I would suggest making a deal of responsibility with your parents. Like, "I'll do so and so, for so and so long, to prove I can handle the responsibility of a puppy." and then research the breed you want until you can answer any question they ask, and assuage any fear they have.

They dont usually sell in "stores and stuff" lmao... They are usually sold by private owners and breeders... Try online.... but be careful that you buy near your home so you can see the parents yourself and the actual papers varifying that they are full breed and healthy

You guys- need some advice. I'm a student at SU and will be living in a house on campus junior + senior year. I could definitely take a weim out for a run at least once a day, and being a lacrosse player, I could keep it pretty active. However, the houses don't have fences (I could put in an electric, I suppose), and I'll be sharing my house with friends, and will likely frequently have people over. Basically, will a weim work out for an active college guy?

Schatzie, my female Weim, is a year and seven months. I drove for 16 hours straight to get her (from a breeder) when she was 4 months old and I'm thinking about going back to get another one. I don't think I could ever own another breed! Beautiful puppies!

Weimaraners are shades of silver grey, not black. If your black is Kc reg then I would suggest it is a 'blue' weim, a colour from the USA but not a breed standard colour here nor in their country of origin.

i might get 1 of them, there so cool. they look like my black lab as a puppy. by the way i have a hybrid black lab/ chow. They are fantastic hybrids. They are smart athletic fun not overly aggresive "chinese" looking and scared of water so if u have a pool (like me) you dont need a fence!

anything ending in doodle...lets see, we have labradoodles, schnoodles, pekapoos, seems every wants to cross with poodles. Poodles are smart, athletic, beautiful dogs. Cross them with a dumb one, and you raise the IQ of the other...Weims need no help. Dogs become mutts once they cross breed, but hey, mutts are some of the best dogs - you just can't show them or enter them in trials. My 2YO Weim won't have doodles, I believe in the breed too much. As do all responsible weim owners

it's because they're supposed to be hunting dogs and their long tails get caught up in the plants when running through the woods if they're not docked.

however, i think it is mean and isn't necessary if it's just a house dog. our weim is docked but he was that way when we got him at 3 months.

I had a weim, she was a great bird dog. She had puppies, so for awhile I had 8 of them. They were so intelligent. Now I have a black lab and a pointer. Both have natural tails. I have never seen a bird dog with a natural tail have a problem running through underbrush. I'd like to have another weimaraner someday, but I'd never buy one with a mutilated tail. I will never again allow weim puppies of mine to be mutilated, either. They are wonderful just the way they God made them.
