The Turkish government wanted to Turkishfy the Ottoman Empire and felt threatened by the Armenians just because other Christian minorities such as the Greeks, Georigans and Eastern Europeans broke away. They wanted to stab the Armenians in the back so that they wouldn't have the chance to do the same thing to them like the others.
They murdered the Armenians in their own territory, not Russia's nor anyone else's. The Armenains in their terriroty were on their side, and they got murdered.

I really wonder that... I guess armenian community lived under the ottomans rules for a long time. What was the reason that claimed genocide have been done in 1914. Did ottomans just realized that they dont like armenians ? Did they kill them just for they want some entertainment ? It really makes me confused. Because I also know that Turks did not win the battle. So I guess their situation at war was not good enoug.
