This hit would be scrutinized like crazy right now, but it doesn't look like you can really do anything about it. It doesn't even look like there was a whole lot of contact to the head, I'm surprised Lindros was so hurt by that. Unless this was late in his career when he was already banged up.

It was a very clean hit but some media villified Kaparaitis for it, even calling him the "dirtiest player in the game" for this one... at least these commentators knew it was a clean hit. This is a prime example why Don Cherry always says 'keep your head up' and 'don't cut along the blueline with your head down'

Of all the dirty shit Kasparaitis did, this was not a dirty hit; it was targeted at the chest and contact with the head was incidental (unlike the Stevens hit on Lindros). However, watching Lindros try to get to the bench is pretty sickening, and then seeing Kasparaitis laughing and being congratulated by his teammates is pretty sickening too.

At the time this was monumental for me as a Pens fan. Lindros is the only player besides Ovechkin that actually scared me every time he touched the puck. Plus he had it all skill-wise and was HUGE. Kasparaitis actually knocking him over was like seeing someone punch out Superman.

This was a legendary game. With the Flyers having frustrated the Penguins in the 96-97 season and playoffs, a dramatic win in Pittsburgh was needed. For the first period of this game, it seemed as if the Penguins were giving too much respect to the Flyers. Things changed in the second period, when Francis hurled Lindros over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes and the Pens started playing physically. Even with 3 cups and the superstars of the Pens, this is still one of their greatest moments.

I remember this one. It was a very clean hit but some media villified Kaparaitis for it, even calling him the "dirtiest player in the game" for this one... at least these commentators knew it was a clean hit. It's too bad Lindros was concussed from this hit. Of all the dirty shit Kasparaitis did, this was not a dirty hit; it was targeted at the chest and contact with the head was incidental (unlike the Stevens hit on Lindros). However, watching Lindros try to get to the bench is pretty sickening, and then seeing Kasparaitis laughing and being congratulated by his teammates is pretty sickening too.

At the time this was monumental for me as a Pens fan. Lindros is the only player besides Ovechkin that actually scared me every time he touched the puck. Plus he had it all skill-wise and was HUGE. Kasparaitis actually knocking him over was like seeing someone punch out Superman.
