motown was the best time period for music. People during "The Motown times" lol, had natural talent, not techno, auto-tuned beats or "melodies" as voices.

Roger Penzabene, who wrote the lyrics, had just found out his wife was cheating on him with another man. Unable to deal with the pain and unable to stop loving his wife, Penzabene expressed his pain in the lyrics of this song. Sadly, the distraught Penzabene committed suicide on New Year's Eve 1967, a week after the single's release. As great as this song is, this history gives it new meaning.

He couldn't take the hurt anymore and he committed suicide. Nonetheless both songs were hits and David tore those songs up!!

Look at Otis and Melvin they were the best of friends. True friendship like this is so very hard to find. I gotta say, I don't think I have a friend in the world that had as much compassion for each other as these two. Look at Otis, he is so proud of that group.
There will never, never, never, ever be another David Ruffin. He def had that "Mississippi Magnetism"! Most truly great people have problems with addiction and relationships, and I, for one, forgive him - I'm sure God will, too. What an awesome talent he was! It was in the movie. Remember the scene when Melvin was in the studio alone practicing and trying out his dance moves very slowly after his accident. Although, Ruffin sang the song, it was in the scene with Melvin. The song was perfect for the scene, IMO

@KevinSalmon Ruffin wanted the group called that but 'no-one is bigger than the group' lol, but there is no getting away from the fact that his voice made him the master of emotion, as someone else has written, he could change that voice to soft and husky, raspy to high - the stuff of legends. I love and loved all the Temps but this line up are the classic Temps.

How in the world can these FOOLS of today call what they do music or entertaining? Compared to this - well - there is no comparison. All the fools of today want to do is curse and boom-boom-boom and call it music. They need to listen to this about 24 hours a day for a month and see if they can tell the difference in entertainment and BS.
I wish Motown would come back. The rap music hip hop stuff of today pales in comparison. Listen to the man's actual heart and soul come through your speakers. If you cry when you know a song is perfect, you'll know what I'm talking about...just listen.

There will never, never, never, ever be another David Ruffin. He def had that "Mississippi Magnetism"! Most truly great people have problems with addiction and relationships, and I, for one, forgive him - I'm sure God will, too. What an awesome talent he was! If I had been the right age, I would have been all over him! Thanks, David, for all the years of meaningful music that is part of my very soul!

It was in the movie. Remember the scene when Melvin was in the studio alone practicing and trying out his dance moves very slowly after his accident. Although, Ruffin sang the song, it was in the scene with Melvin. The song was perfect for the scene, IMO

@KevinSalmon Ruffin wanted the group called that but 'no-one is bigger than the group' lol, but there is no getting away from the fact that his voice made him the master of emotion, as someone else has written, he could change that voice to soft and husky, raspy to high - the stuff of legends. I love and loved all the Temps but this line up are the classic Temps.

I wish Motown would come back. The rap music hip hop stuff of today pales in comparison. Listen to the man's actual heart and soul come through your speakers. If you cry when you know a song is perfect, you'll know what I'm talking about...just listen.
