It's better than nikon mb-d80, the only advantage of nikon is the name brand off course lol I just replaced my mb-d80 with this one and i like it way better since it actually works. mine came with black/silver box, wonder what's the difference?
Hey, great review. You mentioned about the d300's grip and it's just the bottom piece and no stock it connects via pins onto the bottom of the camera, you don't need to remove the door and/or the battery it just connects onto it :) it feels great and is a rock solid hold for any lens :D
Thanks for the video. For information, I have the D300 and the Nikon brand grip and it is rock solid with whatever weight of lens I choose to put on it. If you are thinking of getting the D300 and grip, I would recommend the Nikon brand grip, it's made out of metal and feels really good in the hand. I have the D200 and nikon grip also and the grip for the D200 feels ok but nowhere near as solid as the D300 grip.
@srvwannabe I went on amazon and looked at the two grips labeled MB-D80 but I still wasn't sure if its truly from Nikon because it had 1 picture of the real one and a bunch more of the aftermarket model. Do you know if it's really the nikon model? It seems to have dropped down in price and not as much as you had said in the video
@fastnoypi : DO NOT use AAs with this grip. Buy an additional battery. I have 3. The tray is a pain in the ass to load & you can meter the ions through the camera, but not the AAs.
Cool man. I'm just getting into photography. I just got an Olympus 1050SW for kayak trips and other miscellaneous things. I'm hoping to get a D40 in a couple of weeks. Keep adding on to the Cheapskate Photography series. It is very informative.
thanks for doing this, nicely done.

Do you know it this product will fit a Nikon D70 camera? Or, of there is a model that is made for the D70.

What was your reasoning for getting a d90 since you had the d2h already?
dmansley1986 1 year ago
@dmansley1986 I needed a camera with a higher resolution and better low light performance for certain situations
srvwannabe 1 year ago
@srvwannabe No kidding. Love my D200 but low light sucks. Just ordered a D90 and am killing time waiting.

Looks EXACTLY like nikons MB-80. It's funny how you pay double the price just for the brand name. Good review, I think I'll get this for my new d90.

Can you use NiMH batteries with this?

@fastnoypi I'm not completely sure. It seems as if it should be fine but I would google it just in case.

Are you getting a D300? I have a D300 with a Zeikos grip and it feels VERY strong.
