I went there about a year and a half back... it was absolutely wonderful. If I ever manage to go to Japan again, it's on my list of revisits.

Not quite. It's an Onsen, a Japanese bath house. They treat bathing more like a social event then a chore. People do bathe together but the baths themselves are segregated.

@theorginalbnude: No, it's a mixed bath hot spring. The men wander around naked, but woman tend to be more modest and have towels. That was my experience with the place at least.
