On film the instruments show up in contrast more to the white coats than to say black coats. It is a bit odd. I wonder if they are students of CIS or teachers??
i like the playing but for the 6th movement not too much need to milk out the emotion maybe a bit more smooth should help, not too much need for too much in dynamic buildups. otherwise excellent playing
The Sixth movement, Adagio quasi un poco andante (5:16) is very similar to the Jewish Kol Nidre prayer. It is like breath and life itself! I wonder if Beethoven walked by a synagogue and heard the prayer....
@MrUptownman2000 Somewhat unlikely, given that he was deaf by the time he wrote this piece! Still, he could have heard it when his hearing was still working.
not a bad interpretation, but I myself prefer the Medici String Quartet . . . a less Americanized play of the music . . . more smooth, flowing and with unbelievable artistry.
The members of the Cavani String Quartet are all artists-in-residence and faculty at CIM.

In fact, the movement begins exactly at 5:16... and it´s the 6th movement (adagio quasi un poco andante).
