Wow. Years ago, John Sebastian (of The Lovin' Spoonful) was doing a radio show here in L.A. called the Good Time Music Show. I remember one night he actually talked about the Marxophone because he used one on the song "She Is Still a Mystery," It was hard to picture from the way he described it and I've always wondered what it looked like. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Absolutely fabulous music! I have never heard of that instrument before. Where does it originally come from? I love zither music and that reminds me a little of that kind of sounds. Greetings from Finland ;)
Stephen Foster's "Hard Times Come Again No More" There are lots of versions of it on YouTube - James Taylor, Maura O'Connell, Kate & Anna McCarrigle, Nanci Griffith, Laura Love, & Bruce Springsteen, to name a few.
haha. The argument below is possible one of the funniest, and most innane, that i've ever seen on youtube. - And that's sayin a lot. - Brill, nice one lads!!
Don't worry, snookums. All is calm. It takes more than some poor schmuck who can't spell "you," "have," or "'cause" to get me upset. You and your ilk are a dime a dozen. But thanks for the concern.
It's okay to admit that you're illiterate, as long as you actually care and try to learn.
There's a difference between not knowing how to spell complicated words like "you," and merely abbreviating "because" to "cause." The difference is one is fucking retarded, and the other is simply abbreviating.
I own a Marxophone as well. Mine has mostly original strings, but I was forced to improvise and use guitar and banjo strings. It's also missing the nameplate. Thank you very much for posting this!
This is the best performance I've ever seen on one of these oddball mongrel instruments (tremoloa, ukeline, marxophone, etc). Thanks for sharing. It is indeed, as you say, a "perfect marxophone."
So cooool

BEAUTIFUL!
How do you amplify it? Is there a way to install wiring and an output or does it have to be mic'd?
Also, it seems like one of those that's never quite in tune, is that right?
