Just saw Dickie not to long ago........Sadly, we will not go and see him again. He gets in his own little world, rest of the band don't seem to know what's going on, ..you begin to wonder if he has a hearing problem.......alot of notes off key.......real bummer.
Again, this beauty is rippin' on another beauty, her D'angelico NY-SD guitar. And, lest I forget to mention, the ever-formidable Warren Haynes on that Gibson! ~ Nice touch, ABB!
I certainly wish I had been there, it must have sounded great. Unfortunately the sound quality of this video is abysmal. Not really the Allman Brothers Band though, when they fired Dickie Betts they became the Greg Allman Band. That's just the way it is, no Dickie Betts, no Elizabeth Reed, no Jessica, no Allman Brothers Band.
They still play Elizabeth Reed (a lot) and Jessica (a decent amount). They SELDOM play Blue Sky (only two or three times, about, since Dickie's departure), and they never play Back Where It All Begins, anymore. It is still very much so the ABB and Dickie really left Gregg with no choice...it was bad.
Didn't know they played any of Bett's songs anymore, but I guess the audience wants to hear Elizabeth Reed (Duane's solo on Live at Fillmore East is the greatest guitar solo of all time, never mind the guitar magazine polls) I quit drinking a long time ago and I can't stand be around drunks anymore, I suppose that was what it was all about. Or maybe Dickie kept hitting wrong notes and playing out of tune cause he was drunk. Don't really know the story of the whole thing very well.
they still play Jessica and firing Dickey was the best thing to happen to them since reforming in '89. I like Dickey and love his music, but he brought too much bad weather to the band. The current incarnation of the band is as good or better than the original, which is a HUGE compliment as the '69-71 ABB is the best band ever to grace a stage (keyword - band). Adding Susan just took them to the pinnacle of greatness no other band or act has ever achieved or ever will. You're witnessing history.

She already is...who could hold her own singing with this line-up and still come off good? Sound does suck, though.
