  • Dunking is awesome and all, but it hardly constitutes a great player. There are some absolutely awesome slam dunk experts who wouldn't last five minutes in the NBA. I am not saying that Dominique Wilkins wasn't a good basketball player. I am just saying that being able to dunk like a machine does not make a great basketball player on par with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, or Lebron James, if he could ever actually win a championship ring, something which Wilkins also failed to do.

  • @22458 Plenty of great players didn't win a title, and plenty of poor and mediocre players did. E.g., Elgin Baylor never won an NBA title, but Brian Scalabrine did. Is Scalabrine a Hall of Fame prospect? No. Is Scalabrine a better player than Baylor? Of course not. Wilkins didn't average 24.8 pts a game and score 26.668 pts on dunks alone. So what if he didn't win a title.
