  • Hey, wait a minute. He got that one part wrong!

Sorry. Just could't resist the temptation to say something completely and totally absurd.

  • Gilmour IS the reason I started playing guitar. Started with Wish You Were Here, good song about Syd.

  • GREAT !

  • yeah so some can play fast that doesnt mean shit in the spirit of music, real music is true emotion and letting yourself go in the beautiful harmonies now its just about who has the fastest arpegio, i think hendrix, staley, gilmore, bb king, john frusciante know whats up... like if you agree:D

  • Some people who I see play guitar makes me wanna stop playing but David makes me wanna continue to play and to evolve!

  • Some of the most beautiful and expressive blues lines came from this master. Thanks for the memories, Dave.

  • Just beautiful playing. So chilled, and such a cool guy.

  • he makes it look so easy and when I try this on my guitar sounds like a breathless shit out of tune.

  • @loombaron Hell, I can make those 4 notes from the Shine On you Crazy Diamaond sound like a cat being tortured.

  • XD XD XD XD.

  • @S1lent3Bark hahahahahahahahahha lmao that made my day buddy

  • If this doesnt make you wanna go out and get a still guitar. You have no soul.

  • Which efect uses in this song ?

  • @villanoXD uni vibe.

  • GOD

  • Sir David Gilmour is a LEGEND.

  • He is using a Uni-Vibe (he owns 5 of them). What else I'm not sure in this example. I'm perplexed as to how he gets such a clean sound.

  • god

  • what effect he use ?

  • @p0w3r96 Sounds like a phaser, reverb, and delay.

  • @p0w3r96 The spacey swoosh sounds are achieved with a uni-vibe. It is not being produced under this name currently, though. If you want one check out the Fulltone Deja-Vibe, the Jam pedals Retro-Vibe, Roger Mayer's (inventor of the effect) Voodoo-Vibe or cheap ones like the soul- or pickle-vibe.

  • @p0w3r96

    pretty sure thats a univibe

  • Dude I don't know who this guy thinks he is, but he needs to listen to pink floyd more, because he doesn't know what he is talking about

  • @mccoubrj That's David Gilmour, he wrote the guitar part. I think you need to listen to Pink Floyd more. This song is on The Dark Side of the Moon, it's a lot different than The Wall. You should also listen to The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, I think it's the best psychedelic album of the '60s.

  • @slpplexi1969 haha i know who david gilmore is

  • The master!

  • David Gilmour, I love you! but seriously, FUCK YOU. I didn't learn anything from this "lesson".

  • @MoreParksLessParking are you using satire? this is not a lesson, the person who downloaded this has just made up the title. This is from a Pink Floyd documentary. it has nothing to do with any lesson.

  • @MoreParksLessParking . You are such a fucking tube.

  • can I get the sound of that lap steel from a guitar?

  • @Jonalexher Not exactly the same, but you can come close with a slide and reverb

  • @koeienboei

Thanks for the tip. I'm getting a Fender Strat Mexico tomorrow, my first electric guitar and I'm a huge floyd fan, any other tips on getting a gilmourish sound, please? :D

  • @Jonalexher Im sorry i dont know so much of his specific sound, google probably knows :)

  • @Jonalexher If you want the tone of his solos on The Dark Side of the Moon, get a Fuzz Face for distortion. If you want the tone of The Wall, get an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. You should also have a good amp. David Gilmour uses Fender a lot, if you have the money buy one of their tube amps. You might also need a delay. But remember that even if you have all of the exact stuff he used, you still won't sound like him unless you can play like him, and that will take a lot of practice.

  • DOPE!!!!

  • what interview is this?

  • @666MattsGuitar666 This is from the 'The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon' dvd.

  • in classic Pink Floyd there always been 3 singers. David, Roger and David's solo :)

  • David Gilmour is incredible; In so many aspects!

  • @littlenooby , Lap steel

  • what was the second instrument he used?

  • If I won the lottery I would pay/offer a lot of money to hang out with him for a month.. :)

  • @drbilldc really? I would give everything I have just to shake hands with that guy... :(

  • This is obviously takebn from a much longer 'documentry'.

Anybody know what it's from? ..... class, anyone?

  • @MeatCloud It's called Classic Albums!

  • @harvesterofsand well thankyou sir.

  • "is that pink" fucking dumb ass go listen to your rap music

  • this guy is pretty good....is that pink?

  • David Gilmour is the reason I switched to guitar after playing bass for 4 years. :)

  • When this video ended...i stood up clapping for what God has done is a blessing for millions

  • i wanna have his baby

  • One more thing, how many band's do you know that have been around since the 60's ? that's 50 + years. i've seen alot of band's come and go in my time but they've been around so long that everyone know's them young and old or you just don't get around music that much. thank's for posting them !

  • He's proven you don't have to be super fast to make it sound good, he just does. Their music has just the perfect arrangement's and great lyric's. If yall haven't seen David Gilmours- Shine on you crazy diamond acoustic version you need to check it out ! It is excellent and just a very humbleman.

  • why do I get the chills down my spinal cord every time I listen to 1:50?

  • "breathe" is nice because it gives me the feel of "great gig in the sky" within it.. i love david gilmour. easily one of the most influential musical genius.

  • The man is a Master , A genius , and seems to be completely normal , many musicians of half his talent are fruitcakes long before his age

  • such perfect tone and playing

  • 雖然我完全唔曉樂譜, 但看到David教吉他, 覺得好溫暖啊!

  • david gilmour. david gilmour. oh my god. he's such an inspiration to me

  • I can hear the guitar breathe. I love how David can make the guitar sound like anything he wants it to. Beethoven said that music puts you in the mind of the composer, David's music is the epitome of such.

  • david gilmour is the man

  • this is "Time"......

  • The best guitar player in the music history, he doesnt need to play fast, Dave catches the notes in the air , his feeling is authentic!!!

  • @Ponchblues666 FUUUUUUUUUCK I THINK THE SAME !

  • @Ponchblues666 couldn't agree more!

  • Great playing by David and I'm not one of the ones who disliked the video but the camera work is lame, far away shots for the tricky chords...

  • i wish you could find out who disliked a video

  • their is no guitar more beautiful than the black strat

  • I hope I'm that much of a bad ass when I'm his age...

  • Awesome! genius stuff...

  • *Sir David Gilmour

  • the MUSIC is sooo beautiful. I never get tired of listening to BREATHE

  • 1 person was roger waters

  • I got the perfect sound with this setup:

Marshall amp settings: Bass 7, Middle 7, Treble 10

    Reverb: 3, level 3

Rotary speaker (this is the main ingredient)

    '62 Stratocaster, Bridge pickup.

    I hope this helps.

  • @TheBlackhawkSniper Do you know what effect he's using in this video? It sounds like reverb, and something else....

  • @SteveShivik I have a video on my channel that I did called "My Bedroom Studio" it shows a setup like the one for this song. I can't say exactly what David was playing in this video though.

  • @TheBlackhawkSniper Hey thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it :)

  • @SteveShivik No problem!

  • @SteveShivik He's using a Univibe....

  • @SpruceCreekTraders Sounds like a phaser though, are they similar?

  • @sportsportsport Yes, the Univibe is technically a phaser, the difference being that the Univibe uses staggered phasing filters where standard phasers use aligned filters....the staggered filtering gives you more of the "doppler" kind of warble....

  • @SpruceCreekTraders cool, thanks for the info man! :)

  • Why the Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!........Is their a dislike button. Dont watch the video and be a bitch somewhere else.

  • I'm a guitarist too, but instead of thinking about phasers and flangers I just want to say that this video "felt good!"

  • reverb + phaser?

  • @1982telecaster univibe

  • Sorry Dave, this is all wrong............just kidding, it is a pleasure to sit at the master's feet.

  • who the fuck is the one wich clicked dislike?im sure that his ears melted and his eyes exploted and he missed dislike button right?

  • @onimusha514 I know what you mean. Unfortunately, there are too many people like that... except in Tokyo!

  • He seems so peaceful.

  • fuck his voice is sexy

  • i love gilmours style on guitar,very basic,but VERY EFFECTIVE.GO DAVE!

  • @gibsongold1970 Indeed. Best quote I ever heard about David Gilmour was from Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, and it relates to what you said - the quote being "David Gilmour can do more with one note than most guitar players can do with the whole fretboard".

  • i love you dave,,,xxoo

  • Incredible contribution to the world of music! My great grandkids will be listening to this!!

  • @guy9964 I really enjoyed the video. I thought it was pretty cool. I've been a fan since high school.

  • If you ever watch interviews with him, it seems that like his playing, he considers what he is going to say, then says it with as few words as possible, but with maximum impact.

  • @ep9229 he talks like he plays

  • @ep9229 that's why he is a genius ^^

  • @everybody..........I'll fly over the pond and meet David in Pompeii any freakin' day, bring the goodies of choice and shoot to the moon old school for the memory of his good friend Rick *RIP* and good 'ol Syd. My keyboards come alive just thinking about the daze of playing Echoes by the pool for 12 hours at a time back in the day.

  • @ep9229 Jus like his solos, he doesn't need a million notes like other guitarrists.

  • David u the bestt

  • I met this guy in a pub in Fulham once. I was 22yrs old, new to London, and I thought the guy standing with a pint in his hand was Dave Gilmour... so I got up and asked him. Sure enough... But I hadn't long been introduced to the divine ecstasy that is DSOTM and the Wall.... and I was awestruck! I said something silly about him being better than Clapton, and he said, 'yeah, but you have to understand what Clapton's been through'. I felt silly and slunk back to my seat.

  • @555pontifex a friend of mine told me he used to pop into gigs by performers in and around London to see the talent...I think that's how he discovered Kate Bush years ago and financed her first demo tape. Cool story, I'd love to meet him

  • Best? Who knows. But the man did put some soul in his work, thats about as much you can ask from anyone.

  • I think he sets a mood no one else can . It comes so second nature to him I suspect he sometimes wonders what is all the hype is about. Mr. Gilmour the hype is about the gift of your talent and the thankfulness we have that you got to share your genius with the world. The Floyd, one of if not the greatest bands of all time was the perfect medium to express your gifted talent, probably one of the most perfect accidents to ever happen.. God bless DG

  • Legendary man, I want to learn how to play this on the guitar very soon

  • he is very talented.almost like the rainman of music.i like the way he holds his hands and rubs them as he talks and kind looks at the camera from the top of his eyes...i think he has a tick..and i think thats just b/c he is so musically inclined that he would rather play than talk. he probably has music playing in his head constantly. would love to meet him.

  • @chrisyo77 Come to mine on a Saturday aft, he always comes around to collect some potato sacks.

  • There is no solo in Breathe idiot

  • what video is this from? Is there an existing dvd with gilmour teaching guitar?

  • @floyd369 it's from the dvd "the making of dark side of the moon", you can see that documentary on youtube ! go ahead !!

  • That was amazing!

  • GOD teaches !!!

  • @carpediemgr essentially he is one of the godliest guitar players ever. He's probably the Guitar God of Psychedelic/Prog Rock in Music Mythology.

  • what chords does he play at 41 and 44?

  • I wish there was a video of him playing the rippin solo.
