do you guys not understand? The whole video is showing us where democracy has gotten the world, and everything he says is the opposite of that, but at the end he says "in the name of democracy unite!" this modern representation of his speech shows that all he said never came to be in democracy. While the whole time we were thinking that he was talking about something better than democracy.
@juggernautdeath1 It's you who doesn't understand. He's trying to rouse people to repel the "brutes" of society, to take back the nations they built. He is trying to get people to remember they live in a democracy and they DO have power. They have more power than every politician and wallstreet goon combined, but they become complacent and they wallow in despair. He's trying to get people to remember to fight for what's right.
No, he was playing adolf hitler and satirizing Hitlers use of great Orations to stir the people of Germany. I don't see how you find a speech meant to mimic Adolf Hitler as great.
It is ironic he says "I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white."
@gulleyblake Adolf Hitler was successful in uniting Germany under one ideology, even if his ideology was evil. Chaplain's ideas are positive, if a little far-fetched – he's following the successful portion of Hitler's reign.
I get goosebumps at the end by looking at Charlie Chaplin's face. Might be unintentional, but it's a worried face. Everyone loves this speech but how many people will change their ways to make this world a beautiful place? This speech makes sense to everyone who watches it but how many people just close this tab and move on to the next post on reddit, youtube, digg, 4chan, whatever. Never forget about this speech, together we can change this world and it starts with the individual. Get moving.
this world needs more men like Chaplin, I wish he was still here.

Terrible, but still great.

I definitely prefer Chaplin over the other well known skilled orator with a similar mustache.

The word "great" still applies.

@UnoDosMoltres
You do realize that this is a speech from the movie The Great Dictator meant to be a satirical criticism of Nazism and Adolf Hitler.
