Thank you Andrea for your advice about hanglide loop, after many time watching your video i learn and doo it loop in Croatia I,m your fan always and sand to you great greetings from Croatia.
Hey nice, verrrry smooth - too often you see pilots just throw the bar out to get over the top, I always worry about the leading edges - but yours are just really controlled all the way through = perfect.
Sorry to hear about your knee, that will mend with time though ,I used to do my acro on a HPAT & then a TRX, but wow dude you are looking great, hope to see more of you in the future ,If you are ever in California look me up ,Dream Weaver Hang Gliding--
my knee is going better now and I hope to fly again soon because I have to go to the World Air Games in june and after 8 months of forced rest i really need training.
I have flown with an HP AT too, and I've done my first loop with it (in 1991). It was a great glider :).
Thank you Doug, if i'll be in California one day, I'll let you know for sure... :-)
I hope I will have the time to create some new acro clip the next season. I wanted to do it the last season but I broke my knee in june and I've been all summer long walking on crutches...
yes I remember you and I'm happy to know that you've finally found the acro course you were searching for. I've never seen Mitch "live" but I know (and I've seen on video) that he is certainly one of the best acro pilot in the world. I probably could learn a lot of thinghs from Mitch but, you know, he is a little far from my home :). Anyway, I can imagine that for you was a great experience and a very good way to improve your aerobatic skills. Go on like that!
the trick at 2.38 was my first Split-S ever. To be honest, it wasn't a perfect execution but, considering that it was my first attempt, it was not so bad, at the end. Now I can do it much, much better.
Yes, we guess the speed in acro, we don't use the speed indicator. Anyway, the experience help you to evaluate the speed.
I live in Rome (Italy) and I have to drive at least 80 km to reach a good place to fly. Only the Vertigo Voss air show (Norway) is with a boat towing system, the other (few) shows are with a classic mountain take off and, if the wind is from the back and we don't have alternatives, we obviously cancel the fly. I also like that clip but (unfortulately) I wasn't there. Andrea.
Cont... the wind is from the sw. So you get out there wind is from the sw, you set up the glider and the wind changes direction, boy I hated that. I dident have much time anyway and when I did have the time to go flying I couldent. How is it over were you live? And when you do an air show you probably get pulled up with and ultrilight otherwise what if the wind changes on take off when you do the show?
not at the moment I was flying before and had to give it up, but now I want to go back to it. I am no pro more like a beginer, by the way that loop at 02:38 was awesome. When you do the loop do you just guess the speed at wich you loop the glider or do you have the speed indicator you use? I was using the falcon as my glider before, this time Im geting a sport 2. One of the reasons I gave it up before is because over were I live there is one hill were you only can take off when
Hi, impressive flying! Nice to see a hang glider being 'spun. Being an older pilot, we used to spin the older single surface HG's by grabbing the keel behind the hang-point-effective!
what is really impressive is your description!! I can't imagine to spin a glider grabbing the keel behind the hang point! Brrrr.... you need real nerve to do it!! My sincere compliments!
hey ionfo where do i go 2 sign up im doing some acro (wing overs and loops)and want to do spins but dont want to forge ahead by myself c hanglide mcclure (truck chase)on you tube ,by the way that trick at 2:33 was nice and you gave me food for thought.nice video 2 untill next time keep it upside down.
I've learned acro by myself so I don't know exactly where you could "sign up" to perfectionate your skills but I can tell you for sure that in USA (I'm from Italy) there's the excellent Freestyle champion John Heiney who sometimes organize acro courses and stages. I think that you can find easily his website just digiting his name in the google searchbar.
This is outstanding! One question though... At 2:33 the pilot makes takes a small roll right, and then hard roll left while vertical and completes a loop. Is he weightless at this point? I thought weight shift was how you steer these aircraft. Not to mention the cameraman can barely keep up with the speed and aerobatics at the end of the clip. I WANT TO DO THIS!!!!! Amazing Pilot!
Yes, weight shift is how we steer our hang gliders. In aerobatic, if we manage the naneuver properly, the centrifuge force creates an "apparent weight" which still give us enough directional control while we are "upside-down". That's why we can still steer the glider at the apex of a loop.
If you want to do that call the nearest fly school and join with us!! :-D
...hi man, thanks a lot, nice to know that you like it.
Yeah, this is definitely a great sport! You did the right choice and I wish you to join the aerobatic environment soon, it's fun and full of nice people.
My glider is a Wills Wing T2 and it is a great glider. It is reliable, strong, finely made and with great flight characteristics.
hey there can say how many times i seen your clip now but its alot , , got new glider now moyes xt 165, and have finished my training and flowen it about 7 times now , check out my vid and tell me what you think , thanks for keeping the sport alive dude
