The reason why they used the cement is because they didn't want to break the tunnels the the ants have made once they start digging, Also cement is much stronger than compact dirt so in a way the ants have a far more durable home to live in now so everybody wins. Oh and what would be the point of a cement forrest anyway? Only a stupid person could think of a stupid idea.

I don't understand how they were able to do this. I would imagine that the heavy, liquid cement would break and ruin the delicate tunnels in the soft soil, especially since it was "pumped" in. You can see in the video that the soil is quite soft and loose. I find it strange that the cement didn't seep through the soil, or cause the colony to collapse right away, before reaching its deeper levels. Would someone please explain it to me?

@GenericTerric i believe that ants not only dig out the dirt but also spit on the cave walls or something to make it stronger? i think ive heard that but im not sure. it would make sense since the ants themselves need to make the walls strong enough so they dont collapse on themselves, but thats more of a guess than a concrete answer. that would be my guess why the concrete tends to not seep through tunnels and destroy them. it may also be that directly underneath the pump was compromised, and
