@CSXer Hello & thanks much for watchin the video. Rush RULES & Cannot wait to see them again shortly. I have always been quite impressed with Neil's manurism's alone let alone his frickin killer playing. I also like his humbleness.
Thanks for the advice however I play the way I play! This is a tribute to Mr. Peart as I mainly watched his style of playing growing up. I don't think I come close to playing like Neil but appreciate your input.
Thanks! I use three different units. The Roland TD10 for drum type sounds. A Roland 2080 for Key board type effects & a EMU 2000 sampler. I dig the effect of combining a deep electronic floor tom with an acoustic tom. You can get some really kool bottom type of effects using the two.
DO you use any triggers.? Play with any sequencers?
Hi mate, how did you get your recording sound?? I cant see many or any mics closely mounted to the drums, but you still get a fairly good sound!! What mics did you use to record and where did you position them?? And whats the name of the acoustic panelling foam stuff on the walls?? Cheers
Crazy... Neil's my favorite drummer; Rush my favorite band; I also just happen to have a Pearl drum set that is deep wine red w/black hardware(is that a Pearl set you're playing?). I also have a rope light just like that attached to my drum rack- creepy! Nice cover of Vital Signs, man! Keep on drumming!
Neil ROCKS!!! The kit is a Dw Pacific in Tiger ash. I added the rope light for "bling" haha. I could do better on Vital signs though. There are mistakes! I need to make a new video.
Thanks. Just some rope lighting I thought would enhance the video. RUSH has been the most influential band in my life & many more people that they probably aren't even aware of.
Yes, they are one of the greatest and influential bands of all time! The lyrics tell about real world situations and it speaks out from the mind. Also yes I do play drums. I have been playing for about 3-4 years, but your drum kit puts mine to shame. lol
Thats much appreciated. the room is a Uhaul rental place. I tried to make it as acoustically correct as possible. Do you play? What kinda drums ya got?
Great playing Adam ! Only been playing 3 or 4 years ? You sound more like 13 or 14 years to me. I always used to struggle trying to keep up with Neil.Back in the day,I never missed a Rush concert.Saw Rush in St. Lou. on: 4/15/76, 2/13/77, 1/18/78, 12/13/78, 3/5/90.Maybe some more, don't have every stub.Always awesome shows. The first was in a small theater,The Ambassador. After that in arenas.Got old & busy & didn't see a lot of shows after the earlier years.Great recording of your drums & playing!
Yeah man. I have a 6 piece Tama kit with a full set of Sabian cymbals. But would rather have a DW kit, and Zildjians but couldn't afford either of them. Been playing for about 3 or 4 years.
so your drums are the pdp lx all maple?? im playing the dw collectors in black ice with chrome hardware!!! by the way very good drumming!!!!! the pdp drums sound really good!! i had a set wen they first came out and te onl problem i had with them was the lugs would stripout on me
Black ice. Nice colors. I do dig the sound out of them(PDP). The lugs have not stripped but they go out of tune fast. I seem to always be tuning them. I had the stands powder coated black. Which cymbals are ya using? Do u use electronics?
No. I am using Paiste Singatures. I do like the sound of the Paragons alot but I wanted to try a new look & feel & went with the signature series from Paiste. I do have my Zildjians but am using these now.
well in my current videos i am using solar by sabian crash, ride and hats and stagg splashes and china. but 2weeks ago i bought sabian XS20's! there awesom! so they are 16 and 18 crashes, 20 ride and 14hats. they are going to b in my nxt videos - xanadu and leave that thing alone! ill comment u when i have posted them
Thanks much!I tried. These are the DW LX Series with DW heads. Half clear with coated edges. I like them alot. The drums are a bit out of tune though. Do you play? What kind of kit do ya got?
Lately I haven't done much drumming, since I live in an apartment. My acoustic set is a cheap Dixon Duke and my electric set in a Yamaha DTXpress III. I hope to buy a house soon so that I can assemble a massive Neil-inspired hybrid. :) I was thinking of using Yamaha Stage Custom. Have you tried them? Am I right in thinking the DWs are very expensive? Do you have a video on how you tune your heads?
Hey Man. I do like the stage custom. I think that now a days, the kits that are being made at the cheaper costs, sound quite amazing. I heard the new Gretsch entry level kits & they sound really kool. I have the DW LXE series which sound quite kool (once tuned) & have heard the pacific line DW 805 which are cheap but can get a lot of mileage on it. For $500 - $750, you can get a nice 4-5 piece which will last many years. I have a Blue DW LXE I would like to get rid of.
Hey if you really want to be like Neil, go to Ebay and search "peart caps" and you can find this dude who makes neil peart caps. i bought a snakes and arrows cap from him.
I've jammed with Adam before and can tell you he is TOP NOTCH! It's tough to find musicians who not only claim to be devout Rush fans, but who can also put their skills where there mouth is. Rock on Adam!
There is some VERY VERY nice work in there!!
