  • The museum should also include Spaniards. Approximately 8,000 Spaniards immigrated to the Hawaiian Islands between 1907 and 1921. They came on the same ships as the Portuguese--- British ships that first stopped in Gibraltar and then continued on to Madeira and the Azores to get Portuguese workers. However, few Spaniards remained in Hawaii, preferring to immigrate to California, while the Portuguese remained.
