The base for this true story is - there is a child killer, it is in Russia and the guy sort of looks like him... there the fact-base ends. Garbage movie, if you want any resemblance to the actual case.

hey, you should watch Ed Gein... the one directed by Chuck Parello.. it's a great movie and, of course, it's based on the true case of Ed Gein (the serial killer that inspired a lot of movie characters like Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface, Buffalo Bill from Silence of the lambs)

When I first read about Chikatilo, I was speechless..The graphic descriptions of his crimes against children are what nightmares are made of...He is definetely the worst serial killer that has ever existed because he got pleasure from the screams of kids he butchered mercylessly :(

Good movie and I agree that Citizen X is just as good, though who better than to play the role than Malcom McDowell? Anthony Hopkins maybe? Marton Czokas (XXX, The Bourne Supremacy, Kingdom of Heaven)was also good in the supporting role.

I just watched this movie. I was really impressed how well they were able to portray Anerei Chickatilo in the movie. Of course, like any movie, some things were left out; however, the things that were left out were basically immaterial.

I highly recommend this movie.
