i like how you talk about worry and you did a part in the nanny series where you worried about maggie making the wrong decision about her marrying an underwear model. at the time did you feel as though you were trying to convey a message to your daughter as she watched your show?
What had the most impact for me in your iBlog was that worry is debilitating. That is very true. I've recently been falling into bouts of worry regarding things over which I have NO control. I work daily to control what I can, which would be me and how I react.
Thanks for sharing. That is something my mom does a lot of is worry. She worries about her whole family. Her biggest worry is my dad. He has Chronic Lymphatic Lymphoma & Leukemia. This late spring early summer my dad was needing transfusion after tranfusion. There was a time that we were all worried about him. the day he came in and was a 5 on his hemaglobin. I have told her she has to quit worrying cause it is not good for her health. I have to say now my dad is doing well.
Thanks for your honesty. I am a worrier too and tho I don't have children I worry about lots of other things. Just watched all 3 of your I blogs and look forward to more. Been a fan of yours since Shane first looked thru the telescope into Kimberly Bradys apartment. Love your political comments too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Charles...as a single parent of teenage girls I totally relate to 'worrying'. It's a whole different can of worms than when they were young. I did finally surrender all that worry to God and he took it from me! He replaced all my fears and worries with peace knowing my kids are saved by grace and the sacrifice of Jesus so I wish u & your family peace, love and blessings always!
Thank you for your thoughts. Very helpful reminder to think of worry as concern, manage the risks, and be proactive. I have been worried about my job the last year, and this puts all in prospective. I have traveled throughout Mexico. I understand your concern as a parent. Your rules are wise, and your daughter should be cautious and use good judgement. By managing risks, I did meet giving, caring, kind-hearted people on my journey, so I had a positive experience. Hopefully, she will too!
Hi Charles...first of all thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights..You are a highly intelligent person and your rationalization does come down to common sense..."worry" is extremely burdensome to all who practice it..it is destructive..and if festered can become chronic depresson... however..concern is a constructive and positvie way of approaching matters that you really do not have control over, with planning you have some peace of mind...along with instilled trust in your child.
Your discussion of worry has brought light to a troubling matter my family has to confront every day. And when you said Mexico, I jumped a little- I live on the border, and every day there are reports of- well, everything you worried about. I'm only in middle school, (here 'cause of the Nanny) but worry has already shown its face, & I agree with the things you said here. :)
Totally agree with you. Kids to Mexico a huge concern. My kids are all out of the house, but south of the border will never happen.
Worry is division of the mind. It is easy to worry, but unproductive. It is more empowering a concern. But most of all,if you can't change it, then you must let it go
Mr. Shaughnessy I would like to say that your subject of worry hits me close to my heart. Concern is also something that seems to take over my life however worry is the biggest part. You have certainly cleared up my mind a little more.

When you fail to plan, you plan to fail...concern over worry is certainly a healthier, more stress free way to live.
