  • UNBELIEVABLE...I LOVE!

  • Sounds just like one of the early Smokey ballads from 1958-61.

  • ouch , its hurting my heart ........ah that falsetto ......its the nuts as we say in margate xxx

  • if it were not 4 u tube our youth of today would grow up musical morons

  • Very good and unique song!!!!!!!!!

  • NICE!

  • Oh my! This is fabulous!

  • Shellybellysf..Your killing me PJ..The best of the rest..Truly the Gold Standard..Thanks

  • I agree.. Thanks for listening

  • @PJDooWop Detroit harmony lead the way to modern R & B as we know it. On another note: Detroit had great recording studios. I remember, being from NY, how our teeage band recorded at a studio in New York City. The equipment was WWII surplus lol. The 45 was circulated but WOW, if we only had the producers that MOTOWN had! - Vinny, the Past-Tells.

  • @TheCahoonzie - This is true. You had good studios and bad all over the place. In the beginning Motown broke all of the accepted recording rules, but Gordy had some really nice equipment so after a few years of experimentation he was able to get a killer sound out of the snake pit. Some of those dungeon-like NY studios had a great sound, though. Bell and Associated are two good examples

  • QUALITY

Sounds like Sonny Munroe doing his usual great vocal.

  • YES

It sure does touch your soul!!

    MINE TOO

    Thanks

  • very strong...i can hear otis redding w/booker t and cropper/dunn rhythm or sam cooke-touch of gospel groove happening too-its a masterpiece! thanks again pj !

  • Love this song. Bought the 45 for the other side, "Nervous" but grew to love this more.

  • Some very nice guitar work laced around this gospel rooted deep do-wop urban vocal harmony exotica. Detroit was a center of this genre, e.g. Diablos, Minor Chords, et al. Ouch...this one hurts.

  • I couldn't agree more. Detroit really mastered that blend of gospel and r&b. This song is a great example of what was happening in Detroit at this time

  • so my wife is in the next room over and hearing this playing says ..."its dreamy...!" doo wop and 2-4 track calling out to us....less is more

  • detroit, not suprising to hear the soul influence here. super side.thank you soooooo much for the treat. tom d brick,nj

  • Cheers PJ- Just stumbed on your channel. Fantastic - keep the faith. C

  • am melltin again x

  • Thanks for this wonderful post PJ. I'm so thankful for all of you that can put these here, yourself, Seaside, DooWop4ever etc. Now if I could just find some decent software so I could transfer them so I could play them in the car, my GF would never get to hear her Country Western Again, lol.....

  • This song has the spirit and soul that made this genre the greatest ever.

  • Strange melody rather an interesting tune with an excellent vocal back up group. Wondering about the year? This song makes me want to relax and reminisce. Thanks PJ!

  • 1961

  • @doowopkid yeah, this is a little more advanced than most doo wop.......the chords do not follow your generic doo wop style

  • i really love this song..i dont speak english but i REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE LYRICS OF THIS SONG..CAN SOMEONE WRITE DOWN PLZ?????

  • this song has a way to go

  • This continues to haunt me! I came back a month later to listen again. So simple yet so beautiful this is. I love the lead.

  • Haunting a is great description

  • This side puts a lump in my throat. What

a great song. Hey, PJ hope your doing better

this week after your surgery. Thinking of

    you and your great music.

  • I appreciate the well wishes. Thank you :)

  • Where on earth has this been. Just when I thought I heard everything, out this pops. This has quickly moved into my top ballad play. Thanks!

  • This has been in obscurity for many years. A real shame because it was given two chances (released on Daco and Apollo).

  • Sweet is the word... ab Fab - Thanks for posting!! Is the flip a rocker?

  • The flip side is a common sounding throw away flip side. It's not bad but not remarkable either

  • excellent

  • Very sweet song, you do got some nice ones there, buddy!

  • Thank you

  • I can think of a thousand reasons why this song is special

  • Absolutely

  • I got this info from Marv Goldberg's wonderful online stuff. Just Google "fabulous playboys" goldberg.

  • Very nice stuff. They were from Detroit. For a while they were called the Falcons (not the guys who sang "You're So Fine"). Thanks very much.

  • Didn't realize they also recorded as The Falcons. This must have been pre '58 because the other Falcons group started getting big in Detroit about then. Thanks for the info

  • @PJDooWop When the 2nd version of The Falcons (Eddie Floyd, Mack Rice, Wilson Pickett, etc.) broke up Robert West still had bookings for "The Falcons". They'd had the hits, afterall. So, he had The Fabulous Playboys become the 3rd version of The Falcons. BTW, somewhere along the way "The Ohio Untouchables" (Ohio Players) used to be the backup band.

  • lovely song great Intro!!

  • how do you keep finding these songs?

    great lead singer
