Probably THE most interesting and creative musician of this generation. Zachary Francis Condon is a genius. His work with Beirut is stunning, he is an exceptional writer, musician and multi-instrumentalist. He is my idol. I cannot express how big an influence he's been, both on my music (I'm now obsessed with ukuleles and brass instruments), but also on my creativity. The Gulag Orkestar is the perfect soundtrack to my life. Thank you -3
I've watched nearly every interview with him and he is just awesome. So eloquent, knowledgeable, humble, and talented. Zach it is my dream to meet you one day.
@inlovewithbeirut Make that his wife Kristianna Smith... It's sweet though because she appears in the video for Postcards For Italy and a few of the La Blogotheque videos and maybe the song 'My Wife' has something to do with her... but maybe without her Zach might not be as inspired as he his with her... maybe? So in a way it's a good thing... but god dammit it she makes us jealous. ;)
ALSO another thing that, like, I JUST noticed: For those who have heard March of the Zapotec, at 1:54-2:10, doesn't that sound A LOT like The Akara? Or is it just me?
@oo7liu he was just toying around on it, he wasn't playing any of his songs in particular. i've actually learnt how to play what he played in this interview though because i thought it sounded so pretty haha
Zach, I have to let you in on a little information... Listen to Andrew Bird and you will hear you with a little less milky voice. I find it immensely amusing that you are toying around with strumming the violin because that's what Andrew Bird does! If you guys ever had a show together, I think I would I cry I would be so happy. Seriously, you and Andrew Bird are my favorite.
His album The Flying Club Cup was amazing. By far my favorite album by him. I'm currently obsessed with the song Un Dernier Verrer (Pour la Route) by Beirut.
The thing I think I admire most about zach is how he never comes out all flashy for his shows. He comes out just like a normal person and lets his music do the talking!

I can tell that he was such an ordinary guy before his fame, and he probably looks back on those days like her knew nothing then. If I ever become famous, I will make some sort of tribute to Beirut.
