Actually FIVE committes in Congress PASSED plans with a government option and one rejected it. Thus congress has NOT rejected the public plan. Almost certainly the legislation that goes to the floor WILL have a public option and who knows, congress may actually pass it. Then the insuers will NOT be very happy and all the money wasted on campaigns like this will have been in vain. The people's money, which should have been spent on health care.
