  • Poetic...The last time six and a half minutes of clouds were interesting to me was when I tripped on acid! :D

Amazing video though...haha...I live right up the mountain from you ^_^

  • Indeed the clouds can be a bit slow and un-interesting in realtime, but much better when sped-up a bit! :-) The show is much better up in the mountains, or at least the view is :-)

  • great movie

  • Thanks so much for checking it out! I will have to re-make a much better quality version on this one some day - it's an oldie and was encoded at very low resolution in order to get stereo sound (which was a big deal at the time). Cheers! =)

  • Great Video. It makes me realize that we only live once and should take more time out of our lives to enjoy the natural beauty around us more often. I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • I agree - we miss so much cool stuff in our day-to-day rush through life. Glad you enjoyed the show - thanks so much for the great comment! =)

  • These 2 stand out the most I think.

3:44 is great, 4:19 cloudbirth is amazing.

  • Those are probably the best clips in the vid. I've been meaning to-make this one in HD since this old version is very low quality. All the new stuff is so much better. :-) Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • i like the clouds that look like their the bubbles from a boiling pot, and the ones that look like the sea foam crashing

  • It's truely amazing the variety of sights in the sky if one looks long enough :-) Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

  • There are some incredible images in these videos. Full of magical things such as the cloud that appears to spin @5:30.

Very peaceful, very beautiful and nice music.

I've grown to love clouds. I live in the UK, I have no choice. The last two bad Summers we have had have created some amazing cloud formations. I'd love to catch them in time lapse.

  • Thanks so much for the view and great comment :-) If you're a cloud fan then you'd definitely enjoy getting into time lapse - especially if you get cool formations on a regular basis. That spinning cloud at 5:30 is a small lenticular formation, semi-common around mountainous areas. Some really nice ones at the end of "Stitching the Sky". We're lucky enough to get those sometimes.

Anyway, good luck with your sky-watching endeavors! :-)

  • @jc... dude do u actually do this for fun or you do because of the spraying going on? check out the first clip of "dont talk about the weather" this should interest you as u probably seen alot due to your time lapse vids. apreciate them, nice work .

  • While I don't approve of polluting our atmosphere, I'm definitely more of a photographer than an activist. My first priority is to document the skies in ways which aren't normally visible (time lapse). I use an "entertaining" format to get footage out to more people but I personally tend to take a more neutral stance rather than pushing my opinion. I'll let people argue, speculate, and interpret my scenes as they like. I just try to provide the documentation - "shoot it and show it" :-)

  • Do you have any longer videos of just one spot for a longer time ? :)

  • Oh yes... many many of them. Stop by my JCMDIstockFootage channel for mass cloud time lapses... :-)

  • Cool...

  • Thanks for stopping by! Much better version of this one is in the works. Stay tuned! :-)

  • that is SOOO cool !!

  • I'm glad you like this one! The really good news is that this is one of my lowest quality works (mostly because of some mods I made when I uploaded it to get stereo sound), you'll probably like the newer stuff even better - especially if you can watch it in full screen HD with the lights off... "Sky Spy 2", "Sky Spy 3" and "Stitching the Sky" are good examples. Enjoy! :-)

  • Wow, that's amazing...

  • I need to re-do this one. I cut the video quality a lot to get a stereo soundtrack before stereo was "normal". Now it's really low quality all around ( AND now it's mono too!) since they re-did the processing system. (Doh!) Thanks for watching! :-)

  • No problem, I love this kind of stuff!

  • I love it but i wish my video wouldn't buffer every few seconds,,

  • I have that problem when I watch HD vids. I usually press pause and then go do something else while the whole video downloads, then when it's done I go back watch it without interruption. Thanks for watching and commenting! :-)

  • some of my vids have lost a bit of quality when i upload them to utube! thats normal?

  • Oh yes. YT reduces the bitrate of every version (even the HQ/HD ones) of uploaded videos significantly to address delivery speed issues. They do keep your original upload and generate new versions from it as technology and bandwidth availability improves. When you upload a vid, the server generates at least 5 versions... you can view and download each version by tacking-on the URRL modifier: &fmt=18 (1, 6, 18, 22, 34 are known versions of HD uploads). :-)

  • kewl! i didnt know that ! cheers!

  • awesome weather vid! a few cheemys too cheers jc!your the man!

  • Thanks for watching this oldie but goodie :-) I sereiously need to re-make this vid as I really lost a lot of quality when I dumbed-down the bitrate doing the .FLV stereo thing. :-)

  • really striking imagery. its hard to believe how different our skies look when viewed like this. incredible !

  • The time lapse photography certainly gives us a new perspective on sky! Be sure and check out my HD Sky Spy series, too - that's the REALLY good stuff! Thanks for watching and commenting :-)

  • beautiful

  • Thanks so much for watching! There is a better version (HD, new footage) of this one in the works... :-)

  • en el minuto 2:19 se ve que pasa algo volando! una estrella fugas?

    a fleeting star?

  • Those are jet trails - at high speed playback they look like comets or shooting stars. Thanks for watching! :-)

  • Hey love your videos whats th name of the computer program you use to shot these shots?

  • These were all shot with a MiniDV camcorder, and then the individual frames were captured later from the tape using a prog called "DVanimator+". There are a number of programs out there that will then make the video from the individual frame sequences... I now shoot all my sequences with a Canon 5S-is digital still camera - it's WAY better quality. :-)

  • Thanks for the info :)

  • wow-deffinately one of the most impressive vdeos ive ever seen--well done--what did you shoot these with?

  • Almost all these sequences were shot with a 720x480 MiniDV camcorder and frame-capture process. My newer stuff is FAR superior .. Have a look at my SkySpy 2 and SkySpy 3 vids in full-screen HD for a really spectacular show! Thanks for checking this one out :-)

  • Impressive!! The best video of this type.

  • Thanks! I would have liked to get the video quality better but at the time this was the best I could get and still get the audio in stereo. :-)

  • compared to this my work suckkkss

  • I wouldn't say that - I found your timelapse entertaining! Thanks for watching and the nice comment :-)

  • is it okay for me to use it for non-commercial use?

    please answer asap, clpro.

  • it's mesmerizing and peaceful.

  • I re-watch it every now and again, myself, for a mellow little vacation :D Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • and I´m so impressed about it..so you taked the time to select&edit the scenes from more than 250 hopurs of recording..I´ve also to say I´ve taked a look at your website and all the webpage is outrageous but I especially like the "technician" part..I like a lot

the music..thank you also for subscribing!

  • oops! I don´t know if the word "outrageous" is correct..I´m afraid not(I´m sorry)..

I mean to say that all your webpage is wonderful

  • Yes I got the meaning -it's all good! :D

I'm glad you're enjoying the video and music - many of the MP3s are available from my website. :D

  • it has to take you a long time editing but like a lot the results!..

  • The editing part wasn't too bad - it was the recording and processing of all the time lapse footage! :D All that video took a very long time to process over many months.

Thanks again for watching and commenting :D

  • omg! of course that recording for example

in the sky stitching had to be very hard

(and also in Liquid Sky video and many more that i haven´t seen yet but i surely will)

(it´s so understandable it taked you over two years)..i´ve also seen in the credits of this video that you have selected the scenes from more than 250 hours of video-recording..

  • So much talent. What was the subject of your first time lapse video? Do you remember?

  • Thanks for another nice comment :D My first time lapse: 29-frames of a rippled lenticular cloud formation. My old 386 PC was BARELY able to play it! I still have the sequence, but it's low quality and too short to use. Still, it let me see the behavior of the cloud at a speed that was interesting, and helped me to better understand how the atmosphere moves around us.

I always liked the tiny bit of time lapse I'd seen on TV and always wanted to do it myself. So here we are! :D

  • this is so interesting and curious! thanks a lot..your vids&channel are outstanding..so 5* and subscribing right now!!

  • like a lot also your music

  • Thanks a bunch for the nice comments and your support! :D

  • It's kinda funny how much the sky moves during the day and we hardly notice.

Great vid Chris, as always. ;)

  • Sweet! I've definitely seen a lot of new and interesting things by speeding them up! One day I'll re-make this one in HQ - the quality of this version is pretty bad cuzza the cramped bitrate stereo. Thanks for taking the time to watch this long one. :D

  • Wow that is awesome!!

  • Glad you liked :D Thanks for watching!

  • cloud dancing...thank you i needed just that :)

  • So nice , it's really true to see clouds escaped by the wind .

    nutier

  • Some interesting movement going on up there when you get to see it sped-up. Thanks for watching! :D

  • Very cool video, thanks for posting it.

  • Great clip, five starzz

  • Simply beautiful!

  • I love it!Excellent work, keep it up ;)

  • Thanks! I have tons more footage and just have to write music to go with it.

This video really does look a lot better in its full 720x480 NTSC non-compressed form on a large screen. Maybe a DVD might do it justice. I'll have to work on that! :-)

    Thanks for watching!

  • wonderfull, thanks so much

  • Brilliant ! Awesome editing and very beautiful scenes. Great choice of music also. Wow !

    Thank you for sharing... :)

  • Nice!

This reminds me some hot summer days!

  • trovo questo video molto ben realizzato con delle belle immagini che sembrano crate per questa musica.

    Complimenti!

I find this video very well made with the beautiful images that seem crate for this music.

    Congratulations!

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed :D

  • awesome video, love the music :) Thank you for sharing

  • Love this video. Brilliant pictures and a very moving music.

  • Thanks for the nice comment and glad you enjoyed the show!

I see that your nemesis has followed you here and left a couple of not so nice (and clearly immature) remarks, which were deleted after a short chuckle. I thought at first that your account got hacked.

It's funny how one can benefit from abuse - your popularity soars while the hater just makes himself look bad. :-)

  • I know...immaturity and vulgarity are his trade marks. I'm glad you had a chuckle at his expense. Yes, haters have their uses too. On thing they can never do is silencing the voice for peace and justice for all. Keep up the good work. Peace and love

  • Fantastic video jcmegabyte... clouds are amazing... and this their playing on the sky together with different colours of sky... they flow in own rhythm and we together with them... loved the effect when the clouds like were boiling... greeting from under Polish clouds! Joanna

  • Thanks Joanna! Hopefully more to come :-)

  • fantastic, reminds me of the film Baraca

  • Thanks! :-) I'll have to check that film out.

  • Amazing! A perfect video, even good for meditation time...

  • love the music !

  • Thanks! ...that's nice to hear especially since it was a pretty rough draft - played live and only tweaked a little. I hope to polish it up a bit and maybe re-release the video or at least an MP3. Cheers!

  • My sky is almost always full of contrails. I am glad to see some natural clouds. Although I am also looking forward to the one you say you have of contrails.

  • Wow, very pretty. The fast ones were vertiginous.

  • Thanks Maara! I had to look that one up (vertiginous). 10 points for word usage! :-)

  • Oh, No! My 'nerd' is showing. LOL :)

  • Very dramatic music, well suited to the video. Loved watching the clouds forming and unforming.

    Gerald Boy

  • Another amazing cloud video I do love these.

  • Wow. And fits so well with the music.

  • Bloody Awesome!!! Nothing more to say.

    Dingo

  • Theres so much in here I don't know where to start, well for one thing nice lenticular clouds in one section. Great job.

  • Those cumulous formations are spectacular! The "chemtrails" are interesting, though - When I watch them, they expand faster than they move, which here it seems they move faster than they expand (Or is it fall, not expand?)

  • When they get wider they are actually spreading out (expanding). I have a lot of footage (coming soon!) which shows all sorts of variation. It seems to have a lot to do with the upper winds and especially temperature differences in the stratosphere. They're fascinating to watch in time lapse.

  • This is Beautiful:)Awesome Job!!!!!!Peace:)

    Rand

  • Wow...

  • HI, it is magnificent!!!!!

    You have a special camera!

    Thanks for share!

    Greetings Paula!

    (:-))xxx

  • Hi Paula! You might be surprised to find that the camera is actually a basic older JVC camcorder with a firewire (IEEE 1394) DV port. I use the PC to snag a frame every 1 sec, and old school DOS batch files/editors to sort and copy frames. The real magic is in the software processing and frame sortingm which I have mostly automated now. The rest is editing and music writing. :-)

  • very nice the time you took to get this raw footage.. I imagine that it was the editing which was really where it took shape.. noticed also how you tried to keep the jet trails out.. but it was hard.. I saw a timelaps picture just taken of how many jets fly over one location in a day.. it simply clouds up the sky..

  • I've actually got lots of contrail (chemtrail?) sequences too - some pretty spectacular ones. ...and you're right - I'm saving those for another project which I've been working on for a while. I just have to write the music for it, which is the hardest part for me. :-) Thanks for watching!

  • Stunning piece of work!

  • Thanks! :-)
