I think it really ruins it that the morons in the crowd started clapping. Have you ever been up on stage and had people do that? It's extremely annoying and distracting.
One of the amazing things about the bass is that you can pop (artificial) harmonics out of almost any string because of the sheer girth of them. Victor is amazing. Met him once... a truly spiritual man with a gift!
@kareemie the sound from the bass from alot of the stuff he played could not be repeated on the electric guitar easily or at all. Especially the slapping on the strings to give a rhythm. In other words YOU dont understand the game. Narrow minded twat.
@Pyrofries my mom said the exact same thing but i showed her some primus (american life, tommy the cat, jerry was a racecar driver, is it luck ect.) and she just shut up and appologized to me cuz i play the bass
Victor appears to have his bass tuned E-A-D-F# (vs. the standard E-A-D-G). He uses mostly 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order harmonics to play the melody on Amazing Grace (over the 5th fret or just behind the 4th fret).
In the jazz groove and end tag, he alters the bass line for an alternate chord feel. At the end, he slides the bass note down to the root (G) while he picks the A harmonic at the 5th fret - and "bends" the note up to a B with his tuner.
accuttly his bass is tuned to "tenor bass" tuning which is a fith higher, its not tuning really its just the strings, you put a A D G C string setting on your bass (same as the 6 string basses first 4 strings) so yea
This man ceases to amaze me, i have tried to learn the amazing grace bit, but i think i really need about 10 more years experience, ive been playing bass for a year and a half, only on rock school equivilent grade 6, i aim for grade 8 this year, but still no where as good as vic
pfffff I could do that
