The show is a pretty down to earth drama about high school football.

Those other shows are styled dramas about doctors, lawyers, and cops (which are NOTHING like real life!).

They made 1 ref to Smash at A&M during the last show, they don't need to do anything more than that. They also don't need to skip over the DRAMA of Eric losing his job -- I don't want to see him back with the Panthers like nothing happened, I want the conflict of starting over!

Even Winnie Cooper didn't end up with Kevin Arnold on The Wonder Years. That was good television.

Topanga and Cory stayed together for 7 years on Boy Meets World. That was bad television.

You sir, don't know anything about television. I know a fan's perspective is they like to know "where they ended up" but it's often better to not spell everything out, because even the writes might say that Smash didn't go pro (he's too small), and Riggins didn't finish college (just look at season 1-3, he has a pattern of messing up things for himself)

why not focus on Eric's new role as coach of the east Dillon Tigers, bring in a few new characters, carry on the storyline of Joe McCoy beating his son

maybe five years is leaving a bit too large of a gap, and I was probably wrong about that.

My bad for getting angry, I just get pissed because the show is so criminally underwatched and there are so many worse shows on TV which dont come close.
