VOTE YES ON 2. SB5 must stay. Us working Ohioans in the private sector are being sqeezed to pay for the FAT pay, benefits, and especially the retirement package. We in the private sector have not been keeping up with the state workers. You need to understand that property taxes are killing us. And colemans 1/2 percent (25% in real terms) did not help either. I get NO pension. NO benefits - when I retire at age 67. NO 30 and out. NO frills. Do you State workers understand?
Sorry, I don't see any deceit, they just put her on saying the same words she used in the first ad. I do however, see a lot of lies on the vote no ads, like trying to tell people they will never get the equipment they need and so forth, there are a lot of states that have no collective bargaining and they are dong just fine. I live next to a firefighter and I'm tired of seeing all the new toys he keeps buying on my dime.
@Vanyell75 apparently, it's not easy for some to see how this is deceitful but it is clearly. If you have read, understood and agree with everything in the entire 304 page issue 2, then I have no problem with someone's intelligent decisions. If you have not, then you don't know what you are voting for.
@Vanyell75 Issue 2 furthers the assumption that politicians are = to heads of corps & should dictate to labor or heads of corps will dictate to politicians how the Gov. should operate. The only form of Gov. that works like a corp. is a fascist dictatorship. Sorry that you envy your neighbor's lifestyle, my only response with such limited info from you is that his salary is not coming from just your "dime" alone. Maybe the real issue is that our politicians should be encouraging job growth .
@tyedyesky420 It is one thing to use an opponent's comments and point out how they are wrong but it is another to edit words to appear to say something else entirely. Here is an example of this sort of technique, In your responses you just wrote this:" they were trying to mislead you" ..."vote no on issue 2!!!!!" " vote no on issue 2!!!!!" Pay attention, the ad is here: watch?v=TJsN3FH1O1g
@tyedyesky420 What you seem to fail to see is that the clip of her suggesting to vote no on this issue has been edited so that she, at no point actually makes her suggestion. This clipping IS misleading.
@jdoggtwo Yes, this is well spoken. We have to remember that much of the telemarketing on these political issues are targeted at specific demographic areas. In other words, citizens in Dayton or Cleveland (for example) may never see all of both sides of the ad campaigns because they don't waste their money in un- winnable markets.
@tyedyesky420 seriously? You see no problem with their stealing of ad copy and editing out words to completely reverse the meaning of her statements? At best, this is an illegal copyright infringement. At worst, in your case, it is a prime example of how propaganda can lead the masses around by their ignorance.
@afroboy256 Agree and Everyone should also read some of the comments that the supporters make. It's seriously disturbing. Also notice how the actual deceptive vid uploaded by "BetterOhio" has the comments disabled.
That old bag never had a job in her life and doesn't give a fuck if everyone's taxes are raised. She needs to get back in the kitchen and stay out of politics.
Wish I had the pay and benefits those firefighters have (paid for by my taxes). They bring up good points that 43% better pay for firefighters than average people and that doesn't include the benefits they get. I can't afford to keep water turned on and taxes are soon to come around again on the house. I am sorry, but some government needs thinning. You just can't make a society that lives off the people so large and not expect it to collapse after a while. Well it is collapsing.
@Anynameoriginal It is collapsing because the loss of jobs is destroying the middle class. The upper 2% wants you to work harder for less pay and no benefits. There is only so much money to go around and they want yours. Maybe you should be asking the politicians that you support why we've have a severe middle-class job shortage for the past 30 years.
Using this grandma’s image and speech is NO DIFFERENT than when they used Joe the Plumber in various ads during the 2008 campaign season. Once you are captured on camera & you give permission for it to air on the People’s Airwaves, your image is public domain, unless you’ve taken special steps to copyright the image (like actors on TV shows)
.
And even if it is copyrighted "free use" allows images to be used. As example: Snippets of Glenn Beck airing on MSNBC in order to disagree with him
The idea that politicians and organizations can smear, lie and blatantly plagiarize each other in a Western democracy is mind boggling and illegal here in most of Europe.
Limited speech? no, that's ignorant. Most European constitutions have freedom of speech as the first amendment and every country has in fact "limited speech." You can't yell fire in a US theater..that's inciting a riot and illegal. So I don't understand how blatant political slander can be legal. Remember when the McCain campaign said Obama gave sex lessons to minors and setting up death panels lol. That's is just absurd and the fact that a lot of Americans accept that is even more troubling.
I am so pissed off!!! This ad is retarded and is like spitting in firefighters/police officers. How about we just take away all the cops and firefighters and let the gangs of inner city Cleveland wreck havoc!!!!
I live in a different state and oppose MANDATORY state unions because fat bloated lifetime pensions for the people at the top are bankrupting the states. I am a taxpayer advocate and support small government. However, I agree that this ad engaged in 'dirty pool' and is a total misrepresentation. Both sides should clearly present their cases based on merit. Also, the Bill itself is deceptive because it is stated in the negative. Many people who vote 'yes' are actually in favor of unions.
@YesGoLocal Please understand that unions don't give fat bloated pensions for ppl at the top. They try to pay what public sector workers should get paid. Imagine if shareholders of your company choose how much to pay their workers. One reason why the public secton(ONE REASON) is the high turn over rate due to poor pay. The people who are paid a lot at the top are the same with every other organization w/ ppl at the top. They choose how much they are paid. US entitlement goes to far. WE THE PPL!
Wait a minute, so I should vote no on issue 2. Or is it I should vote yes on issue 2 ? Or maybe I should just vote maybe on issue 4 and split the difference !
Apparently the corporate shills who made this have no intention of apologising. Their purpose and intent was always to misrepresesnt and they don't think they've done anything wrong.
Why should I pay for someone else's house on fire? Or someone else's car being broken into? Or someone else's kid's education, just so they can grow up and be in charge of my future? It's not like this stuff will ever happen to me and I will need the assistance of strangers and neighbors. Socialists. You have a garden hose, don't cha? Put out your own fire!
Helpful hint to "Build a Better Ohio": if you have to trick people into thinking they're voting for the exact opposite of what you want them to vote for, then maybe you're on the wrong side of issue.
Why are people surprised that the Tea Party would pull such a dishonest stunt?
This is the kind of thing that the Tea Partier's are known for. I'm just glad that they continuously do this because it shows rational America how deceptive they are.
What Building a Better Ohio has done in their ad is what's called "taking something out of context." It is virtually always done in order to mislead people, and it is shameful. I wonder if Marlene Quinn doesn't have a legal case that could be made against BBO, given that the ad does give the strong--and completely wrong, possible hurtful & emotionally distressing--impression that Ms. Quinn supports Issue 5 (SB 5).
(Also) gently, cordially, rationally, ADVISE* your fellow voters, on social networking and news websites' comment sections, to (for instance): Consider that the folks who would have us vote FOR Issue 2, are using intentionally- & obviously-misleading ways and means of swaying our votes. That in itself SHOULD be enough to indicate the intention behind the law... and a guide for voting. (You say it YOUR way... that's just a suggestion.)
Right there is the proof not to pass issue 2....1st video done buy hard working union PEOPLE who care about what the goverment is trying to pull.... 2nd video, re edited work of a union work force done by ONE person who knows how to chop up a union backed video. What do you think would happen if this thing gets passed??? Case closed. Thumbs up for " Vote NO on Issue 2".
This is basically the same as falsely claiming an endorsement, which is ABSOLUTELY actionable. Not only that, but I believe you could also sue for the illegal use of your likeness, and possibly even defamation of character.
Anyway, just further proof of what SCUM supports SB5.
The argument she's being falsely portrayed as making in the stolen ad doesn't even make sense. In what universe would fewer firefighters ever make a positive impact on the chances for a fire victim's survival? Perhaps the people that made this ad are hoping people won't even read the ballot and will just blindly cast a "yes" vote.
Sadly, that may be the case, and it's probably a tactic that would work.
@baritonebynight The problem is the Tea Party has been co-opted by the established Republicans and have been lied to and mislead themselves. This shows how crooked the Pro SB5 leaders are, they lie to their own supporters. BTW, you lose credibility when you use terms like "teabagger". Respect for even those you oppose goes a long way. Kasich and everyone of his cronies must go, Ohio is a State, not his personal Kingdom.
@ffjsb you are absolutely right with being critical of calling them teabaggers. I could never respect Kaisch and his cronies, but I should try to feign respect in a public forum such as this.
@baritonebynight You can still be repectful to those undeserving of respect, it puts you on higher ground. I know many Tea Party "type" people. The original goal of the Tea Party of smaller government and lower taxes is still commendable. They've been led astray.
@baritonebynight, I understand where you're coming from as far as respect goes, but anyone who blatantly disrespects citizens and sets out to disrupt, deceive, and purposely mislead the voters like this, DON'T DESERVE RESPECT!
This is the most low down bullshit thing i have ever seen. I am tired of the Lies. These Issue 2 supporters are out of control. Where does it stop. They're all a bunch of union busting ASSHOLES.
