I grew up in Brookland during the 90s and went to St. Anthony's Catholic School. It does look completely different from where I grew up but I lived on Irving Street so we'll see if there will be a COMPLETE change. It seems as though all African-American and Hispanic families that once lived there moved...but I agree I hope it won't be unrecognizable after a while with all these changes
I grew up in Brookland back in the 70's and 80's..it was much diffrent then..the cost of homes were lower and we had a large middle class african amercian comm. How it changed now homes are well over $300,000 most of the good people that lived there are gone and even one the first open space elem school in nation has changed (i went there when it first opened in 1973-1974)please bring back the folks who knew each other and the great familys that once lived in Brookland....I love 12th St N.E.
I love Brookland and the Quality of the Video is nice. I just hope that the New Big Development like 901 Monroe street does not Ruin the Family and Community feeling of Brookland. I am against the 901 Monroe Street Project being any bigger than C2A size. They have violated the Small Area Plan and the Spirit of Brookland by trying to build something that is too Big for Brookland and not really listening to our ANC when they had a Chance to Change the Architecture to match the size of Brookland.
Yo them white girls was thick!

IT SEEMS LIKE THEY SHOWED EVERYWHERE AROUND ST. ANTHONY SCHOOL AND CHURCH, BUT NOT IT, IT IS VERY ICONIC IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, I ATTEND THERE

I can't say how much I love this neighborhood. It's truly a great place to be.
