You are by so far the best I've seen on you YouTube with Dave Matthews that it's not even funny. Completely natural, totally into the song, no pretense. I couldn't imagine it being done any better, and that goes for every DM song I've seen/heard you cover.
I haven't had a chance to look into your original stuff yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Hey man, awesome Dancing Nancies cover! You really rock it! I like to cover this one too! If you get a chance to check it out, let me know what you think!
Nice job best cover of this song I've seen on here especially like the bend you part you put in sounds like a fill I've heard Tim do at that part really nice work hope you dont mind that I'm using your version as a blue print for learning to play this
you have an amazing voice! wow! and you're quite talented on the guitar too...i'm way impressed. i saw DMB in september and they were amazing. i love your cover! you rock!
Thanks for the great video and good fucking job! Been playing guitar for a year now and I'm in the process of learning this song. This was a big help! Cameramen are stupid and when they film Dave they never focus in on his strumming and fretting, so it's difficult to learn from. Thanks again.
It'll be 2 later this year...tho i about every 3-4 weeks i feel like i keep getting better -- i have trouble with most of his fast songs, like the warehouse -- the beat is just to fast for me to strum and sometime i feel like the pick is gonna fly out of my hand.. i hope to get better at that
i remember how that feels. try and remember that speed comes naturally with practice. its one of those things that you cant really force. try and challenge yourself, but dont push your boundaries, or you will get too frustrated.
just out of curiosity, what is your method for getting a song down? personally, i find this song EXTREMELY hard to sing and play at the same time. i can never get the timing down. how did you go about doing it?
One thing that I find helpful is to watch Dave's playing - if you watch his strumming hand, you'll notice that even when he's not hitting notes (and just muting) he "keeps the beat" in 1/8 or 1/16 note patterns (I don't claim to be an expert in music theory, by any means... correct me if I'm wrong). This song is in 4/4, and I just try to remember that my right hand will keep time for me in 1/16 notes as I sing.
Another tip: try tapping your right hand in 1/8 and 1/16 notes along to this song while singing at the same time; then try playing along with the guitar. Hope this helps! :)
sure does, thanks alot. its great to find someone on youtube who's not a jerk. lol. and by the way, do you think you could to "tripping billies" sometime? that would be great.
I have been thinking about doing that song lately, actually. I'll definitely try to get on that as soon as I can.
I do agree that, based on a lot of the comments people leave on each other's walls, there are a lot of jerks floating around. So far I haven't encountered too many, but I'm sure I will soon lol.
Unreal cover. I love how youtube exposes great artists. You are one of them. Keep it up my man.

Yeah, they're great guitars. It would sound even better plugged in, but I don't have the equipment for that yet...
123michaelm123 4 years ago
yea, the funny thing is is that my ovation doesent have an electric function. its solely acoustic. weird, huh?
