  • To this day, I have no idea what Beth and TIm Disa look like.

  • That was quite a time in radio.

  • I listened to AM100 all day back when we lived in Chicago. Johnny B, Kevin Matthews, Steve and Garry. Had a Kev Head T shirt and still have the coffee cup.

  • He looks like Paul Stanley at 2:47

  • A glimpse into an era of Chicago radio that is no more. When I moved into Chicago in 1996, WLUP was the best! Steve and Garry had left, but you had Johnny B, Kevin Matthews and Danny Bonaduce all on one station. I could turn the radio on in the morning and just leave it there all day.

  • I live in the Milwaukee area, and was always grateful that we were able to receive the WLUP signal during those crazy, heady, "golden days" of Johnny B., Kev, and Steve & Gary.

So often I would tune the station in while doing a few odd jobs around the house, and before I knew it, would end up listening for hours on end....

You know, it just occurred to me that I can't remember the last time I listened to the radio that long........probably not since the good old days of "The Loop" !!!

  • That was and still is the funniest line up on the radio! Like blonde1260 said I too would laugh my ass off! It was a shame it all came to an end.

  • oh, man, those were the good old days, when i'd listen to those guy and laugh and laugh....

  • Brandemeier, Kevin Matthews, Steve Dahl and Garry Meyers. A radio line-up that will never be duplicated! These guys had real talent.

97.9, DA LOOP, WLUP, "Where Chicago Rocks!"

Thank you to all those on WLUP who've worked hard entertaining the Chicagoland area since 1977.

    May your signal never die.

  • KevHead for life. He makes those funny wacky voices. Great morning show.

  • kevin matthews sucks

  • I wouldn't know anymore, but he was hilarious back then!

  • no, this guy is horrible. he is on mornings on LAV in grand rapids michigan. he probably wouldn't be bad as an afternoon guy who just played music and said the weather but his morning show sucks. he drags out segments on the dumbest topics and makes people want to put a bullet in their heads. i seriously do not know how he has a job still. but, to give him the benefit of the doubt, i am comparing him to the free beer and hot wings morning show, which is by far the best morning show.

  • Well, that's ashame, when he was on in Chicago he was very funny. He was even on the now extinct WCKG about 6 or 7 years ago and he wasn't bad, though I didn't get to listen to him like I could when I was younger. Oh well, I guess everyone gets older, maybe slows down a bit. I actually heard that Kevin was diagnosed with MS, and that really sucks, I would wish that kind of shit on anyone. But who knows, maybe it's a factor too. Who's to say? He's a talented guy but I've lost track since he left.

  • @BenRichards87 If you think it's so easy being an announcer, then go to the radio station and try doing his job.

You would probably last about 5 minutes.

  • i bet mattews still wears them same stone washed jeans and a mullet

  • Goodbye Steve Dahl we will miss you, if you see me getting smaller I'm leaving. Aloha.

  • OMG...I remember when I ACCIDENTALLY found the a.m. LOOP while working major OVERTIME at a photolab!

THAT was a TREAT! Jim SHORTS - I LOVE You!!!

    that was Golden Radio!

  • Once they got rid of Tim and Beth Disa, it was greatness!

  • kevin mathews is a self loathing douchebag

  • I'd like someone to bring him back to wlup

  • Kevin mathews

  • has to be at least '88 as they're referring to Dan Quayle-- prior to that, had anyone heard of Dan Quayle?

  • this was my favorite station back then. I listened to AM 1000 all day back then!!!

  • Man this used to be an awesome lineup. You could listen all day Brandmeier, Kevin, and Steve and Garry. Does anybody remember Beth and Tim?

  • I think I still have a tape with some Beth & Tim on it. Probably one of the many times I called the station for whatever reason in my little radio nerd mind. Either way they weren't a good fit to that particular station. They had more of the tame "Eric & Kathy-ish" kind of a feel but they worked around some of the free-form comedy radio masters (namely Steve Dahl, the original) so it was a bad fit. They were so-so in my opinion.

What a great station that was in it's heyday though! The best!!

  • he does have MS but he sucked long before that.

  • good to see the guy from willow back in radio (that old gag). That was probably one of the most powerful lineups in radio for a long time.

  • Great video. Man this was the best radio at the time in Chicago. My 3 favories on 1 station. Me and the guys I worked with listend the entire work day to Johnny, then Kev, and then Steve and Garry on the ride home after work. I love when Kevin is doing Jimmy's voice they just show the control panel....LOL... Classic.

  • Long time Kev Head, awesome video. More please?

    "Willow boy!"

  • I used to love the wackie weenies on Brandmeier. I sent one in once- the OJ Polka. Anybody got a copy of it?

  • I truly miss AM 1000 and Chicago radio. Johnny B., Kev, Steve & Gary. You couldn't get better. If you find more, please post! By the way, check out the mullet on Willow! Notice when Jim Shorts speaks, they cut away.

  • i grew up listening to steve and gary then brandmier and listened to kev till he disapeared..great to hear them all back .i really miss kevin though he made all those days in manufacturing fly by with hysterical lafter...

  • dude use a t-shirt!!!!!!

  • I think this might be 1987 or at the latest 1986, but not 1984...Steve and Garry were on WLS then.
