 'Crazy Army' too; turning those left-handed seven strokes into fives. I do the same thing too! It sounds so much cleaner.

  • Im looking for a pearl snare that I can use to practice orchestral things (like delecluse and such) but one that I could also use for drum set...Any suggestions? (I have a pearl steel shell and its not great for orchestral. Im willing to spend up to about $400)

  • i'd go with wood.

  • Apparently the Ludwig Super-sensitive snares were designed for the big band and swing drummers who needed orchestral like sensitivity with drum set use-ability, so I'd give them a look in, though they aren't cheap.

  • i own a Magstar solid bell brass made by Rob Kampa and it's extremely, extremely LOUD! The loudest snare i've ever heard. The rim shot would tear your head off! Rare snare to find. Ever since i never play anything else except for bell brass.

  • Gr8 sounding snare. If I'm not mistaken the drum head is a Remo.Remos sound better than the original factory drum heads, just my opinion though.Nice vid !

  • @dubbsway4life reference snares come with a remo ambassador on batter, and remo snare side ambassador on resonate.

  • I see you carry the Reference Cast Steel snare in stock. Could you post a performance of it?

  • its similar to pearl sensitone brass?

  • @peart888

yah but its double the thickness....3mm as opposed to 1.5mm sensitione snare (and probably a better snare throw off)

  • all the snares that you guys show sound the same. is it because of the drum head and the tuning or something or something

  • @drummer4life54 i used to use a stock ludwig accent custom snare 14 x 6.5 with a remo emperor x. i then got a ludwig acrolite 14 x 5 which had an evans ec coated head. they sounded completey different. recently, i changed the head to a emperor x. sounds exactly like the stock snare. so yeah, its the head, and the tuning

  • @drummer4life54 They do not sound the same at all. The tuning is similar, but gives a more accurate representation of the affect of depth/ material/ maker / price range. Its very good and if you have an ear for it, brass snares sound different to maple and steel and birch ect

  • @drummer4life54 i think they have the exact same set-up on every snare so that you can hear the difference of the actual snare; not the difference of having different heads or tuning.

that being said, maybe you'll hear the difference if you use headphones?

  • do you guys have the Pearl B1330 Brass Piccolo Snare? its a 13 x 3, and i'd love to hear it if you sell it/ have the time.

  • Unfortunately we do not have the Brass Piccolo in stock at this time.

  • 3mm !!!! wow, this is thick omg.

  • beautiful

  • Your original snare, the one you often use, or always is some kind of Yamaha 14x4.5" if brass, whats the name and serie of that Original snare? :)

    Because i love that snare.

  • Yamaha 14x5.5 Brass Snare Drum with die cast hoops. Not sure of the series, but it was when they had the seamless shell.

  • Could you do, if you dont have any yet, a video of that Yamaha snare?

I really like the original snare you have, so what is mostly similar to that sound, as the Yamaha gives? :) Do you have any snare that sounds very much like just that one perhaps? Is it coming for sale anytime? :)

Thanks for answering, im glad that you took the time :) Hope you can answer even this? ^^

  • Unfortunately the snare we use in the videos is not for sale, but we do have the newer Yamaha Brass Snare Drums for sale on our website. I will forward your request for a video on to our media department.

  • Oh, as i thought :/

Well the newer Yamaha Brass Snares, sounds they much as your video used snare? :) I will check out your site :)

Thanks for taking your time! :)

  • Yes, they will sound similar.

  • Thanks! :)

I found the one i think is the right on your site, is it this one?

    Yamaha 14 x 5.5 Brass Nouveau Snare.

Once more, thankyou for taking your time!

  • That's it.

  • @memphisdrumshop hey where did u that snare? im looking for one to buy and i want that one.

  • @memphisdrumshop hey where did u get that snare? im looking for one to buy and i love pearls snares. Where did u get that one?

  • What kit is that?

  • Yamaha Maple Custom

  • Any videos of reviews of the steel or wood version of the Reference Snares?

  • All requests are taken into consideration. I will forward this request to the media department.

  • which hi hats are those?? love them!

  • i think zildjian new beat hats

  • Zildjian 14" New Beat Hi Hat Cymbals.

  • nice snare. if it is tuned down a tad will it give a nicee, slightly messier/grungier tone that is still pleasing to listen to haha

    also what ride is that??

  • Zildjian 22" K Light Ride Cymbal

  • @memphisdrumshop wow i just purchased the same ride a few weeks ago, and while i know every cymbal is unique, mine has much more exaggerated characteristics that the K Light boasts. the one in the video is a lot brighter and higher in tone, but it does have a nicer wash to it than mine.

  • No two cymbals, even the same make and model, have the same sound. That is the reason we started the MyCymbal website. Customers can hear the exact cymbal they can purchase.

  • very controled sound and focused, probably because of rim?

  • It's exactly what i want.

  • i prefer thw wooden it doesnt have the little ring that brass snares do

  • thats a nice snare

  • What is your skin on yours. i have the same snare

  • Remo Coated Ambassador

  • If they really want to help people who can't try this snare in person mic the actually snare dry(with no mixing). This way it produces a higher quality sound but still stays true to the drum's original sound.

  • is this better than the one made out of wood

  • There was a guy on the pearl drummers forum who had this snare for a while and got rid of it for the reference cast steel. He said the brass sounded closer to the reference wood snares he owned.

  • that sounds great better than any other snare ive heard

  • how much is it cost ( if i have a mistake in my english sorry....)

  • how much *does* it cost

english is a crazy language =P

  • @pshyaahh don't worry, it's not harder than french :)

  • preferance my friend, acording to me this is the best

  • I had that but traded it for a COB. It was good but sooo heavy, my back hurt to carry it around.

  • lol still has tag on

  • i love brass snare drums

  • that is the most advanced brass snare on the market!

  • They play the same thing so you can have a baseline for how each drum sounds. That's my take on it at least.

  • Ludwig Black Beauty #1 for all around everything but this Pearl Reference Series sounds amazing too. It would be GREAT for Agressive Rock and Metal. Sounds GREAT guys! I have two of the old Peal Masters Brass but they're not this nice sounding.

  • I use it for funk, soul, hip hop and RnB, and it sounds AMAZING!!! very close to old ludwig snares (:

  • i want this snare sooo bad, i have the reference kit, but with the 20-ply maple/birch snare

  • im saving up for this bad boy lol

what do you think is better, this, or the 14x6.5 brass free floater?

  • When comparing Brass vs Brass, I prefer this drum.

  • Can you make a top 3 of your favourite brass snare drums you have in stock or you are able to stock, please? In these dimentions, or maybe a piccolo one. Whatever you like..

  • in no particular order:

    Ludwig 14 x 6.5 Black Beauty

    Pearl 14 x 6.5 Reference Brass

    Yamaha 14 x 7 Brass Nouveau

  • Oh thanks!

  • if i was to buy only one snare but with a budget not more than $700 ,what would you suggest i get? i need a snare that will do it all, latin, jazz, rock, pop, hiphop etc.a reply from you would mean so much thanks. im sure others would love to know as well.

  • Ludwig Black Beauty 5 x 14.

  • ludwig 100th anniversary black beauty ;)

  • A W E S O M E !!! Congrats.

  • That snare is one of the best snare drums I've ever heard.

  • I have this snare, and it's the best snare I've ever heard! (:

  • What ride cymbal is being used here? sounds great

  • cool sound, please talk me about the tune, bottom higher tan top drumhead? (sorry about my english!)

  • correct

  • this sounds awesome! even better than the ludwigs and yes, craviatto (at least compared to the other videos that are posted my memphis drum shop) in my opinion

  • what heads are you using on the snare drum??

  • Remo Ambassadors

  • sounds great!!
