  • And that's my name.

  • thats my car

  • No sir I PRAISE YOU! BRILLIANT WORK!

  • @FROTFULLDELIGHTS Cheers champ!.

  • @SlickHolden Really man the effort and work you put in and doing this video/slideshow I am very VERY impressed, not taking piss out of ya mate but I really like what you did maybe I can pull one of my old wrecks out to it's former glory.

  • @FROTFULLDELIGHTS The hardest part was the video lol. one of my videos showing an XM Falcon. the owner contacted me and was so happy to see intrest in his car. after talking, comparing our cars was like comparing chocolate and boil lollies lol. the time and effort he put into his car was phenomenal compared to mine.

    And thanks again.

  • I usually hate commodores. But I definetly respect the work you put into this one man, job well done. Came out clean as!

Enjoy driving her man, it always makes it better when you do all the work.

  • @gameratwork I really appreciate that, thank you.

Sure does. gives you that connection when you work on them :).

  • all in all.....what a shit car

  • @TOWNIES4PREMIERS Thank you for viewing. do come back soon.

  • @TOWNIES4PREMIERS well your just a dick

  • whys the suspension so low on the back of the car

  • @gddayman It's sitting on the rack and at the rear it was chained down. I thought hmmm that's a nice shot lol.

  • how many kms on the clock

  • how much did u pay 4 it

  • $3.300.

  • @gddayman oh yeah good deal how much was it 2 re build???

my mum owns a vt and its as smooh as silk apart from a grinding in the steering colum

  • @gddayman Parts and work to return it to what you see in the pictures, about $3500. Didn't pay a great deal on repairing the car, more checks and other things it needed to go through that drives the price up. Air-bags are one huge pain in the bum. Even if you get them replaced cheap enough, the checks and things you need to go through cost as much. But that's the VIV inspections, that's what they demand. I'm fine with that. it's their job to make sure the car has been repaired right.

  • @SlickHolden how many kms on the clock

  • @gddayman It had 147,000 at the time.

  • fuck good work man! just bought an acclaim myself. upgrading from the exectutive

  • @dashman14 Cheers for that mate. Sure the little extra electrics and safety features are well worth the upgrade.

  • very boring , why spend so much on a V6 commodore? its not the latest model , and theres nothing special about it

  • @malice1488 opinions vary.

why why why, why not ?. it's not like it's your money lol. btw i haven't stopped spending if you wanted to know, but like that old ad, it's your money Ralph remember that.

  • @SlickHolden its holden passion!!!!:D

  • @385921105 Too right. Now a days people have lost their passion for playing with cars. Met a bloke that put $60,000 into a VT. One mean beast of a car- but most go why?.

atm my passion is running thin lol, 3 things could be wrong with it. crank angle sensor, oil pressure sender, or bcm. it's switched off 3 times in the past month but started straight up. worst was on a hill at the lights it went dead in heavy peak hour traffic- good fun.

  • @385921105 how much did u pay 4 it

  • could a 7 inch monitor fit in where your stereo was?

  • With the standard executive fascia yes it should, With a slight gap at the bottom. With my international fascia I would need to use a 6.5".

  • looks awesome man. I have a 91 model myself

  • Thanks mate. Is that a VN or VP ?.

  • VN mate, goes like a beast.

  • Light as a feather also.

  • Nah, she does have some weight to her.

  • Like my old VP, Little extra weight, None factory additions.

  • HOLDEN POWER

  • I got a series 2 VT Acclaim :D

Good first car, she needs new shocks tho......

And the insurance costs a fortune

  • Sure are nothing over the top or European, But a great cars to buzz around in.

Don't go pedders they charge a mint.

Have you see Payasyoudrive ?. Cheap if you don't drive much. I'm insured for $11,500. Under $80 per month. Full comprehensive...

  • thats pretty good, im about to get my Ls with the car in my name, so the insurance is still pretty pricey for me. Right now im looking at suncorp cause I get 20% discount (Parents are rating 1) still a fair bit of money

  • Good luck with that, Best feeling driving nothing else like it.

Suncorp i have heard of them ?.

  • mate i got my L's 8 months ago.. got my first car (vx v6 5spd manual commodore) the best i could find was with 'Lumley'.

the insurance on mine is $2,800 annually (until im 21, then the price drops dramatically)

it was 2,300 but then i added rims, body kit, stereo, brakes, shocks, and a whole heap of other aftermarket shit and now its 2800 but yea give lumley a try.. if i have no claims by the time im 21, they say iit should be around the 700 mark by then!!!

  • Gday, Nice buy btw.

I ended up going with payasyoudrive. Aniother was bingle.

Full comprehensive, agreed value of $11,500, $550 per year. But i am much older then you are. Bingle was about $580 one off payment, for Agreed $10,500.

But i will still have a look at your insurance company, We can always do better mate. Thanks for that.

  • mate gotta hand it to ya, you reserected that car and put life back into her. what'd it cost when it was smashed up in that shed place?? and i thought all the fixing up you did you woulda stuck a better aftermarket bumper on it or somthing crazy but either way she looks sick az . good work on that shiz .

  • Thanks mate :-).. $3300 i got it for 2 years ago.

Me to lol, I wanted a Monaro front, My repairer talked me out of it - i wasn't happy lol. He said they inspections are very tough very strict, We just don't want to give them a reason to question it.

So i sneaked in a Calais bar with previsions for fog lights after lol, Atleast then i can ad the lower ss kit and fog's for it...

In the end half of the things i bought for it sat in my shed until it was past the inspections lol.

  • so mate wat you got in the garage

any thing else other than the berlina

  • Just the VP mate.. Next project will be hopefully lol, A V8 of some type. Got little ideas of going backwards into a VR-VS SS 5LT. Just as a play thing. Keep the Berlina as the cruise around comfortable drive...

VTII SS Commodores are very cheap now. Even VX SS. Dam even a VY SS is about $17,000 good prices.. They will only drop over the next 2 years. So if i play with the Berlina to much it might hinder any savings lol.

At the moment the car is not moving. Dash cluster is in WA getting done.

  • Well i got a VT Calais bought it in 2008 its a V8 and its a very comfortable drive and i bought it 24 Thousand and now it only worth 8 Thousand so yer holden prices drop pretty big

Good luck with your next project

    Cheers

  • Worst thing with cars they loose value as they drive off the floor..

For me i didn't mind, I spent plenty on cars over the years. So really it's the fun side for me not the investment side i like most.

In the mid 90's i had a 77 Gemini lol. Kermit frog green ugly colour stood out lol... Had a very nice motor, Very fast car going on what was around then... Handled like a Go-Cart and felt every bump in it.

Thanks mate... Would have had the V8 now if my friend sold his dad's car 3 months early.

  • nice job fixin it up did u do it yourself or get some company to do it???

  • I done about as much as i could got the parts done some of the interior.. The front had to be done by a guy around the corner from me.

But the rest besides the "AirBags" was done by me.

    Thanks again again...

  • Thats a sweet Holden, I wish they sold them here, wouldn't mind having Holden HSV Clubsport R8 for my first car!

  • Thank you mate.

They might sell them under vauxhall vrx ?.

  • Actually, I'm from the U.S.

    I love those cars also!

They sell the Pontiac G8, and maybe an UTE version, but that doesn't compare to the raw power and performance of the Vauxhall and Holden!

  • Yeah they are the newer versions of them. Mine is the last model a bit lighter and smaller..

The G8 should one day hopefully come with a Ls3 or LS9 hopefully. We were hoping HSV sold some rebadged models in the states one day. But we are not sure if that will ever happen.

  • The U.S. is a little stingy when it comes to importing cars...We have the strictest import laws for cars in all of the world.

Not exactly good for all those HSV fans.

I'm a huge fan of Holden Commodores, and Caprices. Sadly they discontinued the Caprice in '97, or somewhere around there.

I also like many of Opel/Vauxhall models like the Corsa, Vectra and the Insignia.

Ford sell fantastic cars in Europe and in Australasia like the Falcon, Mondeo, Fiesta, Territory, and the Focus.

  • LOL. Yes i was told that not so long ago. On many international car forums the U.S guys were always saying they want the falcons commodores at home. The big 4 door RWD cars with power and room.

Hopefully there is a rumour the statesman/Caprice might make it to the states. It's sold in China as the Buick Park Avenue. The names there waiting to export into the U.S.

Yes i don't mind them little Opel Vauxhall cars. My mother was going to buy the last Vectra we had here CDXI top of the range.

  • The Holdens are great!

Love the big V8 RWD cars!

I would love it, as a Buick, not so much.

If it came in as a Chevy, it would be awesome!

The Vectra is great, I especially like the Vectra A and B.

  • That's the Aussie moto. IF it's RWD and got 4 doors it must have a V8 lol.

That would be great for Buick to import a few on trial.

We are getting the Caddy's this year as a premium car to sell. I last year spotted a LHD Caddy Escalade getting around on test. Stood out in white.

  • Do you know what models they will sell there?

The Escalades are huge SUVs, huge engines too!

Well thats a great motto, i guess thats why they don't sell too many 2 Dr. muscle cars there.

    The Monaro excluded.

  • Not not sure on the escalades. There still hasn't been a word on them selling here. But testing them here to not sell here is a bit weird.

Yeah in the old days we have 2 doors getting around. But then family's come along and people like my father sold his 2 door car. And ended up buying a 4 door statesman. So i think they just added the power and suspension into the 4 doors and made them a family car that can turn into muscle.

  • Yeah, That is kinda strange.

They are sweet cars! The only thing we have thats close the the RWD 4 Dr. Muscle cars is the G8..And they don't really have a sporty model.

  • Yes they are just the SS and some are SSV models.

Would be nice if they upped it into a HSV LS3 GTS..

Just read in the paper that the Holden Ute isn't in pontiac planing work. So no go on the Ute getting over mate. But i thought they had the Ute made and ???.

  • oh, Well i sure it would be!

Well, thats too bad! I was looking forward to it coming here to the US! Oh well, but Pontiac better drop some better engines in it now, the G8s aren't selling well anyways. So i'm sure if they made higher performance engines, it would be a more desired car.

  • It is a shame. It's like a 2 door coupe the ute. Handles like a car they say with a very large boot.

The concept they did up with the 7 litre engine would be a good start 400hp under the bonnet.

When the monaro (GTO) made it's way over we still used the LS1 in our versions. But you guys fitted the LS2. There is no reason something like that can't be done again with the G8.

Everyone is scared about money at the moment, Even with fuel prices low. Our Falcon/Commodores are selling slow.

  • Yeah, The Falcons are great, the Commodores are too, but I think that if the gas prices do go back up, there will be fewer and fewer of these cars..

  • Yes great car also.. Think your right. Unfortunately as cheap as it is now there is only one way it will go. And that's up. But we can enjoy cheap fuel whilst it lasts lol...

  • Gasoline prices here are 1.79 $USD and last summer it was 4.79 $USD. I still worry it will go back to the original prices!

  • It's better the $4.00 lol.. Here is about $.96 per litre but we feel it should be lower maybe by 10c or more.. We just haven't seen the large drop we expected that under $1 all the time..

I run 98 oct only and have for 3 years nice clean fuel.. I haven't paid under $1.14 for it yet.

  • Thats fairly comparable to the average prices here in the US.

we run lower octane fuel. We have 87,89,91,93, and sometimes 95, depending on where you go.

    87,91,95 is most common.

  • I wonder if your octane ratings are the same as ours just done different ?. 95 might be our 98.

Yes prices aren't to bad considering we paid $1.70 last year lol. I miss the days of 70c lol.

  • perhaps, I have a friend In the UK, and they have higher octane fuel ratings too, I'm not sure whether the ratings are different, or whether the octane is actually higher.

  • It's a bit weird like that country to country.

What model vectra would you consider best A-B ?. Thinking of getting my mother a Vectra late this year something smaller then the commodore.

Don't know a great deal about them and which model is best most reliable ???.

  • The B is better, it's safer too, I highly recommend the Vectra B!

  • Thanks for that.. I like that one myself in a V6. Mothers got a heavy boot lol.

  • or yer and what did yu crash into

  • Not sure i got it crashed. But at a guess i think a tray truck it hit from the damage on the bonnet.

I had 2 to pick from. A LS1 Executive or this. I went more towards luxury. But dam i still think about that LS1 Executive. Would have been a nice sleeper car.

But that's in the past and now i drive like a grandfather lol.

  • so does my dad my mum drive like a 14 year old

  • should have gone for the LS1 mate

  • Your right i would have had more fun.

Wish i had the electrics of this one with a LS1 up front.

Only problem was the LS1 Exec had some pretty bad damage at the front compared to this.

More then likely needed both front rails replaced. But on the good side it only had single airbag. So no need to have the full safety check of 4 airbags.

  • When had a holden berlina and it was white but my dad crashed it in the front like that so we are getting a falcon

  • Probably a good idea. Unless you got the time and money to play around it's not worth fixing and crashed car over $2000. Unless someone's insurance company is paying for it lol.

  • yer my dad wrote the car off and it would of been way to much to cost it was a 1999 model i have a vid of the crash i will try to get it on youtube

  • Yeah that's why insurance pay them off, To much for them to fix..

Thats when good deals can be found.

  • Hey excellent video, as an owner of a VX, I love seeing people restoring commodores back to health. I have a question though, What type of impact did it have? and wouldn't it have bent the car out of shape therefore I guess it would never be "exactly" like new?

    Nice video :-)

  • Hey thanks:)..

All front end damage. Rad support was toast. IT bent back the tips of the rails. But lucky we only had to cut them back and weld the tips back. The actually rails were straight. The only thing on the outside front that survived was the passenger guard lol.

So pretty much anything ahead of the engine was replaced new. And very lucky there was no suspension or steering damage. Done 2 airbags though.

I think it hit the rear of a truck it looks like the lower section of a tray truck.

  • Because i can.

  • Thanks mate:)..

If i had my time again, I might not have done it lol.

Must admit was harder then i was counting on, But if you could get one with only slight damage and Air bags are fine, You will be in business.

12 months ago it was cheap and a perfect deal, But now they are cheaper, But it's hard to look back and compare now..

But in the end i wouldn't be selling it, I'll just drive it around and enjoy it..

Will ad some mods also, So price wise that wont be an issue anymore.

  • Came up bloody good mate, Ive been wanting to get a slightly damaged commodore for a while now. Could be a cheaper alternative?
