  • Unfortunately, I visited this museum with a school trip, where we were given the task to explore this museum and the american history museum across the street in just 1 hour and 30 minutes.

  • @Dirtboy101 Well, that is not enough time to see much... Do you want to go back for another visit?

  • @FISHGAL69 Of course! It's on my bucket list to spend AT LEAST a few hours in each museum.

  • wow...I want see in my life this museum

  • @MatteoTornado Many fascinating things to see there.

  • My great Great Grandfather helped hunt the elephant in the Museum {:

  • Wow, imagine that. I bet he has or had some interesting tales to tell.

  • Love it! well done!

Maybe I'll mummify my dog Ziggy. LOL!!!

  • You are so kind. I think there are places that will do that with pets... for a big fee.

  • You said, "mounted" ;) You know I have to tease you at least a little.

I loved the whispering with the butterflies. It was a cool touch, but made me laugh too :)

Another wonderful video! I bet you are a fun travel partner :~)

  • Yes, I did say mounted. The largest mounted fish, a whale shark, has just recently been restored... Maybe I'll pay it a visit sometime in the near future.

The whispering yes, funny. Nearly every animal show has a naturalist whispering about an animal off in the distance. In reality the butterfly room was pretty noisy with excited children, and the butterflies didn't seem to mind, though some were trying to escape, maybe they didn't like the noise. :)

  • Is that your voice? wow! you sound like a professional narrator/commercial speaker

  • Yhank you! Yes, that's me doing the narration. I would love to have one good voice over job -- the voice talent gets royalties. Remember the where's the beef lady? I bet she did pretty good on that one.

  • U have an awesome style! I would love to take my daughter there! She would love to see all that good stuff!

  • UR very kind, thanks. Little Z would have a grand time, bring your comfy shoes.

  • This was SUCH a cool video!! I love museums and I can't believe I missed out on this one when in D.C., but I did get to see a whole lot more. I loved the butterflies, incredible. The quality was so incredibly brilliant. Oh yeah, I'll take that Hope diamond, please ;)

  • Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. That Hope diamond might be a little challenging to get our hands on. They had a marine life photo gallery to wet the appetite for the new ocean hall that just opened. All amazing stuff. the camera (miniDV) started to act up in the butterfly room because of the humidity I think but over all, it is a good little camcorder.

  • Every time someone has said they record with a miniDV, I have been astounded with the quality. Now that we have a little addition to our family, I may have to step up to the plate.

I bet if we planned the caper, we could get away with the diamond ;)

  • I use point and shoot also, depending on the circumstances, but the camcorder has more functionality such as a 35x optical zoom and the quality of the picture has more detail as you have observed. The new ones are HD which honestly, is too much definition, IMHO for most people even the one I have (not HD) has a "soft focus" mode for artfully shooting people. If you keep your eyes open you may find one on sale for well under $200 for a little while longer while the HDs flood the market.

  • A lot more people have HDTVs these days, but a lot don't, and have the cameras that shoot HD and they really don't get the full bonus of what they are buying unless they have one.

  • Nice video! I love a dinosaur and a mammoth. I want to do a trip to visit the Smithsonian Museum!

  • You would enjoy it they have many prehistoric skeletons and fossils there.

  • Yes, thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Mmm, that was fun!

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • Wow, was that you speaking? You made a great tour of the museum!
