I really see no reason to use the .223 in a machinegun. It would be more efective the 308 (7.62x51mm), and the kickback and weight wouldn't be a problem as it is in the assalt rifles.

@joaoglucena The reason why we don't use them is because in the modern urban enviorment our boys need to be mobile, 7.62 mm. NATO guns are too big and bulky, that's why we ditched the m60 and m14 even though we may be bringing them back, they don't serve the roles they used to, plus since the 7.62mm x 51 nato cartrige is a sniper cartrige their is too much of a risk for civilian casualties due to over penetration.
