They attach pole to he's chest and on the end of that pole they attach camera.

The camera is on a harness attached to his waist and just out of shot.

During editing, the footage of him leaving is then cut up and merged back together using fades into two sequences which are layered on top of one another. the opacity of each sequence MAY need to be at 50% so that overall colour levels don't change but I'm not sure.

It's quite possible that the shot of him leaving was filmed multiple times to gain the footage also.
